The gelatina blanca de pata de res (GBPR) is a typical handcrafted sweet, of which there is little scientific information. The aim of this research was to characterize the physicochemical and microbiological properties of GBPR, produced in Andalucia (Valle). The methodology was focused on the quantitative determination of these properties according to the Colombian law. The analyzed samples met the microbiological criteria. Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus were not detected. However, statistically significant differences were found in the moisture, ash, total nitrogen and protein; as well as in the color parameters (L*, a*, b*). The obtained values of color difference (ΔE > 2.7) among samples provide confirmation that the procedures are not standardized. These results provide important contributions to the handcrafted food industry, highlighting the need to standardize the production and raw materials without compromising long lasting traditions.

In the framework of the efficient managementof water resources and the environment, the control of thesurface run off is an area of study of great importance in the development of cities, because their exponential growth and the increase of non-permeable hard zones produces greater runoff transport times. Thus, environmental and economic implications are generated that leads to the implementation of mayor structures for the respective transport. When the control by these elements is not possible, flood phenomena aff ect thequality of life of the population and emergency plans for these risks must be generated. The implementation of alternative sustainable drainage systems such as Sustainable UrbanDrainage Systems (SUDS) allows to reduce and to delay thestorm surges that occur in. Next, an analysis of results relatedto hydraulic and hydrological modeling and the EPA-SWMM,a program developed by the United States EnvironmentalProtection Agency (EPA) for the analysis of rainfall andhydraulic behavior of networks of Sewerage

The current models of endovascular stents havean auto-expanding biomechanism with shape memory materialwhich is able to adjust itself in the middle of implantation. These models have problems in implantation procedures in theartery; including problems of decoupling. As an alternative tothe situation, a new aortic adjustable stent was developed. Thismodel of controlled mobility aims to facilitate the implantationprocedure and the non-decoupling due to the hemodynamicactivity. A geometric design was developed, and severalsimulations were developed to analyze its biomechanicalbehavior using the Working Model program as a computationaltool. Some results were obtained that indicated the feasibilityand correct functionality of this alternative for the problem ofdecoupling and implantation.

This paper shows an overview of simulation intraining and support of surgeries with Augmented Reality, ARis a technology characterized by sensor perception enrichmentadding virtual content to the perception of reality. At fi rst thisarticle shows an overview of guided surgery systems and theprincipal advances in simulation using Virtual Reality (VR), andfi nally, it presents a group of Augmented Reality (AR) applications with emphasis on minimally invasive surgeries. In thisreview, it is concluded that one of the comparative advantagesof the training Augmented Reality (AR) with Virtual Reality(VR) is the haptic feedback. The new researches in this area arethe visual and haptic realism and dynamic tracking of markersand organs that allows sensory augmentation with high realityaffi nity.

Massive online open courses (MOOC) are new educational trends that, in the past five years, have drawn the attention of the most important institutions worldwide. However, there is not consensus in the literature about the role that this tool will play in higher education in the near future. This work carries out an extensive revision of the scientific literature on MOOCs with the aim of identifying the trends and guidelines for their development. Although this study is framed in the scope of electronics engineering, the results and findings are applicable to other fields of engineering and branches of knowledge. This review allows to identify the areas with higher potential of impact and visibility within the development of MOOCs, as well as the challenges and strategies for the design of their contents.

This article aims to explain theoretical background checks related to the software requirements specification conducted as part of the research project entitled “Method to specify and validate software requirements in MSMEs based on previous studies in the region”. It responds to the need to investigate the quality problems in software related to treatment that is made to the requirements as a key point to achieve quality products and processes, with the aim of developing proposals to help improve initially in the industry that it is represented from the city of Pereira. To do this, a study of some research that allow the account of the achievements that have been obtained in similar investigations and whose object of study requirements, recognizing from a regional, national and international history the origins of this problem becomes and proposals that have been developed to help its correction. Finally and as a conclusion, we find that there have been many proposals that in one way or another pretends to contribute to the improvement of the quality of software from requirements, but any method, process or guidelines clearly defined to develop a complete, consistent, modifiable and traceable has been proposed in any of them, specifically about software requirements for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Colombia.

This article presents some results of a research project aimed mainly to involve students in scientific modeling activities, through building computer models. The study was conducted with a group of 43 students of Civil and Systems Engineering from Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia, located in Ibague, and was based on the scientific modeling, the computational modeling and the Meaningful Critical Learning Theory. The main findings reveal that the implementation of the didactic approach based on problem situations that were modeled on computer programs, favored student interaction, discussion, the formulation of questions based on the Gauss’ Law and the construction of computer models used to represent problem situations presented, generating an understanding of concepts related to the field of knowledge.
