Resumen
The social reconfiguration of technologies and the social and institutional systems that allow their emergence and use is essential for sustainability. This research delves into the urban energy transition processes through the adoption of autonomous / decentralized renewable energy systems, within the dynamics of urban change. The development of this process is strongly dependent on the competition between the actors participating in the urban energy planning process. A methodology based on literature review is used in order to propose a theoretical contribution.

Resumen
The aim of this article is to identify the most convenient clustering methodology to be applied in the restaurants’ sector in the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area (ZMG). An analysis of different clustering techniques was carried out, and as a result, the Kulldorff technique was selected to determine where the existing restaurant clusters are. The results show ten restaurant clusters in the ZMG, seven of them with a high concentration of economic units. The present study is innovative concerning the detection of clusters in the restaurant industry in the ZMG.

Resumen
In this article, we propose that the Classics carried out a process of exclusion of nature as a constitutive factor of the social and as an object of moral consideration. We are speaking here of an exclusion that obeys epistemological and ontological motivations, in which a double foundational need is expressed: on the one hand, of sociology as a scientific discipline and, on the other, of modern industrial society as a historical form of economic and social organization. We conclude that ontological exclusion leads to a moral exclusion that only the environmental crisis and its political and cognitive effect correct.

Resumen
Smart cities raise the possibility of using 4.0 technologies as an alternative to solve the problems that afflict the cities of the 21st century. Jennifer Clark's book offers a conceptual framework that allows the topic of smart cities to be transferred from a technological project to one of a political-economic nature with implications for social and labor conditions, citizen participation, infrastructure and real estate investment, and the relationship between public and private agents involved in the development and functioning of the metropolitan area. The book offers an analytical perspective that contributes to understanding some of the processes involved in the spatial diffusion of current technological advances.

Resumen
The analysis of the use and meaning of the sidewalks allows the understanding of social relations among neighbors and their formal and informal management. In the well-being of a local environment, the quality, walkability and use of the sidewalks are an important issue. Here is presented a research experience about the social life around the sidewalks in a middle class central neighborhood in Mexico City that is undergoing a gentrification process. Also are analyzed the conflicts that arise among neighbors, the atmosphere of insecurity and different strategies to cope with it.

Resumen
Participation is a strong reflection of harmony, solidarity and social cohesion in designing and preparing the policy of cities in light of global competition among countries for the advancement of all sectors of the state in various fields. Urban planning is an effective means of controlling urban regulation, considering that governance is one of the general principles of the city policy in Algeria, under which the foundations and approaches seeking to involve citizens, directly or through associations, in the management of programs and activities related to their living environment, as well as the assessment and evaluation of the implications thereof. This study aims to assess citizens’ participation at the local level and the space given to them during the design and the implementation of urban planning tools in the case study of Land Occupancy Plan (LOP) No. 7 in the city of Hammam Dhalaa. The study is based on the analytical descriptive approach and research techniques, such as site visit, observation, and content analysis, in order to provide the necessary recommendations to address a range of obstacles that narrow the space of citizens’ participation at the local level during the design and the implementation of development projects.

Resumen
Urban development in the cities of Mexico’s northern border has been marked by population flows and the arrival of industry. Ciudad Juarez is no exception; despite the number of urban development plans and programs, the problems in urban areas have increased, in particular, the urban expansion accompanied by deficiencies in equipment and infrastructure. This article analyzes the participation of urban planning in the process of expansion of that city to the southeast, with the purpose of visualizing the urban development plans as instruments for legitimizing growth.

Resumen
The value of comparison in urban research and its scarce presence in Latin American literature, justifies its critical review. This paper analyzes some comparative strategies that are, however, inoperative without a solid and well-founded epistemological position. The dialectical relationship between reality and knowledge, where both feed off each other in a virtuous circle, is considered optimal. It is concluded that only under these precepts, the comparison becomes a valuable instrument to approach our own context from other points of view and reveal the hidden facets and the essence of the concrete.

Resumen
This paper integrates, in light of the concept of urban acupuncture, two case studies developed by researchers from Peru and Colombia, around the problem of the systemic integration of urban edges to the formal dynamics of the city, focusing on urban renewal committed to improving the periphery zones that have situations of high risk and unplanned growth, historically forgotten by the conventional methodologies of urban and territorial planning. These zones are marked by situations of fragmentation and physical and social precariousness and negatively affect the conditions of habitability, governability, productivity, and connectivity of the city. The Peruvian case offers a methodology that integrates the notions of urban catalysis, the social construction of habitat and participatory design. The Colombian case proposes a planning instrument that, from the definition of urban renewal criteria in depressed peripheral environments, allows the establishment, based on the so-called socio-spatial consistency, of a strategy for addressing areas of high environmental, physical and social risk, due to the development of networks of facilities and services related to housing and other compatible land use. As a result, a comparative analysis is proposed, contributing to a re-semantic approach to urban planning, incorporating the periphery and facing marginality.
