Adaptability, learning capabilities, and space-energy efficient hardware are required in robotic architectures, which must deal with changing dynamic environments. Nowadays, learning algorithms are implemented in Von Neumann Architectures, which separate storage from processing units, making them not appropriate for artificial neural networks (ANN), resulting in inefficient implementations. This writing presents a neural architecture proposal designed to implement a control loop in a mobile wheeled under-actuated inverted pendulum system, using spiking neural networks, linear quadratic regulator control technique, and a neural framework that allows us to define the neuron ensembles specification to represent specific control signals. The intention is to study how typical control theory algorithms can be translated into neural structures, aiming for neuromorphic implementation.

Leukemia is a health problem that affects the world population causing thousands of kills. Visual analysis is a diagnostic method required for leukemia detection. Evolutionary vision models are useful to understand the solutions found because they make it possible to identify how the image recognition process develops. In this work, we analyze the performance of an evolutionary vision model named brain programming, in which we use a multi-class classifier embedded into the model, to lead the evolutionary process. Furthermore, we use a type of knowledge transfer to improve the recognition task. Results suggest that the knowledge transfer allow an adequate model performance to solve the problem of leukemia recognition. In addition, the structure of the model provides some degree of explainability to the approach, and the structure of the solutions found is amenable to interpretation, which is a desirable aspect of the leukemia recognition problem.

During passive rehabilitation, the medical therapist performs specific routines on the patient's limbs who have suffered physiological damage and has partial lost or total mobility and muscle strength. Currently, there are commercial devices of manual nature that assist the doctor during the application of routines. However, the majority are closed kinematic chain which limits the number of angles that can be reached. In this article, it is detailed the design and development of an electro-mechanical system for an autonomous passive lower extremity rehabilitator. The mechanical system is developed considering the knee's biomechanics, the change in length of the limb during flexion and extension, and the anthropometry of the patients to be treated. The system is actuated by electromechanical elements to avoid costly pneumatic systems or hydraulic networks. The scheming and development of the transmission system for the electromotive actuator selection are also detailed in its corresponding section.

This article offers an overview of the research developed in the last decade in the area of software testing. Systematic Literature Mapping was used as a research methodology, and based on three databases, 171 primary studies were selected. The study raises a set of research questions about techniques, strategies and types of tests, aspects such as quality factors analyzed, degree of innovation, and even about the empirical method used in the study. Among the findings, it was found that performance tests are the most analyzed types of tests, mixed strategies were the most cited, that efficiency turned out to be the most important quality factor, and that case studies are the most used technique by researchers. The secondary study carried out allowed us to conclude that research in the field of software testing is still valid in the context of Software Engineering, so it is pertinent to continue research on specific topics through both primary and secondary studies.

The experience and reflection presented in this academic report summarize the importance of planning guided by preventive conservation methodologies that use work instruments such as free software and strategic collaboration among private institutions, universities and research centers that are in charge of managing documents and archives. Given the undeniable budget austerity these repositories undergo, the proposals presented can make a positive impact on the conservation, access, and dissemination of bibliographic and documentary collections of high heritage value, such as the one of the Biblioteca Ricardo B. (brba) Anaya in the city of San Luis Potosí.

This academic report is a part of a research, from the perspective of visual studies, on landscape art of modernity and after it in the Western tradition. This work proposes to analyze, in accordance with the structuralism of Thomas Kuhn, the change in visual Gestalt of the beginning of the 20th century related to the articulation in art of a new paradigm. The visualization cuts across the curating and the cataloging of online collections of North American National Museums of Art, questioning the differential perception of structuring the abstract and the conceptual in the landscape between collections. However, this study finds a theoretical solution to the phenomenon of the invisibility of images in episodes of a non-accumulative nature, typical of paradigmatic changes, according to Kuhn’s model.

This is a review of two exhibition proposals on Tlatelolco, Mexico, developed for the 500 years of the fall of the last bastion of Tenochtitlan during the Spanish conquest: Xaltilolli. Espacio de Artes, Memorias y Resistencias, at the Centro Cultural Universitario Tlatelolco (ccut), and Bienal Tlatelolca, at the Central de Maquetas. The text presents the contents and objectives of both and reflects on their particularities. It problematizes the concept of original peoples and discusses artistic production as a tool for analysis and linkage to a territory.

In New Spain, the temples found in female convents often shared the same set ofarchitectural and urban characteristics and were therefore quite similar. This means that it may be possible to conduct a historiographical analysis of such buildings by applying a typological methodology focused not only on buildings displaying traditional features but also on those exhibiting deviations, as potential drivers of change in the direction of architecture. This case study will analyze one atypical example—the temple of Corpus Christi in Mexico City—designed and built by master builder Pedro de Arrieta as a nunnery for indigenous women; given his professional experience, any departure from traditional features was not likely a random occurrence, but rather an intentional diversion from conventional typologies. Findings will be interpreted based on architectural notions, not using a history of mentalities, nor an approach in the history of art, but drawing from typological analysis, which has been successfully used in Mexico and Latin America for decades. The purpose of this research will be to explore why the author adopted such an exceptional approach for this project.

This research article exposes a possible application of the nopal gum (Opuntia ficus) variety as an additive to promote the durability of adobes, which may be used in the conservation of architectural heritage. This research was carried out in the Laboratory on Cubic Soil Specimens. While preparing the mixtures, different concentrations of previously dehydrated and powdered nopal gum were added. Through moisture retention, capillarity, and compressive strength analysis, the samples were evaluated, and the results found—also discussed here—show that adding nopal gum increases the compression strength of soil specimens and reduces capillarity. In fact, it was possible to maintain the cohesion of the particles in the soil samples during their exposure to humid environments. Having obtained such aptitude in the properties of said specimens makes this substance viable for its use in the conservation of adobe buildings.
