Resumen
This article analyzes the American writers Sophie Treadwell and Ethel Duffy Turner views of the Mexican revolution, based on opinion and other journalistic pieces published by Regeneración and the New York Tribune in the United States. It aims to recover the female view and narrative of the revolutionary context as a counterpoint to the historiography of the period based on foreign male writings.

Resumen
The aim of this article is to analyze the impact that the regional context had in the ways in which individuals experienced the discourses, practices, and conflicts that characterized Mexico's long Cold War. The article focuses on the regional history of Puebla, a state marked by the prevalence of anti-communist and conservative ideologies, and by a close relationship between the Catholic Church, the economic elite, and the dominant political groups. Based on secondary literature, and the analysis of archival materials and periodicals corresponding to the period between 1930 and 1979, the article seeks to go beyond an approach that subsumes the history of the Cold War in the country under the framework defined by USSR and US power relations, and underline instead the importance of the local level in the ideas and practices that defined this period.

Resumen
This article discusses the trajectory of the National Children’s Union (UNI), an initiative led by the Mexican Communist Party (PCM) in the late 1970s, intended to defend children's rights. The creation and strengthening of this organization —alongside the defense of women's rights, sexual freedom, and caring for the environment— was a clear indicator of the modernization of theMexican left. Without renouncing to its traditional discourse, which focused on the demands of laborers and peasants, the Mexican left sought to put new conflicts and social issues in the national political discussion. This article analyzes the development of the UNI in the context of the modernization of the Mexican left and, specifically, the transformations within the PCM.

Resumen
This work is a brief overview of the conflicts between political and ecclesiastical structures in Mexico, generated by the enforcement of Cadiz principles for book censorship during Agustín de Iturbide government, 1821-1823. Works about curia’s political rapprochement to the Iturbide regime are well known. I suggest that uneasiness and measures taken by these two powers in dealing with obscene literature circulation and prohibition are worth considering too.

Resumen
This article aims to shed light on the unexplored case of the Corsican priest Giuseppe Maria Orsoni. He arrived in Mexico in 1839, and proceeded to beguile many into believing that he was in possession of titles and had been granted special faculties by pontiffs, all the while asserting a close contact with the Roman Curia. His case exposes the scarce communications between the Mexican Church and the Holy Seat during that period, up until the arrival of the apostolic delegate Luigi Clementi.

Resumen
In the early 1930s, a series of political auspices officially established the charro as the symbol of Mexico. Concurrently, charrería reached national-sport status and spread throughout diverse regions of the country. In order to promote both sport practice and the symbolic representation of the national tradition based on the figure of the country horseman, many charro associations were created during that period. These acted as the principal agents for the propagation of charrería and of its stereotype. Their shows amazed local communities, and revealed a social framework which included politicians, businessmen, religious ministers, and military officials. Based on the memoires, internal records, minutes, and periodical publications of the Asociación Metropolitana de Charros, this article analyzes the composition and social relations which favored the activities of said organization within the Mexican metropolis, particularly in relation to literary circles and weaponry.

Resumen
This work aims to analyse the editorial treatment of usury by El Tiempo, a Catholic newspaper during the Porfiriato, according to the new political history approach, not as an economic theme. The focus of this work lies on the writing and the political stand of the authors, keeping in mind that such texts aimed to discredit liberalism and to promote a Catholic alternative to social problems like usury. This is the first study on the subject which concentrates exclusively on said newspaper, which has allowed us to delve into the social thought of lay Catholicism before the Rerum novarum milestone. The results suggest that an original Catholic social thought developed in those years, which in turn encourages us to rethink classical works on Catholicism in Mexico.

Resumen
The article approaches the political content of moral discourse during the second decade of nineteenth-century Mexico, a subject often neglected by literature. Far from being religious reminiscence —as it is frequently conceptualized—, moral discourse was linked to the construction of obedience to the State. The origins of virtue and its functions, institutionally and within society, constitute a frequent subject of study. These matters are present in public opinion, parliamentary discourse, and governmental action, usually associated to religious tolerance. This article analyzes the process of separation betwixt morality and religion, from 1824 to 1828, and proposes that interest in morality was mainly political.
