The activities of the Central American Democratic Union in Mexico are framed in the context of the development of World War II, just at the moment of the projection of a probable Allied triumph over Nazi fascism. This paper analyzes the solidarity that the Central American Democratic Union manifested to the cause of the Spanish Republic, in its anti-Franco struggle until 1945.

The review of human rights situation in El Salvador has become a necessary task, in light of the violence that has affected, mainly, the younger generation in recent years. Chapultepec Peace Agreement marked the end of a long armed conflict that left a painful balance of serious human rights violations The Peace Agreement signature gave hope and opened the way to new institutions for the reconstruction of the country. However, there is still a long way to achieve the full enjoyment of human rights, which goes through comprehensive attention to violence and the State's commitment to truth, the delivery of justice, reparation to victims and guarantees of non-repetition.

Under the premise that the primary function of the contemporary State is to guarantee the realization of the human rights of its inhabitants, this document discusses from a theoretical point of view, how economic policy in a democratic society organized through a market system, it does not contribute to the effective realization of human rights. For this purpose, the human rights approach will be proposed as the appropriate framework for the design of economic policy. Particularly, it is interesting to study the relationship between the market system and human rights, under the basic hypothesis that the democratic system together with the market economy, do not offer the conditions to develop and realize the human rights of people.

This text studies how literature has collaborated in the construction of peace in Portuguese and Spanish societies throughout the nineteenth, twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Initially it focuses on a founding text of Portuguese literature, Os lusíadas, of 1572, which constitutes a belligerent paradigm. However, there is also desires for love in this epic text. Later authors such as Camilo Pessanha, Jaime Cortesão and Fernando Pessoa will critique this epic aggressive model. This contributes to a peaceful society, currently the fourth safest in the world according to the Global Peace Index. In the Spanish case, some writers like Pérez Galdós made an equivalent effort for peace and harmony, but the social prestige of war, of conflict situations is still maintained in their literary works and in the current Spanish society.

The starting point for this paper is an event which happened on July 27, 1947 in Buenos Aires, the Poetry Festival. Within this festival, the Recital de Poesía al servicio de la verdad took place. Several exiled Spanish and Hispano-american poets who supported the republican cause and the antifascist fight took part in it. Among them, there was León Felipe, whose work and biographical trajectory are undoubtedly less known than other participants' – like Rafael Alberti or Pablo Neruda. For this reason, I examine here some aspects of his poetics, aiming at identifying recurrent images and topics. Taking as reference one of his main works, Ganarás la luz (1943), I approach the deep relationship between poetry and biography, the image of wind and the process of permanent rewriting.

This paper is is a comparative approach to two poetry anthologies written by republican authors in the context of the Spanish Civil War. The first one, Poetas en la España Leal, was published during the war and includes verses by Spanish poets of different generations, while Romancero General de la Guerra Española appeared in Buenos Aires in 1944 and is a sample of the popular character of the struggle against fascism. The contrast between both books shows different ways of understanding poetry as an instrument of resistance of the antifascist cause in Spain.

His poetic work reflects this point of view about the human, nature and universe. In this article we analyze how Martí sees America, the fight against tyrannies and the role of men and women in the formation of a more balanced society in the immediate and long term.

One of the aspects of the Antonian cult, of purely portuguese origin, lies in the fact that Saint Anthony is given a prominent role in the military field, as a protector of the portuguese army. From the middle of the 17th century, this tradition began, which, with the support of the monarchy and military institutions, led to Saint Anthony being enlisted in the portuguese army, among which he distinguished himself, particularly in the fights against castilians and french. The prestigious military patents and insignia granted to him reflect the success of the military actions in which he was involved, contributing decisively to the defense of national sovereignty. From the 18th century onwards, traces of the military facet of Saint Anthony put at the service of the spanish crown are well known, especially in the fights against moors and french, and also as an important figure in the process of guaranteeing sovereignty.
