Resumen
Introduction: the search for therapeutic alternatives for patient care with pathology of the spine is a social requirement, for which the use of ozone therapy is promoted. Objective: to characterize the clinical response of patients with spinal pathologies treated with paravertebral ozone therapy at the Dr. Agostinho Neto Guantanamo General Teaching Hospital during the period between September 2017 and August 2018.Method: a observational, prospective and cross-sectional study in the Neurosurgery service in 78 patients with diseases of the spine, intentionally selected and consciously involved in a preexperiment that consisted in the application of a cycle of ten sessions of ozone therapy by paravertebral route, during a period two weeks The following variables were controlled: lumbar pain intensity measured by the analogical evaluation scale; functional disability assessed by the Oswestry scale. Results: the majority of patients went to a lower pain category and 80.7% were evaluated in the mild-moderate category after ozone therapy. This made it possible for the highest percentage to decrease the degree of functional disability and the proportion with a minimum degree of disability function increased by 46.0%.Conclusions: paravertebral ozone therapy is an alternative that can help in the conservative treatment of patients with vertebral pathology.

Resumen
The case of a 20-year-old female patient who went to the Neurosurgery department for presenting pain in the lumbar region was presented. At the interrogation, the patient reported having constipation, urinary retention and low back pain. In the complementary tests, the most significant was nuclear magnetic resonance, which showed a hyperdense image at the level of D12-L5. Laminectomy of D12-L5, durotomy and tumor extraction, transpedicular fixation with screws located in T12-L1-L3-L4 with titanium bars was performed, a diagnosis of grade II-III astrocytoma was obtained. When analyzing the different aspects of the case in question, the researchers conclude that with the therapeutic behavior taken with this case, the basis is laid for the correct management of subsequent patients.

Resumen
A 25-year-old male patient was presented, of rural origin to the Urology office of the Royal Victoria National Hospital in the Republic of Gambia. He reported on the lateral side of the right hemiescrot yellow secretions. In the external genitalia it presented a mass of 38 cm long and 35 cm wide, irregular edges, surrounding edematous, dry, cracked skin, ulcer of 10x5 cm, non-painful and whitish secretions and serohematic scarce, loss of penile anatomy and dysuria The diagnosis of scrotal elephantiasis secondary to filariasis was confirmed. Diethylcarbamazine treatment and surgical intervention were applied. The treatment allowed the healing and social and sexual reincorpation of the patient.

Resumen
Introduction: climate is a statistical description of weather in terms of the mean values and the variability of the magnitudes. Global environmental change is the result of the synergistic effect of human activities and the alteration of the fluid systems of the planet (atmosphere and hydrosphere), where what is perceived is climate change. Objective: to describe the effects of climate change on health. Method: a literature review was carried out through the consultation of studies of different authors, available in the Virtual Health Library and on the website of the Pan American Health Organization and the World Health Organization, where synthesis was made and analysis of the most relevant data at the discretion of the authors. Results: the effects of gas emissions, climate, heat waves, disasters, diseases transmitted by food and water, as well as pathologies transmitted by vectors were described. Conclusions: climate change represents the main threat to global health in the 21st century, due to the multiple effects it has caused.

Resumen
Introduction: bronchoscopy since its emergence has allowed to expand the diagnostic possibilities of respiratory diseases, in lung cancer it allows to reach a diagnosis quickly and safely. Objective: to characterize bronchoscopy as a diagnostic method of lung cancer, its complications and most frequent findings, in the Pulmonology department of the General Hospital “Dr. Juan Bruno Zayas Alfonso”from Santiago de Cuba during the years 2016-2018.Method: a descriptive and cross-sectional study was conducted with the data obtained from patients who underwent diagnostic fibrobronchoscopy during the years 2016-2018. The universe consisted of 172 patients with suspected lung cancer and the sample was made up of the 165 patients who underwent the procedure. Variables such as diagnosis of malignancy, bronchoscopic techniques, complications and bronchoscopic findings were used. Results: 103 patients were found to have a diagnosis of malignancy, bronchial biopsy showed 61.8% positivity, 94.6% of the patients had no complications and mucosal redness represented 82.4%.Conclusions: the bronchial biopsy was the procedure that had the greatest positivity, the complications were minimal in relation to the number of bronchoscopies performed and the mucosal redness was the most frequent finding.

Resumen
Introduction: Melanoma accounts for 4% of all malignant skin tumors, but is responsible for 80% of cancer deaths in this site. The emergence of therapies directed against the BRAF mutation has changed the prognosis, hence the importance of identifying this mutation in patients with histological diagnosis of malignant melanoma since the rate of mutations of the BRAF oncogene is high. Objective: to describe the diagnostic, therapeutic and prognostic implications of the determination of the mutation of the BRAF V600E gene in cutaneous malignant melanoma.Method: literature review via PUBMED with the introduction of the following search terms: melanoma, melanoma AND genetics, melanoma AND BRAF mutation, melanoma AND BRAF V600E AND prognosis. 72 publications were identified. Results: multiple studies have corroborated the high frequency of the mutated BRAF V600E oncogene in cutaneous melanoma, offering the possibility that through the identification of this alteration it can contribute to improve the diagnosis and to guarantee a treatment directed specifically against the activity of BRAF.Conclusions: the identification of the BRAF oncogene mutation represents a prognostic factor and may represent an effective therapeutic target.

Resumen
Objective:To determine the association between age and the types of lesions found in patients with a diagnosisof low digestive hemorrhage undergoing low endoscopy in the Gastroenterology service of the Santa Rosa hospital. Methods:Observational, analytical, retrospective study, information was collected from the lower digestive endoscopy reports and the medical history files of the Gastroenterology service. The variables: age, sex, type of injury and anatomical location of the lesion; they were summarized to cards for their statistical use using the SSPS version 22 and Excel programs for the graphs and tables, the Chi square test was used, with a value of p <0.05 as statistically significant. Results:Significant sample of 180 patients with an average age of 62 years, divided into G1: (18-34 years) with 10% of the sample, the endoscopic examination predominates without evidence of injury, followed by hemorrhoids, G2: (35-64 years) with 38% of the sample, external hemorrhoids predominate, G3: (65 to more) with 52% of the sample, internal hemorrhoids predominate, with respect to sex 60% are female; The most frequent anatomic location was found at the level of the rectum-anus. In addition, the association between patients <35 years and 35 years of age with respect to the presence or absence of endoscopic injury, generated an OR of 18,514 which was statistically significant. Conclusion:It is concluded that there is an association between age and / or age group with the type of endoscopic lesion found, predominantly the age group GIII corresponding to adults over 65 years, in which the highest number of internal and external hemorrhoids was found ; there being an association between the age of the patient and the presence of endoscopic lesion, with an OR of 18.5; which indicates that there is 18.5 times more risk than an older patient with low digestive hemorrhage found by endoscopylow, so this relationship was statistically significant.
