Over the last few years, social networks such as Twitter, Instagram and Youtube have become popular platforms for the publication and diffusion of literary content among young authors to such an extent that many publishing houses have appreciated the opportunity to convert the number of followers into sales. This is revitalizing minority genres such as poetry. One needs to question, though, whether we are seeing a revival of traditional classical poetry or the birth of a new “internet” genre. To illustrate this literary controversy and the resulting business issues, a corpus of female authors has been selected to demonstrate that these new opportunities for exposure, the breaking of stereotypes should not go unnoticed.

The article analyses the linguistic landscape of public signage in the cities of Almería, Łódź and Tarrasa (Barcelona). In particular, it deals with commercial signs related to sport The sport has been chosen because it is one of the great social referents nowadays. Contrastive analysis shows the predominance of international names. This tendency even exceeds the linguistic legislation that defends the use of vernacular languages. It is, then, a situation that reproduces the globalization processes of the current world. The empirical experience has also allowed to deal with some theoretical and methodological issues related to the study of the linguistic landscape.

This paper intends to study how Liván achieve the transposition of El Paseo Ahumada. Through McHale’s (2010) conclusions, we will review how poetry segmentation can be replicated into comics, and how the media affordances influence in the adaptation. It is also intended to analyze the source view from the adapter, and how it tensions with the affordances and the modes of discursive construction in comics. This work is relevant because it offers new thoughts around the process of adaptation in such media as poetry and comics, a subject that it’s been sparingly studied in adaptation theory.

This paper proposes an approach to multimodality within literary studies from a two-fold perspective: first, it introduces the concept of multimodality in the field of contemporary Spanish narrative; second, it studies three ways in which the verbal discourse and other semiotic modes can interact with each other within a novel. These have been usually put aside due respectively to their apparent redundancy, lack of connection, or contradiction.

The premiere of Les Contes d’Hoffmann, Jacques Offenbach’s opera, was central for the dissemination of Hoffmann’s literary work in Mexico. The reception of this work has been reconstructed from the interpretation of the notes, criticisms and announcements appeared in the press. This process is an illustrative example of the way in which this kind of shows became part of the public’s taste; also a phenomenon that allows us to understand how the work of the German was read and its assimilation in Mexico.

This proposal considers analyzing certain meanings that the expression politics of fiction has in its double meaning in the literary thought of Jacques Rancière. The aim is to draw the conceptual map of a contradictory thought, as literature itself, that escapes the logic reason / action. I will attend the two dimensions in which this statement would be working and that I consider affect what would be the strong core of his thought, that is to say, to the concept of equality. The politics of fiction in Rancière is, at the same time, an aesthetic of equality. In this way, we can answer the question that lies at the bottom of this double statement, and that rests on the perplexity that its concept of equality awakens: What does it do, how does it work, in short, how does his concept of equality act?

All appropriation practices suppose two things: on the one hand, it is motivated by the interests of the social agent. On the other, it assumes interpretation as a logical previous operation. This is so to such an extent that cognitive semiotics completely disregarded the study of the uses of signs. However, we believe that there are reasons to review the link between appropriation and interpretation, and the relationship of the latter with the interests of the interpreters. This is the thesis that we intend to develop, which arises as a result of an empirical work on the reception of tango by milongueros.

The present essay focuses on La colmena científica o el café de Negrín (2010), by José Ramón Fernández, National Prize for Dramatic Literature (2011), a play that is included in the trend of “theater of memory”. The play vindicates the role of science in the Silver Age, developed thanks to the Board of Extension of Studies (JAE) and shows how the civil war meant the end of all those ideals.

The present article proposes a methodology of analysis of the ambiguous narration in contemporary television fiction, a stylistic feature on the rise among commercial titles. Through the adaptation and application of the communicativeness formulated by David Bordwell as one of the categories of narrative strategies in his examination of the modes of narration in film to a sample of drama series produced in English-speaking regions, we offer a primary approach to the narrative mode of what has come to be known in the field of Television Studies as complex TV. Lastly, we note the correspondence between this model and a new phase of the audiovisual post-classical narration.
