Resumen
One of the most important processes and of which all other university activities are sustained is research. Research is creation, original production, development of argumentation and coherence of ideas, exhaustive review-deep reflection, solving mysteries and, ultimately, giving focus to dreams. The integral conceptual approach, proposed by Rico1, for whom the research "is to colonize a small or large plot, to plant, cultivate, harvest and distribute its fruits, so that later others come to improve, optimize and overcome our task".

The present paper delves into the information about the process of evangelization contained in the works of Domingo de San Antón Muñón Chimalpahin Cuauhtlehuanitzin —his Journal and his Relations— in the light of the author’s background and upbringing. Because of his status as a nobleman raised by the Catholic Church, Chimalpahin tried to insert the past of the Chalcas into the great scheme of the history of salvation. Hence the importance of approaching his formative stage and the analysis of their social relations.

Resumen
The Spanish neo-feudal conceptof privilege continued rooted in thecolonizing discourse several centuries after the conquest. Utilizing MikhailBakhtin’s concept of the superaddressee, my discursive study comparesÁlvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca’s 1542 La Relación and Capítulo XV inMatías de la Mota Padilla’s 1742 Historia. Although two centuries separateCabeza de Vaca’s La Relación and Capítulo XV in Mota Padilla’s Historia, the narratives use the notion of privilege to justify “their” social, political, and economic rights derived from the conquest. The paper consists of threesections: narrative background, economic context, and textual analysis.

Resumen
The objective of the research is to describe the development of botanicalexplorations organized by the National Academy of Sciences in the period1874-1887 through the Bulletin of the National Academy of Sciences in threeaspects: the purposes of the explorers in the framework of the Argentinegovernment’s interest in natural resources; the relationship betweenacademics and the different local informants about the flora; and thedifferent scientific results. The conclusions show that between 1870 and1887 the Academy was an important institution for the beginning of thescientific prospecting of Argentine flora through foreign and nationalacademics, an issue that generated the bases for a greater understanding ofthe national vegetation, its comparison with other floras of the world andtheir economic use. For the appreciation of Botany as a useful science to theArgentine State, academics linked their scientific projects with governmentinterests for the appropriation of plant resources taking advantage of localknowledge about the flora, an issue that materialized in listings, tables, tables, collections and specialized books. The originality of the article lies inthe analysis of the set of botanical explorations in Argentina through thebulletin in the foundational years of the Academy, since historiography hasbeen overlooked in this publication and its relationship with the history ofthe national Botany. The source of the research consists of the reports of fiveacademics, both foreign and national: Georg Hieronymus, Paul GüntherLorentz, Ludwig Brackebusch, Fritz Kurtz y Eduardo L. Holmberg.

Resumen
This essay analyzes two letters written by Ambrosio Eugenio Melgarejo de Santaella addressed to the Viceroy of New Spain, the Count of Aranda, and the King of Spain, Carlos III, respectively. In such correspondence, Melgarejo requested royal favors to have their children “lustrosamente establecidos” [prestigiously established]. Foucault's theory of genealogy, will shed some light about the meaning of regal concessions within the colonial context in New Spain, and the importance of lineage in the establishment of a creole identity. In the study of Ambrosio’s manuscripts there is a representation of symbolic elements that are key to Mexico’s independence. In addition, it is possible to study Ambrosio Eugenio’s letters as the starting point of some of the practices that afflict Hispanic societies today, such as the lack of transparency of public institutions, or the social, and economic inequalities among different ethnic groups.

Resumen
Although the well-known work of Hipólito Villarroel, Enfermedades políticas que padece la capital de esta Nueva España (written at the end of the18th Century) has been often cited and quoted, it has not yet deserved a real case study. The purpose of this paper is to contribute in this direction andexamine some aspects of the Enfermedades from the perspective of the Enlightment, and the Bourbon Reforms, but above all, from that of the careerand personal political experiences of the author in New Spain. This approach attests to the fact that even the most fervent supporters of the administrativemodernization of Charles III were deeply influenced by the American realities which moderated or shifted their thought in a fashion not considered bythe original Spanish models.
