In this essay, I first explore some of the main characteristics of the medieval reading and writing traditions of the biblical Song of Songs. The rewriting of the Song of Songs in the mystical texts of Richard Rolle (c. 1300-1349) leads us to conclude that the Song was one of the most important texts in the exploration of subjectivity and love of his medieval readers, thus joining the hermeneutical traditions of both Jewish and Christian readers and exegetes.

The article deals with the Cahiers of Simone Weil understood as the space for a thought that is made through writing. Confronting The gravity and the grace with the Notebooks, the problems in the reception of the Notebooks is argued as a direct consequence of the mode of writing that configures them. From there, I reflect on the notebooks as the place of an intimate, exiled writing, withdrawn from discourse, that necessarily occurs in a fragmentary form. It is also shown how, in the experience of Simone Weil, the tension between fragmentary nature and unity corresponds to the impossibility of communicating the truth.

In this work, I analyze the poetry of the Bolivian writer Jesús Urzagasti as an “poetic of the wide open”. His writing suppresses the sense of deprivation and abandonment of open-air life and builds a province, with a tree at its center, as a propitious place to “inhabit”. Trees and horses representations show a territory left behind, which lives inside the subject. He succumbs constantly, to the memory of a happy past sheltered between the sky and the earth. The poetic word allows the return of the province that returns transformed into an oneiric dwelling during night and dream.

This article proposes an exploratory, panoramic and summary review of the main currents, models, and theories of literature that appear in the articles of the ninety-eight published issues of Revista Chilena de Literatura. This is a diachronic, descriptive, and critical study that follows a content analysis methodology set by Klaus Krippendorf’s model. The purpose of this model is to track and map these trends in order to give not only a global image of the state of the matter related to the literary theory and its participation in the formulation of the articles of the magazine, but also to set forth critical views on these approaches. This is a cross-sectional study of historical nature, which aims to link the articles to the various theoretical, critical and speculative traditions about literary studies developed in RChL.

This article reviews the first decade of Revista Chilena de Literatura (1970-1980), a period in which this publication shows notable changes from its foundational purposes. Through the reading of some articles about Chilean authors and their literary works, it has been possible to identify and interpret theoretical and methodological changes present in these articles, along the impact that both the Unidad Popular as well as the coup and the military dictatorship played in these changes. Taking into account these changes, the relation that the magazine had with its context and the strategies to re-position itself in the Chilean academic landscape in dictatorship are evaluated, thereby approaching formats likely to appear in fields related to scientific communication.

This essay reviews a corpus of articles published in Revista Chilena de Literatura during the 1970-2000 period. These articles focus on the analysis of poetic and narrative works that share in common the representation of the city and the urban space. The essay shows a diachronic change in analysis perspectives that shift from an immanent vision of the literary work to its insertion in a heterogeneous cultural panorama. By the end of the century, a salient characteristic is the approach to literature and the experience of urban interaction from gender theories, cultural criticism, and post-structural analyses. As a conclusion, the object of representation, the city, appears as a focal point of political, aesthetic and gender-oriented debate around the concept of Modernity in Latin American societies.

This article provides an historical and critical panorama about Chilean drama throughout the XX and XXI centuries, based on the review of papers published in the Revista Chilena de Literatura since 1970 until 2018. This study examines some prominent playwriters and plays emphasized in different papers, embracing dissimilar theoretical and critical approaches, which are related to each other. Our purpose is two-fold; first, build a canon and a tradition which will order our national dramaturgy; second, but no less important, demonstrate the contribution of the Revista Chilena de Literatura on the critical and theoretical studies of Chilean dramaturgy.
