Resumen
Landfill percolate is a liquid produced from physical, chemical and biological processes to which municipal solid waste is subjected to landfills. It has a variable physicochemical composition and may contain high levels of nutrients, thus being used in plant fertilization. Therefore, the aim of this work was to evaluate the growth of sunflower plants irrigated with water of moderate salinity and with nutritional supplementation with landfill percolate. The experiment was carried out in experimental area under a completely randomized design in a 4 x 2 factorial design (1: 100% fine grained sand - NBR 6502; 2: sand + mixed organic fertilizer (sugarcane bagasse mix, cattle manure, chicken manure, wood sawdust and agricultural plaster) and fertilizer 80 kg N ha-1, 3: sand + landfill percolate 80 kg N ha-1, and 4: sand + landfill percolate 160 kg N ha-1) and two saline concentrations of irrigation (distilled water or 60 mM NaCl solution), with 10 repetitions in 12 L pots. Growth analyzes (height, stem diameter, leaf number), relative chlorophyll content and chapter diameter were performed. Under the experimental conditions employed, sandy substrate, landfill percolate concentrations used promoted increases in all growth variables analyzed in sunflower seedlings, especially at 80 Kg N ha-1. Irrigation with 60 mM NaCl solution did not cause negative effects on growth variables, thus demonstrating the moderate tolerance of sunflower plants to salinity in sandy substrate.

Resumen
Renewable energies arise as a way of mitigating the environmental damages caused by traditional of energy sources, as well as offering a diversification of the energy matrix. Among the many energetic vectors possible, microalgae are a good choice for power generation due to their high conversion capacity of solar energy into chemical energy, broadening the possibilities of obtaining algal biomass in energetic applications. Through them, it's possible to produce biodiesel, bioethanol, methane gas and hydrogen gas as fuel. The present work evaluates the energy potential of the microalga Oedogonium sp. through its physical-chemical analysis and the calorific value, as well as the viability of its densification in the form of pellets, to be used as a solid combustion material. For this, calorimetric, thermogravimetric and immediate analyzes were performed, where in the latter it was possible to obtain the moisture, ash, fixed carbon and volatile contents present in the biomass. The results found in the analyzes were satisfactory, in which the higher calorific value was 16,13 MJ/kg, higher than that found for firewood, and in the standards imposed by European, Swedish and international standards for pellets.

Resumen
The knowledge of the physical properties of agricultural products play a relevant role in the study of industrial harvesting and postharvest processes, aiming at better equipment sizing and storage conditions. Thus, the present work aims to evaluate the effects of drying and different cultivars on the physical properties of split bean beans. Four treatments were evaluated, in which samples of fresh grain produced in the state of Paraíba and Pernambuco were submitted to the drying process for 30 h at 45 ° C and 62% relative humidity. The treatments were evaluated for the parameters water content, water activity, individual grain mass, actual and apparent specific mass, dynamic angle of repose and grain dimensions (a, b, c). porosity and grain volume. It was observed that the drying process influences the physical properties of the material, providing an increase of apparent and actual specific masses. The values of water activity, individual mass, volume, porosity, dynamic resting angle and mutually perpendicular grain dimensions decreased after the reduction of water content. The sphericity was differently influenced between treatments due to uneven shrinkage in the characteristic dimensions during the drying process.

Resumen
The study of plant litter including its production over its seasonality, decomposition and nutrient cycling process can provide information that contributes to a better understanding of the vegetation and how the sustainability of forest ecosystems occurs. This study’s purpose was to evaluate the production and accumulation of plant litter during an 18-month period in a forest fragment of the Caatinga biome. The experiment was conducted during an 18-month period, from April 2016 to September 2017, in the Caatinga biome. For this, 100 x 100 cm collecting boxes were installed at 40 cm of soil height to intercept leaves, branches, and reproductive structures. For the accumulated plant litter, a 50 x 50 cm bottomless planter box was used for monthly withdrawals of the material laid on the ground. During the collection period, the total plant litter production was estimated at 4302.15 kg ha-1 and the average accumulation of plant litter on the soil in the study area was approximately 4603.09 kg-1 ha-1 year-1 with the largest deposits at the beginning of the rainy season. The results presented in this study demonstrate great relevance for the development of management activities in the Caatinga biome.

Resumen
In poorer regions and even in large Brazilian cities, medicinal plants are marketed in open markets and popular markets and can also be found in residential backyards and in the nearby woods the houses Ethnobotanical studies in open markets and markets are important, since many times the plants marketed are not studied or have not had their active principles identified to validate them as a medicine or to take advantage of them properly and economically. In view of the above, the purpose of this work was to conduct an ethnobotanical survey in the free market and municipal market of Patos, Paraiba, Brazil. The research took place during the month of July 2017, through visits to the free fairs and interviews using questionnaires of the semi-structured type applied to the traders of medicinal plants. A total of 9 raizers were interviewed. A total of 36 medicinal plants were marketed. The most cited plants were cashew and aroeira both with (13.89%) and barbatimão (11.77%). The raizeiros and herbs have great social and economic importance in the cities, because the use of medicinal species minimizes costs with pharmaceutical drugs, but also is a source of income for these merchants. There is a wealth of knowledge about the rootstocks and grasses that operate in the Central Market of Patos, as well as a diversity of species traded.

Resumen
Beans are one of the most produced foods in the whole national territory, being intense the search for productive cultivars, with good culinary characteristics and different nutritional properties. The present study aimed to evaluate the influence of cooking on the centesimal composition of eight cultivars of cowpea: Costela de Vaca, BRS Marataoã, BRS Itaim, BR 17-Gurguéia, BRS Novaera, Paulistinha, Setentão and Patativa. The grains were submitted to two different procedures to perform the analyzes: in natura (flour) and cooked (with maceration) under pressure. The determinations of moisture, ashes, lipids, proteins, carbohydrates, energy, pH, acidity, and sugars were carried out. All analyzes were performed in quadruplicate in the in natura and cooked cultivars, and the results were expressed as mean ± standard deviation. The results showed that the moisture content varied from 7-11% in the raw cultivars, with increase after cooking (60-70%). Whereas, the content of proteins, ashes, carbohydrates, energetic value and sugars, decreased in all the cooked cultivars. It can be concluded that, among the cultivars analyzed, the Setentão showed the highest protein content, before and after cooking. Even with a reduction in the other parameters, the cultivars of cowpea maintained relevant nutritional and functional characteristics, presenting a cooking time between 8 and 10 minutes, being considered fast cooking and therefore adequate to meet the current demand of consumers.
