Resumen
This article proposes a reading of the internationalization process of RChL from its foundation in 1970 to the issue 99 of 2019, that is, its opening to other literatures of the world and its critical potential in the framework of the Humanities. In methodological terms, this study focuses on four significant moments of this process which are linked - directly or indirectly - to the changing reality of Chilean history. In this general framework, the article first examines the beginnings of RChL in the period of the Unidad Popular. During this period, the publication participates in the national academic debate with emphasis on Chilean literature and its insertion in Latin America. This profile is dramatically modified with the impact of the military coup and the silence imposed during almost two decades of dictatorship. However, this is probably the period of the most international and at the same time “neutral” tendency in thematic, methodological, and ideological terms, yet bearing always an important “humanist” potential. With the transition to democracy, the profile of the magazine opens not only to different areas of world literature, trends and theoretical-methodological perspectives, but also shows a gradual but sustained openness towards themes, works and authors linked to the testimony and the memory of the recent past. Finally, the article examines the last decades of the magazine under the lens of the impact of the digital era, both in its electronic “materiality” and its humanistic potential in the horizon of an increasingly global internationalization process. While it renews and consolidates its commitment to Chilean literary manifestations, RChL also strengthens its connection to international horizons.

Resumen
This paper proposes a reading of the novel Esta parcela by Guadalupe Santa Cruz in order to unravel the relationship between writing, death and violence. One of the main characters in this experimental novel is a singer who has lost her voice. From here, this article seeks to consider why a singer who is on the verge of death decides to try different forms of writing. Therefore, the in-depth analysis of Esta parcela will show how the singer’s writing is confronted with death.

Resumen
Through the analysis of five novels of poet, narrator, translator, and critic Carlos Pujol (Barcelona, 1936-2012), we intend to overcome a terminological and methodological problem that encumbers the study of literary motifs, such as the search for the father that has been treated by authors all periods, since Homer narrated Telemachus’ journey to find Ulysses. Other elusive questions are also addressed, such as the hierarchy among the motifs of a given work and the interrelationship between motif, theme and genre. Approaching the recurrent use of the search for the father in Pujol’s narrative will allow us to delve into the connection between biography and fiction according to the writer’s literary ideas.

Resumen
José Donoso pointed out his interest in emotion as literary ingredient and effect. This text recognizes the operation of a donosian aesthetics that promotes the inclusion of pathos through a parody of the emotive economics of tragedy. The author articulates different novelistic elements in search of a mythical experience for the reader who witnesses the sacralization of waste. This mechanism persists throughout Donoso’s production and its examination will take into account his first novel, Coronación (1957).

Resumen
The article proposes an approach to crime fiction and recent debates around the problem of world literature. After determining the incorporation of the global as a theme in some fictions, evincing the place of enunciation of the analyst, and briefly reviewing the contributions that explore that intersection, two approaches are offered. On the one hand, and following the works by Casanova and Moretti, crime fiction is considered from a global and asymmetric perspective. On the other, and inspired by Luhmann, another theoretical approach is elaborated from a systemic perspective.

Resumen
As main object of study, this article explores the particular logic underneath the production of Violeta Parra’s work. Through the analysis of one of its modes, the burlap, the critical discourse intends to demonstrate, or turn evident, that in this logic of artistic production operates, as an active model, the logic of play, specifically children’s play. At the same time, the analysis also focuses on the nature of pain that circulates in Parra’s work and its place in the logic of production.

Resumen
Amorphinopsis atlantica is recorded for the first time in a lagoon system of the Gulf of Mexico. This sponge was reported in Brazil where it prefers to settle on rocky shores and estuaries. Specimens were observed and collected from the Tampamachoco lagoon in northern Veracruz, Mexico. Subjects observed were epibionts on Isognomon alatus oyster beds, standing out for their yellow coloration and massively encrusting form with prolonged branches. Megascleres both oxeas (331-774/7-16 μm; length/width) and styles (138-205/5-9 μm; length/width) were present. Based on the observations made from 2015 to date, A. atlantica is considered to be a species well established in the lagoon system. This record increases the original distribution range of A. atlantica towards the coasts of the Gulf of Mexico.
