In the present work it is intended to analyze the relationship and employment of the elephants by Hannibal Barca. The direction of the pachyderms by the punic general has been assimilated by the historiography directly from the account of the classical sources without any scientific question.Hispania, the Rhone, the Alps, Trebia, the Apennines and Zama are presented as the main contexts where our research is developed to clarify the true role and performance of these animals in the army of Hannibal.

En definitiva, se abordan los procesos emprendidos por Julio César, analizando su repercusión y significado en la gestión de la península Ibérica concebida ésta como un territorio de ensayo jurídico-administrativo en la tardía República romana.

This paper examines the dynamic association between foreign direct investment (FDI), public investment of local governments (IPUB) and economic growth for the 32 states in Mexico grouped by region and level of competitiveness for the 2006-2015 period. In particular, we examine the crowding-in and crowding- out effects of the two types of investments, as well as their impact on economic growth. We employ a panel data vector autorregression (VARP) model from which we obtain evidence indicating that IPUB shocks have a negative impact on the response of IED and also that IPUB responds positively, but weakly to FDI. We also find a negative and significant response of regional GDP growth to IPUB shocks, particularly in the north of Mexico. Finally, we find that shocks to FDI do not encourage GDP growth and that states in the south even experi- ence negative rates of growth of per capita GDP.

This study empirically examines the spillover effect from US monetary policy to nineteen European economies using Markov-switching models. The results of the univariate Markov-switching models validate the presence of two distinct regimes for both US monetary policy and the stock markets. We find mixed results when applying the multivariate Markov-switching models. The results report a positive relationship between the US interest rate and developed stock markets except for the Finish, Swiss, Swedish and UK stock markets whereas our findings confirm a positive relationship with the developing stock markets except for the Slovenian and Ukraine stock markets. Importantly, the nature of this effect varies during the economic crisis period. This study also compares the spillover effect between Asian and European stock markets and concludes that the effect of US monetary policy varies from market to market, however, changes in US monetary policy have greater effects on developed markets.

In this paper we assess the relationship between labor policies and market outcomes in Bolivia, accounting for a large informal sector mostly comprised of self-employed entrepreneurs. We calibrate a job search and matching model to reproduce labor market features in 2013, a period in which important labor policy changes were simultaneously active for the first time. We focus on some effects of three specific policies namely a 14th salary, minimum wage increases and contributions to a ‘solidary pension fund’ on the sorting of workers between unemployment, formal and informal employment, as well as on the formal wage schedule.
