In a world that undeniably competes for investment, visitors and residents, the adoption of approaches derived from the marketing has become a reality in the search for sustainability. It is a fact that a city marketing and brand management policy is able to promote and transform an image, boost economic activity and enhance all aspects of the city that present competitive advantage over other territories, so this is why associate marketing with cities makes sense. This study aims a better understanding of the brand image and their relationship with behavioural intentions, especially through the perceptions that tourists have toward the destinations (e.g. Madeira island), and how this may influence their attitudes. The objective of this study is to understand the impact of the personal brand on the image of a tourist destination, using as a case study the Madeira destination. An empirical study was carried out through questionnaires applied to 142 tourists in Madeira island. It was possible to understand the perception of visitors and assess the experience of visitors and the theoretical and practical contributions to local development and tourism marketing. Under an interdisciplinary perspective, this research brings together inputs from marketing, tourism and local economics. A theoretical model is developed specifying antecedents of satisfaction and loyalty in specific tourism contexts. Implications for future research are also presented.

In the last years, tourism has been growing significantly in urban settings. This growth led to a number of positive impacts, but the uncontrolled expansion of tourism-related activities (the ‘overtourism’ effect) has caused many negative outcomes. This paper entails a reflection on sustainable tourism in urban contexts, focusing on locals’ perceptions of tourism impacts on their daily lives. A survey was conducted of 151 residents and workers of the city centre of Porto, Portugal, aiming at a deeper understanding of the social, cultural, and economic, impacts resulting from the exponential development of tourism in the city. The findings suggest that, at this early stage of development, locals agree with the development of tourism in the city and consider that it improved their overall living conditions. However, there are concerns with housing prices and rising cost of living. The resulting data allowed to design a set of guidelines to build a sustainable development model for urban tourism destinations, assuring the local communities’ quality of life, where several preventive measures are presented that aim to preserve the sociocultural sustainability of urban communities.

The main objective of this research was to study the impact of destination brand experience on tourist behavioral intention. Sample area of the study included four essential tourism destinations of the Kashmir valley, India viz: Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Sonamarg and the famous Boulevard Road. The convenient sampling method was applied for sampling purposes and total responses obtained were 385 out of 450.  SPSS 25.0 has been used to analyze data and study the overall impact of the destination brand experience on tourist's satisfaction and revisit intention. Several strategies are suggested that are based on the findings, like how to improve the different experiences. The results of the study demonstrate that tourists perceive a branded destination differently. The different kinds of experiences lead tourists dependent on destination. The different factors under brand experience that have been studied show how each factor contributes to tourists satisfaction and leads to their intentions in the future.

This paper evaluates the potential for diversification and production sophistication of the states where the first three Special Economic Zones (EEZs) will be installed in Mexico. Using the methodology of economic complexity proposed by Hausmann, Hidalgo et al. (2014), economic activities are classified based on their complexity and a distance measure is estimated to identify the most viable manufacturing industries to be developed given the productive capabilities existing in each region. The results reveal the differences between the economic structures of each entity, as well as the particular opportunities for the states have to transform the structures; this is why these results are a valuable input for decision-making in the first stage of the model's implementation.

Based on the national Input-Output Matrix (IOM) 2012 calculated by INEGI, we estimate with the Flegg approach four regional Input-Output Matrices (RIOMs) using Banco de México’s regionalization (Northern, North-Central, Central and Southern). These RIOMs are employed to evaluate the impact on regional gross output, value added and employment from a 10,000 million dollar shock on Mexican manufacturing exports. The results show that the effects on the absolute values of gross output, value added and employment in the North are clearly larger than those estimated for the other regions. Another finding is that the total effects of the regional shocks tend to concentrate in the manufacturing sector, with the highest concentration observed in the North, and the lowest in the South. It is also shown that the North is, by far, the region experiencing the greatest change in its value added relative to GDP, followed by the North Central, the Central and the South. The results suggest a strong linkage between the manufacturing sector and tertiary activities, particularly commerce and services in the central regions, as well as between manufacturing and oil and gas extraction in the South.

Following the results of a recent study on the bilingual abilities in Shipibo and Spanish of pupils enrolled in a school of Intercultural Bilingual Education (EIB), this article addresses some of the questions raised by the way the EIB works. It analyzes this issue from the perspective of minority languages and their place in a multilingual education and contrast the steps taken by the Peruvian EIB with the experience of revitalization of an European minority language (Basque). The work focuses on the effects of the use of vehicular languages in school. From a communicative approach of the languages who has the multilingualism like aim, the work stresses in the challenges that the multilingual education has to optimize the learning process of the languages in contact and reflects on the importance of rigorous evaluation of both the development of student bilingual skills, and the EIB results itself and its effects on linguistic revitalization. It also concludes by underlining, on one hand, the need to promote positive attitudes towards linguistic and cultural diversity, and in the other hand, to develop teaching tools and promote pilot experiences that contribute to a better development of EIB.

The paper describes the research process carried out at the Hernán Villa Baena Educational Institution (I.E.H.V.B.) in the municipality of Bello-Antioquia, with the aim of analyzing the literacy levels of children in the third grade of this institution. This is a mixed investigation, due to the fact of corpus descriptive treatment (qualitative) and statistics analysis that supported it (quantitative). In order to fulfill the objective proposed to the students, three tests (diagnosis, educational proposal called Con las TIC leo y comprendo and the test of exit) were applied, as well as the participation of mothers and teachers. I did an interview. The results show that the literacy levels of the students improved as of the implementation of the pedagogical proposal, as well as differences between the teachers 'and mothers' perceptions regarding the learning process of reading and writing of the children.

The purpose of this article is to reflect, using a mixed theoretical-interpretive approach, upon the relation between the structures of power which are created and reproduced in the teaching of Spanish and Colombia's political life. Therefore, the analysis is structured under categories based on the glotopolitical notion of ideologemes, through which it is possible to establish a perspective about legislation and Spanish textbooks. The text shows a revision about the laws related to the teaching of Spanish in Colombia, passed between 1903 and 1949, and focuses on the analysis of linguistic ideologies, particularly referred to as ideologemes. From this perspective, three main ideologemes were identified at that time, which are: a) language as a means of bleaching the race, b) the language as a mechanism of progress and c) language as an essential element in the consolidation of the nation. Derived from this analysis, the final reflection that emerges is related to which ideologemes are maintained or changed in the 1980 period and in the current post-conflict context in Colombia.
