ABSTRACT: The aim of this study is to make a detailed analysis of the negotiation and agreement processes uphold between Rodrigo de Luna, archbishop of Santiago, and different members of the Galician nobility during the revolt against the prelate of the years 1458-1460. The study will reveal the historiographic need to focus on these contractual processes as fundamental elements for a better understanding of the ongoing conflict, as well as the different applications that the archbishop found in the development of pacts and agreements both to achieve peace with his rivals and to confront them.

ABSTRACT: The Cistercian monastery of Santa María de Montederramo (Ourense) offers one of the richest documentary collections in Galicia, as a result of its opulent medieval and modern history. Therefore, it becomes an attractive space for analysis, with numerous and diverse study possibilities. In this case, the great availability of sources written for the 13th century encourage us to analyze the transition from the Caroline script to the Gothic script in the private documents of this space and its surroundings. This palaeographic approach will allow us to know how the graphic evolution developed; what was its rhythm; and what consequences it had, at least, in the near future.

ABSTRACT: The Cathedral of Toledo houses a large number of inscriptions from medieval times, being the most important epigraphic production center in the Toledo province between the 13th and 15th centuries. It preserves an interesting set of medieval epigraphs that, due to the materialization of its external elements, cannot be considered as original. We will address the study of the epigraphic traditio of this set of inscriptions, dated in medieval times, to try to establish its status as a copy, late original or ampliatio, and with it, analyze the moment of its actual execution.

ABSTRACT: by using the leases of the alcabalas, and other municipal income required on the consumption of meat and its raising, the demand for this staple good in Seville is analysed. The most sold varieties and the average per capita intakes are indicated, differentiated by social class. And the great abundance of this food in the city, its relative low price and good quality, is explained by its climate, extensive nearby pastures and the low agricultural exploitation of a large amount of border lands with the kingdom of Granada.

ABSTRACT: In this article we present the transcription and analysis of an unpublished document that describes the arrival of the funeral procession of Isabella I of Castile to Granada on December 18, 1504. It was written by an anonymous scribe and provides us with new information about the event. It details the components and order of the entourage escorting the queen’s body, the reception given by the city, and the procession that escorted this cortege to the convent of San Francisco, where the queen had arranged to be buried.

ABSTRACT: The aim of this paper is to synthesize the hectic political history of the ancient city of Sijilmasa from the middle of the 8th century until the 14th century. During these centuries this city was the main settlement in the oasis of Tafilalt, located in the southeast extreme of Morocco. For such a long period, Sijilmasa was the most important emporium in gold and slave trade coming from Western Sudan. With this synthesis, we expect to bring to light how the domination of the city of caravans was a strategic first level goal, shared by all political structures with imperial ambitions in the Islamic West during the medieval centuries.

ABSTRACT: The arrival of the Trastamara to the Aragonese throne favoured the geographical mobility of an important sector of the Castilian elites that settled in the new patrimonial territories. Our aim is to analyse the transformationsderived from this migration of elites during the reign of John II (1458-1479), in which the dynamics initiated by his father crystallized. Through the examination of chancellery, notarial and municipal records, we carry out a prosopographic analysis of some of the most prominent Castilian lineages and individuals serving John II in order to verify their level of integration among the local elites. For this purpose, we first focus on the process of articulation of his curial entourage as infante and, later, as king of Aragon. Then, we delve into the establishment of this new Castilian elite in the kingdom of Aragon and, especially, in its capital.
