This article is the result of a qualitative research, with the purpose to analyze the types of violence by gender that Students as mothers face in different scenarios, such as family, educational and relationship context, and some empowerment strategies that they must assume to be able to fulfill their right to higher education. On these less visible, more accepted and less questioned types of violence is what we are going to reflect on, more specifically: In the physical, psychological, sexual, economic, and institutional violence experienced by the Students as mothers, in the family, relationship, and institutional context. To this end, we worked with a population of eight students who are also mothers that received the services of the University Children's House of the Western Headquarters (CIUSO), of the University of Costa Rica, during the period 2011-2012. Hence, it was considered important to bring up a topic that was being made invisible and absent in previous researches conducted by the area of Social Sciences, at this University Headquarters. For this research the qualitative approach was used, because it was of vital importance in the process of gathering and analyzing the information, by using this method it was possible to understand the different empowerment strategies, both individually and collectively that the mothers that attend college developed to face these issues of violence and be able to start or resume their higher education. The results obtained showed the presence of gender violence in its different manifestations by which means it was possible to determine that the population under study had a strong presence of social and political empowerment, due to the fact that there was a mixture of individual capacities, talent and willpower in each one of them and it was thanks to those personal attributes that collective efforts were achieved.

The rapid advances in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) in recent decades highlight the need to incorporate ethical criteria of responsibility. This incorporation will allow the approach of a responsible artificial intelligence (IAR) that will have to be based on the formulation of a new humanism. It is understood that from a technological humanism the IAR could be promoted in the current technological context. The challenges of the AI impose the imperative to pose a humanism of this type that assumes a commitment with a view to the future. In that sense, technological humanism represents the demand for a time of technological challenges and at the same time an inescapable premise in the IAR's approach. It is a premise for responsibility before a time of demands that can not be avoided. The important and profound advances that the field of technology has experienced place us in front of a novel scenario for humanity that demands a new contextualization of humanism. At the same time, this technological humanism is critical because it is aware of the limit and its conditioned condition, that is, of its position of scarcity that invites it to imagine what it can be and how far it can go. This invitation allows us to understand that the limits are not located in a negative plane, but rather as a sighting of the positive side of technology as a space from which to make possible the human flowering and a new way of working human.

The aim of this paper is to elucidate how the figures of the ogres (muérra maráma) and the tarocafárrafaes (tarocafárrafá maráma; mythological beings considered as another human species already extinct) within the malecu narratives, particularly the Pláticas sobre ogros (Narratives on ogres) (Muérrajá mausírrajáca), are means to shape the identity of the costarican indigenous group. At the same time, how these figures work as moral incentive. Regarding to the identity configuration, it’s exposed in each figure those elements that the malecu considered external and desirable to the image of themselves. As to the moral incentive, it’s explained how the elements in each figure lead to stimulate certain moral practices, as well as to reject other conducts; commenting the respective consequences that the moral acting implies, within the context of death, which is of great importance to the malecu.  Key words: malecu (people), ogres (muérra maráma), tarocafárrafaes (tarocafárrafá maráma), identity, moral incentive, death

The paper offers an analysis of the epic hero, as opposed to the mythical hero, in Greek warrior epics (Iliad) and Sanskrit warrior epics (Mahābhārata). The methodological premise that guides the investigation is that the various existing approaches to the hero are too general for their application to epic heroes, particularly to those of the warrior epics. The theorical bases on which the study stands are a combination between the heroic morphology (Bauzá, 2004) and the narrative elements (Mendoza, 1995). The main contribution is a typology of the twelve characteristics of the epic hero in warrior epics.
