Resumen
In the Vizcaíno Basin, near the Bahía Asunción village, Baja California Sur, unconformably over the Valle Formation, an unnamed sedimentary Neogene sequence crops out. This sequence consists of phosphatic sandstone overlain by diatomite, which is in turn unconformably overlain by calcareous sandstone and conglomerate. At the locality Diatomite Valley, whose name is informally applied herein to the diatomaceous unit, index diatom species allow the assignment of these outcrops to an early late Miocene age, equivalent to the Subzone d of Denticulopsis hustedtii-Denticulopsis lauta Zone, of about 8.9 to 8.4 Ma...In order to continue, download full text in PDF.

Resumen
A new species of the genus Pycnodonte Fischer de Waldheini; 1835, of the Family Gryphaeidae and six other species of bivalves are described from the Tuxpan Formation of middle Miocene age of the northern part of the State of Veracruz. The new species is compared with the known species of the genus of the Tertiary Caribbean Molluscan Faunal Province. The geographic distribution of this genus is extended, as well as that of other six bivalve middle Miocene species of the Tuxpan Formation... In order to continue, download full text in PDF.

Resumen
Based on the study of spatial variability, the cartography of six chemical soil parameters-boron, pH, electric conductivity, organic matter and chloride-in the Irrigation District 03, of Tula, State of Hidalgo, was prepared through interpolation using kriging. Cartography referring to total carbonates, soil depth, percentage of sand, silt and clay using a weighted moving average interpolation procedure was also prepared. Maps showing soil textural classes and areas differentiated according to time under irrigation and irrigation water quality were obtained, by processing data using a geographical information system. All maps refer to results on a regional basis. Recommendations for the use of geostatistical techniques in future studies are proposed... In order to continue, download full text in PDF.

Resumen
In regard of similarities between dental sizes and patterns, Mooser and Dalquest in 1975 reduced to seven the 11 equid species suggested by Mooser in 1958 in the Cedazo local fauna. According to the improbable coexistence of so many equids in a single tanatocenosis, fossil material from these deposits was reexamined in a quantitative approach. Working with the hypothesis that the simultaneous presence of two or more equid species is only possible if at least one anatomical character is morphologically displaced. A frequency distribution analysis on the size curves-represented by antero-posterior diameters of cheek teeth-and of other quantitative dental characters considered of taxonomic importance-ratio of transverse and antero-posterior diameters and ratio of the length of protocone and antero-posterior diameter-suggest that the sample is homogeneous... Resumen
Research has emphasized pollen and radiocarbon analyses of core samples from coastal mangroves and lagoons and two upland wetlands and dating of raised marine terraces. Mangroves north of La Paz are underlain by up to 4.25 m of peat and lagoonal sediments, deposited over a mid-Wisconsinan coral platform (ca. 25,000 yr BP). Pollen spectra show red mangrove and NAP dominance and suggest relative sea-level rise 9,000 years ago. Significant increases in thorn forest, red and white mangrove, grass and cheno-ams take place after 8,000 yr BP. A progradational event around 4,000 yr BP may be the result of crustal uplift. Subsequently, increases in white and black mangroves and NAP, and decreases in red mangrove suggest development of paludal conditions... In order to continue, download full text in PDF.
