El objetivo fue determinar en qué medida algunas actividades que constituyen ejemplos de práctica o conducta religiosa están asociadas a la satisfacción con la vida en personas de la tercera edad. Participaron 123 personas de 47 a 83 años (M=69.76; DE=9.53), siendo el 75.6% de dichos participantes de 65 o más años de edad. Todos los participantes declararon ser de religión católica. Ellos completaron la Escala de Prácticas Religiosas y la Escala de Satisfacción con la Vida. Los resultados indican que no hubo diferencias estadísticamente significativas de género ni en prácticas religiosas ni en satisfacción con la vida. La correlación entre las puntuaciones totales fue significativa (r=.380; p=.014); sin embargo, los análisis de regresión revelaron que la puntuación de satisfacción con la vida es predicha por un solo indicador de práctica religiosa y, recíprocamente, la puntuación de la práctica religiosa es predicha por un solo indicador de satisfacción con la vida. Los resultados fueron analizados en función de la complejidad de las diferentes conductas que conforman la práctica religiosa.

Dada la importancia de realizar una detección temprana y oportuna de los trastornos del espectro autista, la presente investigación se propuso determinar las propiedades psicométricas del M-CHAT en una población peruana de niños de 18 meses a 9 años. Los resultados indican que, a excepción de dos, los ítems cuentan con una alta significancia en cuanto a la validez de contenido. El instrumento cuenta con niveles altos de sensibilidad y especificidad (0,88 y 0,83, respectivamente). Las correlaciones ítem-test fueron significativas en 14 de los 21 ítems analizados. La validez concurrente se evaluó mediante la correlación del M-CHAT con el ADOS-2 y una prueba de elección visual, siendo ambas correlaciones no significativas. Finalmente, la consistencia interna de la puntuación total y de dos de las tres dimensiones resultó moderada, siendo baja en la tercera de las dimensiones del instrumento.

El objetivo fue conocer la relación entre sentido de coherencia (SOC) y adhesión al tratamiento en 100 mujeres adultas con cáncer de mama de un hospital de Lima Metropolitana. Busca identificar también la relación entre el SOC y las variables de conductas de adhesión presentes, motivos, competencias funcionales pasadas y presentes. Se utilizó el cuestionario OLQ29 de Antonovsky y el cuestionario para medir variables psicológicas y conductas de adhesión, adaptado por Mejía. Se encontró una fuerte correlación entre SOC y adhesión al tratamiento (0,809), siendo el SOC predictor de la adhesión (65,44%). La variable estadio no representa mayor influencia en la relación que existente entre el SOC y la adhesión al tratamiento

El objetivo de la presente investigación es encontrar la relación entre la memoria de trabajo (MT) y la comprensión lectora (CL) en niños de 10 y 11 años de edad pertenecientes a un colegio estatal de Chorrillos en la ciudad de Lima (Perú). Se aplicaron dos instrumentos: la Prueba de Amplitud Lectora PAL-N para niños de Carriedo & Rucián y la Prueba de Comprensión Lectora de Complejidad Lingüística de Alliende, Condemarín y Milicic. La muestra estuvo conformada por 120 niñas y niños de los cuales 60 fueron de 10 años de edad y 60 de 11 años. Los resultados mostraron una correlación significativa entre la MT y CL, caracterizándose por ser baja y positiva. Asimismo, se encontró relación entre la MT y CL en los participantes de 11 años, más no en los participantes de 10 años. Finalmente, los resultados mostraron diferencias significativas en la CL entre los participantes de 10 y 11 años de edad, pero no se evidenció diferencias significativas en la MT entre dichos grupos.

This article analyzes the historic unfolding/evolution of Ciudad Juárez’s Historic Center as an elaboration determined by the interaction between its inhabitants, in three different sections. First, it focuses on the fact that it is a transnational downtown area in a border city. This urban surface, due to the way its history unfolded, entails a specific condition not only in geographic and space-related terms, but also to its architectural heritage expressed in buildings determined by its regional context. The second section visits / journeys through some conceptual discussions regarding the contemporary relevance of historic centers/downtowns and the use and appropriation of public space. In addition, it highlights the recognition and legitimation of the historical and architectural wealth of some urban territories vis-à-vis other territories deprived of such values, leading to actions and interpretations for their restoration and renovation. The third section presents a reflection regarding the interactions, encounters and disencounters, and practices that converge and contribute to the deterioration and loss of preeminence of Ciudad Juárez’s Historic Center.

The historiographic gap regarding the Chiapanecan nineteenth century, which is a period that was fundamental for the definition of this territory’s future within the new Mexican State, has begun to be bridged in recent times with new research based on primary sources that contribute first-hand knowledge devoted to revisiting statements that have been repeated as fixed truths. For this reason, the publication of two books that deal with the annexation of Chiapas as Mexican territory is a historiographic milestone that will revitalize the readers’ understanding of a key period in the past.

Following the dawn of its Independence, the Mexican republic, among the many problematics ailing a new nation, had education as one of the great challenges for the State and Federal administrations. At a national scale, conservatively twenty percent of the population had this benefit. The state of Chiapas was no exception to this. According to numbers from the 2010 census, Chiapas occupies the first place in analphabetism in the nation, followed by Guerrero and Oaxaca. Although this problema has origins running as deep as Colonial times, we consider the problem starting at the “Porfiriato”, a period in which, under a modernizing concept, the federal administration set to tackle the task of erradicating educational backwardness in the country.

A brief narrative about advances in a research project that aims to identify, describe and reflect collectively on the complexity of social dynamics in the Chiapas-Guatemala border strip is offered. Results are advanced on the field trips carried out and that were intended to identify some elements that define life on the border, from the perspective of those who inhabit it and of course from their interlocutors, in this case a group of researchers who arrived at their territory to ask them what they think about their life in what we call the border strip of Chiapas-Guatemala, the narrative offered here is reflected taking as context what is known about the border through books and media, as well as the discussion generated in the seminars on the concept of border

In this review I check Christiane Berth’s book from four aspects: its theoretical-methodologicalscaffolding, a critique of the teleological vision of coffee production, the support of German farmers to the government of Jorge Ubico (1931-1944) and the vicissitudes that the German colonyfaced in Guatemala after the outbreak of the Second World War. The commented work enrichesthe historiography about Central American region and opens gaps to continue studying it. Thepurpose of this review has been precisely to show them.

This article approaches the discourse and practices of two organizations of the Maya Mam people located in the Mexico-Guatemala transborder region. On the one hand, there is the non-profit civic association called Conciencia Cultural Mam (Mam Cultural Awareness) in the municipalities of Unión Juárez and Cacahoatán, Chiapas State, Mexico, and, on the other, the Consejo del Pueblo Mam de Sibinal (the Sibinal Mam People Council) in the municipality of Sibinal, Department of San Marcos, Guatemala. The analytic approach that was developed considers the emergence of these two organizations, as well as the goals they pursue, using the categories of indigenous autonomy and heteronomy.
