Resumen
Los cambios que se han presentado a nivel mundial, en primera i'nstancia en el ámbito económico, posteriormente en los sistemas políticos, o para expresarse en otros términos, en la forma de regular la reproducción de las relaciones sociales, han impactado, de una manera directa o indirecta, el proceso de urbanización que sigue diferentes ritmos y modalidades dependiendo de la espacialidad del proceso, es decir, si tiene lugar en un país desarrollado o subdesarrollado.

Resumen
This paper analyses the public political for the higher education as of the contradictions and characteristic of the material ways of production, the transformations of the strategies of accumulation, the crisis and the change in the relations among the sphere of it private and of the sphere public affairs. Thus, the problem of the quality of the education is discovered like an immerse ideology in those modifications that have effects in the educational affairs by means of the conformation of a new project for the public university, that maintains and reproduces the social inequalities, through institutions of higher education that tend has become in elitist organizations, at the same time, are submitted to requisited of a instrumental rationality, through the strategy of evaluation that privilege the selectivity, so much to level of the growth of the matriculation as of the assignment of the financial resources, for which the public universities abandon their critical and social function.

Resumen
Aging is a gradual evolutive and discontinuous process organized around a series of physical, psychological and social characteristics. Aging has several dimensions and has at least three possible outcomes: it can be succesfull, usual or pathological. When focusing on health of the elderly special atention must be given to psychosocial factors involved. Health and social services must be aware of this and be organized in consequence. The abscence of such integration will result on lack of efficiency for preventing disability. Health promotion and disease prevention strategies must be implemented if succesful aging for the vast majority of the population is to be achieved. I is at this point that modern gerontology faces its greatest challenge.

Resumen
The purpose of this article is to analyze comparatively the international migration that is originate in the regional context. To this aim the cases of three localities of the bajio zamorano, located in the northwestern part of Michoacan, are examined. The district El Carmen situated in Zamora city mainly shelters service workers; the rural locality of Chavinda has a population in which farm labourer predominate and in the indigenous community of Patamban there are potters and countryman. The study focuses on the international migration process that was develope during the first part of the 1980s, when Mexico experienced a deep economic crisis and was the preceding period to the implementation of the Simpson-Rodino law (IRCA) that, among others, allowed the legalization of nearly three million mexican migrants.

Resumen
In this article, I discuss the preference of the border cities to establish maquiladoras on the Northern border of Mexico. In spite of the option to locate anywhere in the country. Through an analysis of ciudad Acuña, in the State of Coahuila, I outline how the local government and entrerpreneurs have made maquiladora industry the main economy activity of the city. I emphasize how the geographical location of the city and the weakeness of unions have been important factors behind maquilador expansion. On the other hand, although there are excellent expectatives for this industry in ciudad Acuña, according to managers, I argue that some characteristics of this industry and local labor that question the future maquiladora development.

In this article the author analyzes the main problems that the Mexican labor force faces at the end of the 20th century, as well as the results of the economically active population projections for the first decades of the new century. Also, the existing labor market policies are critically reviewed, and it is pointed out that there is a need for extending and reorienting them.

In many researchs related with the social problems in water use, there is a point of view the still prevails about the link between the population process and theavailability of water, as the relation between the population rate of growth and the hidrological carriage capacity of the river basins, in which any increase of populations always is over the renovation capacity of the hidrological cycle. This point of view is opposed to that one in wich the problems are not explained by the diversity of users and usages or the demographic density, but the differents social forms that mediate its use, profit and overuse. In that sense, the propositions to stop the deterioration of the hidric resources have not to be only technical, but also social, and require a process of consensus production between the social actors involucrated.

Resumen
This document trys to show the close relationship between the recent population growth in the northern border cities of Mexico and the dynamic demand of the regional market labor. First, it analyzes the evolution of demographic growth and the development of economic activities, in the Mexican borders in urban towns, then it reviews the data from the survey called Encuesta sobre Migración en la Frontera Norte de México in order to explore the connection between the regional labor market characteristics and the internal and international migration flows.
