Resumen
Introduction: We investigated the potential of the nursing team in the care of patients at the psychiatric hospital. We assume that nurses can increase the modes of existence in care through aesthetic experiments with the team, envisioning new possibilities for professional practice. The objective of this study is to analyze the challenges of psychiatric nursing practice based on creative experiments with the team. Materials and Methods: Qualitative research under a social-poetic approach conducted in 2017. Data were generated using artistic techniques and the group-researcher device composed of seven nurses from a psychiatric hospital of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Data were analyzed through global categorization in accordance with socio-poetics. Results: Data showed nurses distance themselves from psychosocial practices, there is hopelessness about improving the user’s health condition, and a high potential for aesthetic experiments to produce innovation in nursing care. Discussion: The categories were analyzed under Collière’s theoretical framework, namely: 1) The ability of care reduction; 2) the ability to mobilize in care; 3) the ability to perform in care. Conclusions: It is concluded that the nursing tasks have not been defined at the psychiatric hospital and nurses are not willing to change/create their practices in light of a clinic that values the hospitalized person as a citizen.

Resumen
Introduction: To describe the perceptions of private-university nursing students on the experience from the implementation of non-pharmacological methods to manage pain in childbirth care in the theoretical and practical components. Materials and Methods: Qualitative research with focus group technique; a semi-structured interview was used, and two focus groups were created with 16 students from 5-to-7-semester courses enrolled during the first term of 2018. Results: 62.5% of the participants were women and 37.5% were men; the average age was 24.4 (6.6%). 2 categories and 10 subcategories emerged upon analyzing the narratives of the focus group. It is worth mentioning about the categories that the participants identify non-pharmacological methods present in the theoretical component, but not all methods can be implemented in educational internship scenarios; concerns also arose about the minimum inputs required to develop a kit for the implementation of non-pharmacological methods to manage pain. Discussion: Based on the researched articles and the analysis performed, several authors established different non-pharmacological methods that are effective and applicable to mothers; nursing students apply such methods and generally obtain positive outcomes and lessons for improvement. Conclusions: In general, all participants recognize the importance of using non-pharmacological methods to manage pain in pregnant women during childbirth care, and they also identify that these methods reduce pain intensity, help reducing the length of labor, and facilitate communication between nursing staff and pregnant women.

Resumen
Introduction: The codes of ethics guide actions for an appropriate professional practice. Colombian Law 911 of 2004 establishes the legal provisions on ethics for nursing practice and conceptualizes the performance of nursing care. Objective: To determine how nurses see ethical responsibilities in professional practice and identify their relation with the service they provide and the institution they work at. Materials and Methods: Cross-sectional study among nurses working in public and private institutions. Descriptive and stratified analyses were performed. Results: A high percentage of nurses believe they always comply with the provisions of Section III. There was a statistically-significant relation between perception versus place of work in the items of respectful behavior, conscientious objection and clear nursing records, as well as, between perception versus services in the items of respectful behavior, location based on experience and training and completion of clear, sequential, and error-free records. Discussion: The results of this study evidence the fundamental elements of ethical nursing care stated in the scientific literature. Conclusions: Nursing practice involves a series of ethical responsibilities with the people in care that can vary depending on the context in which it is performed. This study found that the nursing records, conscientious objection, location based on experience and academic education are key factors of nursing practice related to the institution and service where nurses work.

Resumen
Introduction: An increase in chronic noncommunicable disease has been evidenced worldwide in this century; patients present with longer-lasting and more complex pathologies, generating dependence, requiring a caregiver at home; while different skills are required to improve care competencies. Objective: To identify types of support used by the family caregivers of patients with chronic noncommunicable disease and their relation with the caregivers’ burden. Materials and Methods: Quantitative-approach, cross-sectional and analytical study, applying these tools: "Characterization of the patient-caregiver dyad and Caregiver’s Zarit Burden Interview". The population comprised 62 dyads. OR were calculated in logistic regression. Results: 19.35% (12) of caregivers showed an intense level of burden, 20.97% (13) showed a light burden, and 59.68% (37) had no burden. Caregivers with intense burden state there is 0% of psychological and social support. The relevant variables in the burden level were daily hours of care OR = 1.14 (CI 95%: 1.01; 1.33), the higher the level of knowledge of the computer, the lower the possibility of increase in the level of burden with raw OR= 0.14 (CI95%: 0.02; 0.91), and adjusted OR = 0.07 (CI 95%: 0.007; 0.68). Discussion: It is critical to continue investigating aspects that will reduce the caregivers’ burden, keep them healthy and under appropriate conditions to perform their role. Conclusions: It is necessary to strengthen the different types of support for family caregivers to reduce the burden level related to their work.

Resumen
Introduction: The problem of global climate change that the planet is experiencing must be continually shown so that countries achieve an objective and consistent view, and plans and policies for environmental management are expeditiously developed. The aim is to provide –on a consolidated and up-to-date basis– information on climate change to be considered in decision-making concerning its impact on survival. Materials and Methods: Work was based on the literature review about climate-change aspects in the survival of life on earth; physical (libraries) and virtual (Bireme, Medline, PudMed, Scielo) databases were queried for this purpose. Results: Five key elements to be highlighted from the review: The evidence of climate change; climate change itself and its media construction; climate, its change and impact on health; global policy and climate change; and ecosystems conservation in Latin America. Discussion: Climate change is based on broad theoretical framework that must be shown in concise and up-to-date manner to contribute to decision-making about the mitigation of and adaptation to its adverse impacts on the survival of life on earth. Conclusions: Any action for the prevention, mitigation or adaptation to climate change requires current information to ensure its success after implementation, due to the diversity of impacts and vulnerability suffered by populations in different regions around the world.

Resumen
Introduction: An inadequate pregestational Body Mass Index (BMI) leads to maternal/fetal risks. Objectives: To identify the pregestational BMI to link it to the sociodemographic and obstetrical data of postpartum patients as well as to identify how the pregestational BMI and weight gain during pregnancy can be related to the characteristics of newborns. Materials and Methods: A quantitative, descriptive study was conducted in a referral hospital for 187 pairs. The data were collected from the maternity notes and the Certificates of Live Birth. Due to the absence of Gaussian distribution, continuous variables were compared using non-parametric tests (Mann-Whitney or Kruskal-Wallis). Paired samples were compared using the Wilcoxon test for paired data. Fisher’s exact test or Pearson’s chi-square test were used for comparing categorical variables. Results: Pregestational BMI ranged from 16 to 53kg/m², mean 25.0 ±5.9kg/m²; 41.2% overweight and obese women; the average of pregestational weight gain was 11Kg ±30Kg; mean age was 26 years. A progressive weight gain was observed in relation to the increase in age (P=0.009); obese women were more likely to be hospitalized for Gestational Hypertensive Syndrome (P=0.003) and Chronic Hypertension (P=0.026); among women with a high BMI, 24.0% were primiparous while 23.5% were multiparous; the average weight of newborns was 3146.8g ±559.7g. Newborn weight of obese women was higher (P=0.0034). A positive correlation was observed between maternal pregestational BMI and the newborn weight at birth (rho–0.219; P=0.003). Discussion and Conclusions: The assessment of the nutritional status should be made during the planning stage of gestation in order to prevent future complications.

Resumen
Introduction: Being diagnosed with a chronic condition is deemed to be a significant and critical time of a person’s life. Objective: To identify the impact of HIV diagnosis on the lives of those affected. Materials and Methods: Qualitative research conducted with 10 patients in a Specialized Care Service, in a municipality south of Brazil. Data were collected through an interview and were interpreted based on a thematic analysis. Results: It was noted that the initial impact of HIV diagnosis is perceived as a death sentence by those diagnosed. Furthermore, when people begin to live with the virus, they have to adapt their routines and adopt new views on their relations with others. Discussion: The HIV impact goes beyond diagnosis, since the person is living under a stigma, prejudice and social isolation. It thus is imperative for health professionals to be ready to communicate and assist in the diagnosis and life experience of the person carrying the virus. Conclusions: Care offered to people who carry the virus should be provided in a comprehensive manner, focusing on improving their quality of life; therefore, multi-professional care is critical to achieve comprehensiveness and effectiveness in healthcare actions.
