This article shall present a summary of the book The Alternative by the German intellectual Rudolf Bahro. Its theoretical aspects and interpretations of the Soviet-type socialism are examined in depth as well as his proposal of how could this be overcome by means of a cultural revolution. Bahro’s analysis sought to explain the origin of the that system and proposed its transformation, convinced as he was that objective and subjective conditions were present in those societies that he calls developed socialism. The article also examines the impact on the Spanish-speaking world and the importance of his proposal to explain bureaucratic features and its overcoming, where he encourages the classics of Marxism. Keywords GDR, really existing socialism, bureaucracy, subalternity, intellectuals, cultural revolution

This article presents an examination of several discourses on the idea of al-Andalus from bibliographical works written by Antonio Machado y Núñez, Joaquín Guichot y Parody and Francisco María Tubino during the second half of the 19th century. Although they were closely related to ideologies such as Krausism, Darwinism and Federal Republicanism, they have been regarded as intellectual forerunners of a historical Andalusianism led by Blas Infante at the beginning of the 20th century, who showed a much greater unity in the political and cultural realm. Unlike this, the different mystifications and historical misrepresentations present in the literary productions of nineteenth-century Andalusianism would demonstrate that those authors never maintained a clear consensus on what the al-Andalus past was.   Keywords Andalusian nationalism, al-Andalus, historiography, XIXth century, Middle Ages

In this article we shall suggest a pattern in which, taking the concept of mode of information as starting point, three different systems concerning its production, transmission, and social circulation are to set up. This includes: the mode of culture exclusively oral, that of written cultures, and that of information and communication systems based upon electronic and digital supports. Each one of them is capable to generate its own configuration model of social memory, and thus a possible approach to the past, the social memory being the one that gives raise to collective identities and allows to integrate the individual into the group. The approaches to the past depend partially upon available research techniques, but is the mode of information the only one that permits or not their development. Starting from this model, it is suggested that the only way out to defend the importance of history and social sciences, is to regard them as fundamental models capable of examining the information into the present, due to fact that the great amount of that information comes from the past. Keywords Mode of information, social communication systems, collective memory, collective identities, functions of history

In a previous article, in order to contribute to the debate on the meaning of the Mexica festivals of the Veintenas and their position in the tropical year, I relied on the myth of the creation of the Sun and the Moon to propose that fire was the engine of the Sun’s ascent, but also of its descent; that the difference between one movement and the other is explained by the opposition incinerate/scorch; and that the results of considering this opposition in the interpretation of those festivals seem to contradict the position Michel Graulich attributed to them in the tropical year. In this article, a continuation of that one, I will delve into the transgressions committed by the male gods who were worshiped in the period of the annual ritual cycle associated with Tamoanchan. I propose that all of them shared their ‘cold’ quality, and that it is the loss or decrease of heat that made the Sun, Venus and corn descend in the form of deer-Tlaloque.
