Resumen
This article aims to analyze the school days in European Union countries, systematizing similarities and differences between education systems. The compared analysis involved fifteen member countries and focused on the descriptive and comparative phases of the classical comparative method. School days are socio-historical and cultural constructions, which result in sometimes convergent, sometimes divergent policies in the region. In general, the compulsory school day in European countries is from 5 to 6 hours per day. However, there are many features, including investment in policies that integrate curricular and extracurricular activities, as supervised socio-educational times. Through compared analysis, it was possible to identify perspectives and alternatives to the school day configuration to better answer to the demands and needs of the subjects of education.

Resumen
This article presents a qualitative study on the perceptions of teachers about immigrant or refugee children in public schools. It is based on the critical perspective of intercultural education and in the historical-cultural concept. Interviews were conducted between 2018 and 2019 with ten teachers of the first five years in a municipal elementary school in Duque de Caxias, Rio de Janeiro. All the teachers have over twelve years of experience in basic education, and had Congolese or Angolan children in their classes. We identified that the presence of immigrant children, which could initially be a difficult element for the teaching-learning process, has motivated new reflections on differences, inequalities, prejudices and discrimination in schools.

Resumen
This paper focuses on the creation of the Departamento de Educação Física do Estado de São Paulo [Department of Physical Education of São Paulo State] (DEF-SP). Its objectives are: a) to analyze the debates that led to the creation of the DEF-SP; b) to identify the positions assumed by the subjects who contributed to its creation; c) to verify the initiatives that were implemented in its first year of activity. The creation of the DEF-SP was linked to the debates of the sports field of São Paulo in intersection with disputes and tensions about the national identity. It was promoted by sports figures, such as sports journalist, athletes and also by doctors. The justification for its creation presented a eugenic content, and the sport was interpreted as means to develop physical and moral vigor of the population.

Resumen
Based on an epistemological discussion, this paper aims to show the contribution of abduction as a scientific procedure in the educational field. To that end, I explain how scientific research approaches and processes are founded on the three types of logical inference: deduction, induction and abduction, all of which underpin knowledge building and the role of both science and researchers. Firstly, I describe the specific features of abduction according to Peirce’s philosophical system. Then, I illustrate its implementation in a study on teaching. Finally, I underscore how abduction could contribute to build a broader scientific project in the intercept between basic and praxeological research.

Resumen
This article addresses commodification and privatization trends in Chile in the neoliberal era by anlyzing the discourses and arguments present in the current educational policies aimed at solving quality and socio-educational inequality problems. To this end, by means of Critical Discourse Analysis and Political Discourse Analysis, it explores the corpus of presidential enactments from 2008 to date to address. The results show arguments that, in loop effect, offer market solutions to the problems generated by decades of educational neoliberalism in Chile. Such arguments are discussed based not only on the sociolinguistic effects that neoliberal discourses have had on the educational debate but also on the need to demystify and confront neoliberal hegemony.

Resumen
The article analyzes the genesis, power relations and social impacts of the indigenous mission of the Capuchin Friars Minor in the Republican Maranhão State, from the perspective of the conflict and the indigenous resistance movement that destroyed the Colônia de Alto Alegre and its boarding school for Indian girls. A theoretical-methodological line was adopted that reconstructs analytically testimonies and archival documentation as they are investigated from the perspective of the indicative paradigm and placed in dialogue with various studies. There is emphasis on sociological, anthropological and historical works. The results show that the conflicting relations between indigenous people and missionaries, contrary to the catechesis and civilization project of the nations of origin, have generated very positive sociopolitical consequences for the Tentehar people.

Resumen
This study aims to identify the best professional development models for a group of Portuguese crèche educators. It seeks to learn their preferences regarding formats, themes and types of professional development activities, and the conditions under which video-feedback may be more relevant to them. Interviews were conducted with 26 participants, after they watched videos of their practices in a real-life context. The results show that the use of video is considered a potentially relevant tool for reflection, improvement and strengthening of professional practice, and that it is necessary to ensure its proper framework. The results also show other preferences of this group of educators, offering clues for the design of professional development programs in crèche centers.
