The aim of this study is to show how the students of different cultures perceive their physical education classes. 2748 students (1373 from the Araucania Region in Chile and 1375 from Saarland in Germany) have been surveyed. The students of both countries agree that the “sportive-recreational” aspect is more important than the “social-educational” one, while the Chilean students present higher values than the German students do. In addition, the students of both countries disagree to the statement that physical education is useless for them. The Chilean and German students think that their physical education class is useful. This knowledge can be used as an opportunity to reinforce the generation of positive experiences in class and to consolidate the learning processes.

This paper presents the results of the analysis of the opinions of 353 students enrolled in the Master’s degree in Secondary Education Teacher Training at the University of Córdoba (Spain) regarding cross-curricular competences focused on organizing learning spaces that promote gender respect and equality. Through a Likert scale questionnaire, data have been collected in relation to the level of development and the importance conferred to each competence. The results show differences in terms of gender and macro-areas of knowledge in the case of the level of development. We believe that it is necessary to study in depth the factors that favor these differences as well as the evolution of the diverse learning styles by university degree and gender. This would allow a greater understanding of the learning methods of the students and therefore, an improvement of their training process.

This article investigates the use of Wattpad application, launched in 2006, in upper secondary Portuguese language classes as an educational tool for reading and writing texts. This study has two objectives: (i) to present the main usability characteristics of Wattpad and (ii) to propose possible implementation actions of the application as a didactic-pedagogical tool in upper secondary education. To this end, we present a case study in which we assessed the first and the latest written productions on Wattpad platform of 22 sutdents aged 15 to 17 years, attending the 1st year of upper secondary education in the same classroom of São Paulo state education system.

The article analyzes the transition process between higher education and the labor market, as experienced by graduates of a prestigious institution that helped pioneer affirmative action programs. A panel was created to track the occupational pathways taken by the first two sets of graduates that went through the program (enrolled in 2005 and 2006). The article contains four parts: the case; the methodological construction of the panel; the results, highlighting the diversity of the trajectories and the chances for accessing quality employment among beneficiaries, or not, of inclusion policies; and the effects of the program on the occupational destinations of its graduates.

From the production about the Context Evaluation on Child Education and the research experience in this field, this text presents and discusses a qualitative research about the evaluation of play at a child education institution in Curitiba. It was proposed and realized an internal evaluation course, participatory and formative with the faculty, coordination, direction and pedagogical advice, of an educational institution for children, since babies, from 4 months to 5 years and eleven months. Part of this process was the ad hoc construction of an instrument that served as a support for the reflections and discussions, in group, aiming at “protagonist participation”. There was an increase in awareness of the individual and collective perspectives on the play. The collective construction of the instrument from a research process allowed the deepening of concepts related to the theme, consisting of a process of singular continuous formation.

This study aims to present the process of designing, testing and validating measurement instruments to measure the school climate from the perspective of students from the 7th grade of primary education onwards, as well as their teachers and managers. We reviewed the national and international literature on the subject, built the concept, the reference framework formed by eight interrelated dimensions and the measurement instruments. Based on a sample of 11,516 respondents, we carried out the statistical and qualitative analyzes concerning the validation process: evidence content and construct validity. The dimensions and their respective items indicated good componential load and good reliability indices, which validates the measurement instruments.

This paper investigates grade repetition in Portugal using microdata. Drawing on multilevel models, we analyse the number of times the student repeated a grade in compulsory education – our dependent variable – in association with children’s individual characteristics, household sociodemographic and economic background, and children’s living conditions – our covariates. Furthermore, we also attempt to shed light on the impact of schools on the endogenous variable. Our results confirm the importance of individual, family, and neighbourhood characteristics on the rate of grade repetition. In terms of schools, the results obtained show that the student’s probability of failure vary across schools, demonstrating the importance of the impact of the school itself on grade repetition.
