Some trees are hierophanies manifestations. In this study of indoamerican mythology will be analyzed, mainly, etiological myths, related with the tree, which is going to reveal the sexuality background between the sacred and profane, and where sacrifice has a primordial aspect. Through many mythics motifs it will show that trees figure in the origin time (as founders of humanity) and the ending times, as it happens with nahuas and the archetype tree of Chichihualcuauhco (mammas tree), which nourished the dead babies. Some trees have had sexual relations with human beings and by this way some dwarfs have been born (as Catorce Fuerzas)or the generation has been preserved, as in the Pop Wuj, after a sacrifice, when Hun-Hunahpú´s head (as jicara tree) makes pregnant the young Ixquic. These numinous characteristics will permit to establish parallelisms between different myths, for example, the event mentioned of Pop Wuj, according to the pregnancy of Virgin Mary.

This investigation made an approach to the symbolic framework around water and any of its forms in the novel “Única mirando al mar” by Fernando Contreras Castro, in order to recognize the present relationship between water, and its cyclical notion, with the also cyclical conception that archetypally falls on women in passage moments and rites. In conclusion, in this text metaphors and allusions to water are used to create an aura of sacredness in a completely profane environment, which allows the offering of rose petals to the sea as a representation of the protagonist recovering her son. Therefore, Única, in the novel, not only looks at the sea, but she is the sea, because women and water are symbolically united, forever cyclical and changing.

The approach of these two stories aims to stablish an approach to what reading represents about nature as (quasi) character that accompanies the evolution of men and women who wander through it, and complement or distance, but without lose sight of the fact that nature responds to a great extent, to their occurrence, their experiences, their psychology, and their actions with others. From this perspective, the characters cease to be the center of the universe, and become part of the wild nature, usually, but passive at other times (the least).

Throughout his work, Hernán Rivera Letelier (Talca, Chile, 1950) describes the life in the Great North of Chile in the course of several decades of the XXth century, specifically in the Desert of Atacama. The world in Atacama’s nitrate fields is the world of the people that do not know another way of life, even though the offices and the camps may emulate an urban style based upon their architecture and their daily management, the destiny and worldview of the people is of isolation. However, the miners settled with their families on this region have learned to live in extreme conditions and, considering the literary device used by the author, their adaptation even comes with a sort of healthy resignation for the free time. The common theme throughout Rivera̕ s narrative work is the desolation and loneliness at that specific geographical space.

The pastoral visits constitute a work carried out by the bishops of the Catholic Church whose purpose is the inspection of the conditions of a parish, from the material and spiritual point of view. However, for the Costa Rican case, from the erection of the Diocese of San José de Costa Rica (1850) and until the founding of the Ecclesiastical Province of Costa Rica (1921), these texts collected data on the physical conditions of several of the visited places, including reports related to the behavior of the atmosphere, particularly under the episcopates of Bernardo Augusto Thiel (1880-1901) and Juan Gaspar Stork (1904-1920). These reports are mainly based on descriptions of rainfall, dry conditions and low temperatures of the visited sites, as well as their social effects, mainly collected in populations lacking a meteorological or rainfall station, so this information allowed to have an idea of the conditions of the weather and climate of each one of the regions that make up the Costa Rican territory.
