The present work focuses on the link between fiction and essays in the autobiographical story Angélique ou l'enchantement (1987) by Alain Robbe-Grillet. Starting from the premise of the construction of the own figure that the writer himself poses, the study analyzes the programmatic nature of an interventions that seek to reconfigure his place within the literary field, although simultaneously –and here is our hypothesis– can be read also in the interstices of that project a certain hesitation and ambiguity in his speech. The life’s remembrance, the reflections on his literature and the account of specific episodes of his childhood will therefore have unexpected consequences in the very conceptualization of the author's work

This paper develops the analysis of the analogical relation between the alchemy and the emotion-passion that occurs implicitly in Feux and Les charités d’Alcippe, by Marguerite Yourcenar. The double raw material of alchemy –physical and spiritual– allows it to become a model of that commotion of living matter that also manifests itself as a psychic phenomenon and as a thought. Emotion-passion takes place –according to its most recent theories– between pre-consciousness and cognition, and opus nigrum is the phase whose description suits that indecisive zone. The alchemy of the flesh and the alchemy of the verb –by Rimbaud– demand the same anchoring in the body: hence poetry is recognized as a natural language by those pre-conscious or hermetic knowledges that are reluctant to conceptual language

In this essay we will try to define the fundamental elements underlying the structure of every prose poem. In order to achieve this goal, we will study the validity of the criteria that Suzanne Bernard stablished in 1959: brevity, organic unity and gratuity. Considering a wide variety of opinions coming from diverse critics as well as the application of those criteria to a corpus of four authors exemplifying the diversity of the prose poem (Charles Cros, Francis Poictevin, Marie Krysinska and Hugues Rebell), we will try to determine the possible generic configuration that the conjunction of those three characteristics can achieve.

Among the French contemporary poets that want to get back some lyric values of poetry adapting them to contemporary requirements, this article aims to approach the figure of Antoine Emaz. This poet doesn’t consider himself as a lyric poet a priori, but he wants to maintain some emotion or tension in his poems. With this paper, we will study different poetic methods used by Antoine Emaz, as the refusal of the expression in first person, the presence of everyday life, or his persistence to preserve emotion in poetry. Following these procedures, he reaches the exploration of what we could consider as a lyrism of sobriety

The paper firstly surveys the historical controversy over Balzac’s style, praised and rejected by critics throughout time, while underlining hyperbole as a relevant figure behind some of Balzac’s stylistic choices. In a second section, the article deals with the impact of such controversy on the Spanish translation of Balzac’s style with examples of adjectives and neologisms taken from the so called “Vautrin cycle”, consisting of Le père Goriot, Illusions perdues and Splendeurs et misères des courtisanes, highly representative novels of the whole of La Comédie humaine. The paper ultimately aims at considering translatology as a necessary perspective, though still undeveloped in Balzac’s studies, for the production of more accurate translations of Balzac’s original stylistic intentions

The purpose of this article is to analyze the institutional censorship of the Spanish translation of André Breton’s Entretiens (1952) from the moment that Barral asked permission to release the book in Spain until this publishing house obtained it. After a short contextualization of the original and its translation, the article focuses on the study of its censorship files, which will allow us to discover the Francoist reaction facing the possibility of publishing his text, and to know the censors’ identity, their comments as well as their decisions so that the book could be published in Spain

We will apply the task-based approach (Consejo de Europa: 2002) to the design of learning materials aimed for the bilingual instruction in CLIL subjects taught in French language in Spain (secondary education). Through an examination of the notion of “task” within a pragmatic paradigm, the direct connexion between task and discourse genres, functions and notions is determined. We show how functions determine grammar and how notions determine the vocabulary to be used and, finally, we will show the convenience of implementing this approach for teachers

Alfred de Musset's masterpiece, Lorenzaccio, published in 1834, is a play which was originally meant to be read, rather than staged. Its stageability still remains a debate issue: constant changes of setting make scenery difficult and the psychological depth of the plot results in an excessively long play. Nevertheless, numerous directors have managed to successfully stage the play by means of different resources, about which we are discussing. This questioning leads to the issue of the stageability of a play whose dramatic text is needed to be manipulated to be staged

Paralanguage brings together all the audible phenomena that enter into interaction during a communicative act. In a literary text, it has the function of bringing sound effects. Thanks to these elements, we can hear what is only written: noises, the most subtle breaths or even silences. In everyday life, we do not perceive all the sounds in the same way, our brain makes a selection according to what interests us, but in the literature all the noises are important, because they are consciously chosen by the author, often for a deliberate purpose; they create a definite background, reflect a judgment, specify the meaning of the action and the thoughts of the characters

The main objective of this article is the critical study of Elitza Gueorguieva’s first novel. This author is part of a large literary archipelago of intellectuals who settled in France and adopted French as there vehicle for literary expression. In this context, the choice of a corpus of writers from the Europe that we called Eastern allows us to analyze French literature from a perspective far removed from the problems inherent in colonialism. The thematic axes will be studied in the contexts of totalitarianism and the analysis carried out will outline the feminine contribution in this literary mosaic
