Resumen
The paper addresses, based on international and national bibliographic research, the concept of first-generation student (F-Gen) and his/her characteristics as it applies to the Brazilian context. It takes into account the results of Enade (Exame Nacional de Desempenho dos Estudantes) (2015, 2016, 2017) on the profile of the student, providing some indicators about diversity in higher education access by examining degree completion of first-generation college student (F-Gen) while contrasting it with that of continuing college students (C-Gen). The paper concludes discussing the complexity of the concept of being first-generation, while suggesting ways how it can be used in assessing college participation in higher education.

Resumen
This article presents three exploratory profiles of reflexive practices from a sample of 115 student-trainees who attend teacher training masters programs in early childhood education and in teaching 1st and 2nd cycle of basic education, in mainland Portugal, regarding prática de ensino supervisionada (PES) [supervised teaching practice]. The data presented comes from the statistical analysis based on análise de correspondências múltiplas (ACM) [multiple correspondence analysis]. It allows to identify two profiles set apart by the impact of the reflections written during STP and their respective justification based on the subsystem of higher education they attend, the legal nature of the subsystem and the adopted models. The data also differentiated a third group based on the pedagogical model adopted and the subsystem.

Resumen
This study presents an integrative literature review. It aim was to identify the trends and characteristics of Brazilian academic researches that used the theoretical categories of teaching knowledge, formulated by Shulman and collaborators: pedagogical content knowledge (PCK), pedagogical action and reasoning processes. We found 114 studies, most of which published since 2010. The studies focus mainly on the initial education of teachers who teach in the final years of fundamental (from 11 to 14 years old) and high school, to understand how PCK is developed and mobilized. The analysis presented here can stimulate the development of further research.

Resumen
This article aims to demonstrate the relevance of the epistemological debate to understand the theoretical bases, the strands and the types of analysis methodology that target the field of public policies. This is a theoretical-explanatory research, based on a literature review of classical authors, such as Putnam, Arretche, Farah, Secchi and Howlett. The study demonstrates that the epistemological distinction between fact and value is an important key to understand on the one hand, the difference between the theoretical-descriptive analysis and the applied-prescriptive analysis of public policies, and on the other, the controversy between the positivist and post positivist strands, which marked the argumentative turn starting in 1990. It was concluded that the understanding of the epistemological issues is of great relevance to the rationale behind the analysis methodologies.

Resumen
The article discusses the educational practices developed regarding children’s schooling by ten male teachers, who are fathers, living in fi ve cities in the state of Minas Gerais. First, we conducted a survey at the Regional Teaching Superintendence of Ouro Preto aiming to identify the number of teachers working in basic education, and then, we proceeded to the choice of subjects. Next, the male teachers, who are fathers, answered a questionnaire to assess their sociological, professional and educational profi le and we conducted semi-structured interviews focused on family educational dynamics and practices. The results indicate that male teachers, who are also fathers, with an extensive teaching workload, play a role in monitoring their children’s school life. However, they do not exercise strong regulation and control of school and extra school activities, and often remain behind the scenes in the process of family schooling monitoring.

Resumen
This study aimed to understand how the subjects, in the course of their life stories and through mainly experiential learning processes, built knowledge and awareness through participation in a social movement. Therefore, a qualitative study, using semi-structured interviews, was carried out to obtain narratives of the life stories of six participants in a Brazilian movement that unifies young people nationwide: the Levante Popular da Juventude [Popular Youth Uprising]. The study allowed the understanding of how the educational experience of participation in social movements favors the emancipation of the subjects who experience it, and leads to an awareness of participatory citizenship in the face of local and global reality.

We intend to continue thinking about a critical pedagogy in the natural and technological worlds with the objective of strengthening processes of social transformation
