The objective of the present work was to know the way in which the communication processes and thedigital tools used by the students of the Degree in Communication and Journalism and Local Development of the Autonomous University of Querétaro in Mexico, work collaboratively. Through two focus groups with students of different semesters, two dimensionsof collaboration were investigated: communication and dialogue through the use of technological tools. It was found that there are difficulties in communicating and talking when they work collaboratively, they do not know how to do it; and thosetechnological tools make this process more difficult. On the other hand, the lack of infrastructure in rural areas complicates the use of technologies to collaborate, which deprives some of this experience. Based on the results, it is concluded that educational institutions should support the adoption of didactic strategies that allow the development and evaluation of collaborative skills that generate a true dialogue that strengthens collaborative learning activities regardless of whether the technological toolsare used or not. The role of universities and the government in the coverage of the infrastructure for the use of the internet is important.

This research is part of the New Cinema History approach (Maltby, Biltereyst y Meers, 2011). It describes the programming and cinematographic showing between the 40’s and the 70’s in León, one of the 10 most important urban centers in Mexico. Methodologically it is a replica of the original Flanders project (Biltereyst y Meers, 2007). The research is supported by in-depth interviews, archival work and billboards. It offers an analysis of the social role of the cinematographic culture as a result of tensions between commercial and ideological forces, interacting with the processes of urbanization and modernity. In León’s case, the consumption of national and foreign films shows a correlation in the audiences according to the economic gap, especially during the transformation process from rural to urban city.

This paper analyzes the cultural adaptation for Latin America of the animated series Steven Universe, which promotes a progressive agenda regarding gender identity that has been widely recognized in its home country. This project aims to explore whether such an agenda would be preserved after the process of cultural adaptation of the show for the Spanish-speaking Latin American region. Therefore, we conducted a comprehensive analysis of both the version of the series dubbed to Latin Spanish and of the promotional material for the program broadcasted in the region. We were able to confirm that, unlike other parts of the world where the scenes and dialogues that promote gender diversity have been systematically censored, in Spanish-speaking Latin America discrepancies in dubbing are scarce and likely due to technical factors, so that it is not possible to sustain that there is censorship. We conclude that the cultural adaptation of Steven Universe proposes for the region a Model Reader that is very similar to the original one from American culture.

When president Evo Morales came to power, this not only collapsedthe traditional party system of the ‘contractual democracy’, but also had an impact on journalismand the relations between politics and press. Bourdieu’s field theory is applied to a relatively new approach in communication studiesin ordertounderstand the tension between autonomy and heteronomy journalismin a highly dynamicenvironment. Thus, the study focuseson a dense description of journalism, insasmuch as both the power relations in the field and the position of each individual media organization are analysed applying data of economic and cultural capital. To this end, the study uses financial data of media organizations as well as indicators of journalistic quality and prestige. The study shows that the changes inside journalismbetween 2007 and 2017 depend mainly on factors that cannot be attributed to Government influence. Instead, it seems that the special logic of journalismrepresents historical structures which cannot simply be determined from outside.

This article aims to demonstrate the discourses on immigration in the TV series The Simpsons. The analysis is based on two chapters that address the issue: nº 151 and nº 441. Its relevance lies in the importance that the TV series has as a global reference and cult. This is due to the format and background that come from being an animated series. And also by the way the television series is transmitted. Therefore, it is assumed that the discourses on immigration have a high reception and potential influence.

The main objective of this article is to offer the results of a first exploration of the way in which the contents of teleseries spread to social media, thereby contributing to their transmediality. The intertextual manifestations between teleseries and other types of texts are also explored. Final ideas revolve around the repercussions that this transmedial offer has on audiences, as well as on the options to continue with this work
