This academic report verse on the activities carried out in Tehuantepec, Oaxaca, Mexico, as part of a pilot project on risk reduction for local cultural heritage. Its first phase sought to understand, through the identification and analysis of vulnerability factors, the risks faced by this type of heritage located in the first square of the city. To this end, participatory assessment and mapping methods tools were used to generate a risk matrix. Some of the results are the identification of the most culturally relevant sites and the main hazards to them, as well as the design of possible solutions, elaborated on a local level. Finally, some lines of work for subsequent phases are mentioned.

Based on the comparative analysis of several case studies related to the application of The Decision-Making Model for the Conservation and Restoration of Modern and Contemporary Art to solve conservation problems of works created with plastic, I propose to delve into the reaches, challenges, implications and, results of this subject, since plastic is an industrial material not produced ex profeso for artistic creation which, when used in this field, presents specific characteristics and properties that influence its behavior, deterioration and, hence, durability. Thus, its ephemeral character makes us question how to conserve such works, where the concept is the most important.

This research article is a reflection on the concept and application of the term postizo in religious sculpture, both in its current valuation as an element that is not part of the sculpting, but added, such as the case of glass eyes, hair eyelashes, teeth and nails made from bone—not so the clothing and other elements, such as bases or crowns—. All this implies that restorers in training frequently question the role that this element plays in the piece’s creation. For the above, it is why in this text I propose that postizos should be conceived as an integral part of the statue’s creation process, being a recurring resource, which provides greater realism, complementing the woodwork, regardless of the materials that must be “added”. In order to support this proposal, referential pieces that offer a greater understanding of viceregal imagery will be used as examples.

An understanding of the lignocellulosic biomass processes is essential when selecting the fractionation routes and the possibilities of obtaining new products, by-products, and bioenergy derived from the selected biomass. The objective of the article is: to identify the opportunities for obtaining lignocellulosic biomass from coffee in the province of Chimborazo within the framework of the Circular Economy. The varieties and quantities of cultivated coffee were determined, and the sites and characteristics of the places where coffee is grown in Ecuador and in the province of Chimborazo were identified. The types, amounts of waste, and by-products from the industrialization of coffee were determined. It was found that as a result of the industrialization of coffee, large amounts of waste are generated in the form of parchment, pulp, and grounds.

This article analyzes the affinities and discrepancies between the Twitter posts of Gleisi Hoffmann and Joice Hasselmann, Brazilian federal deputies belonging to different political parties, and the comments received with the aim of observing the construction of dialogues, the opening of debates and the model of occupation of social networks as instruments in the search for promotion and the proposal of new public agendas. 2,866 comments issued between 2018 and 2020 were analyzed, all of them referring to 24 interventions by Hoffmann and Hasselmann in which they refer to different political topics and expose gender issues and hate speech by the users selected for the sample. Through content analysis, it was identified that the deputies received aggressive comments due to the political positions expressed, but also for personal reasons. Therefore, it was found that few comments were directly related to the content of the tweets, which leads us to reflect on the restrictions of this space for political interaction in the construction of democratic public debates.

This article analyzes the political communication of former Argentine President Mauricio Macri (2015-2019) on Twitter and evaluates the interaction that his users had with the content published throughout the second year of his term. In particular, the tweets are classified and systematized based on their interaction rates and the speech of the former president on Twitter and the comments of the selected sample are analyzed. To carry out the work, a theoretical-methodological triangulation is proposed that combines elements of content analysis and the theory of social discourses and allows: 1. To establish relationships between engagement rates and the content themes of presidential tweets; 2. To identify different aspects of the configuration of the enunciation device of the former Argentine president on Twitter; 3. To make an assessment of the type of content published by users in the comments, as well as analyze the interaction between them.

The pandemic reveals the post-truth condition and the crisis of trust and conflicts between multiple forms of expertise, including those of the health sciences, which make it difficult to solve planetary problems. The posttruth analysis of the pandemic allows us to understand essential aspects of contemporary public communication: the (dis) informational disorder, the questions and conflicts about expertise, and the mixed consequencesthat the abundance of communication brings to face common problems such as health global public. The pandemic demonstrates the problems for the collective use of public reason. Public reason demands communicative conditions, such as truthful information, epistemological agreements on data and facts, and citizen participation. However, public communication, fractured and fragmented, without norms of participation or shared epistemological principles, dynamites the chances of achieving significant consensus on a variety of topics: the identification of problems, the diagnosis of causes, the debate of solutions. The propaganda stubbornness of power added to irrational currents that question essential aspects of the pandemic, such as its existence, origin, methods of care and resolution, expose this problem. These conflicts are traversed by contemporary communication chaos that, as well as enhances opportunities for expression, also makes it difficult to find consensus. The problem is that the resolution of public goods presupposes basic consensus on shared mechanisms for public debate and principles for determining and resolving common goods.

This article explores the political communication of José Mujica during his presidency (2010-2015) in Uruguay and seeks to answer why, contrary to what happened with the others governments of the “Left-turn” in South America, he managed to participate in the mainstream national media in ways that he found beneficial. The work, which arises from an extensive investigation that includes interviews with 32 key actors of the relationship between media and politics in Uruguay, indicates that two main issues converged for this. First of all, the configuration of the Uruguayan media system. Both because of the strong relative weight of the State regarding media companies and because of the “journalism of declaration”, which considers that its main task is to obtain the statements of the actors of institutional and party politics. This allows the president to define several conditions of his media appearances. Secondly, Mujica’s artisanal handling of political communication, characterized by his direct and atypical style and his audience success, but also by a prior relationship of trust with four political journalists who worked in conservative media. It was a relationship of mutual convenience that allowed the president to reach an audience that he considered strategic and that allowed journalists to get scoops and distinguish themselves within their field.
