Resumen
The present article concerns the investigation of the relationship between ideologies and employment policies of three development models presents in Latin America at the beginning of the 21st century: neoliberalism, neodevelopmentalism and Bolivarian socialism, considering the cases of Chile, Brazil and Venezuela, which are not very studied with this focus. Based on a documentary analysis at different levels (Constitutions, government plans and design of employment policies), the results obtained allow the affirmation of that, although global conditions, governments have a margin of actions that permits the direction and configuration of determined historical projects. The design of employment policies reflects this direction, so they are not mere neutral technical instruments that can be transferred from one country to another.

Resumen
This article contributes to the discussion about State’s discursive construction in public culture, examining the forms of representation of the State that were mobilized by the Cambiemos’ government in Argentina under its proposal to modernize it. Based on the analysis of press articles of national circulation newspapers and interviews with political officials disseminated by these media, we reconstruct the ways of understanding the State that Cambiemos promoted during his administration.

Resumen
This essay reflects on the particularities of Ecuadorian feminist discourse around the texts by Zoila Ugarte de Landívar (1864-1969) and Nela Martínez Espinosa (1912-2004). For this, it is analyzed the way in which maternity is handled in their journal articles from the concept of strategic essentialism. Analyzed discourses also reveals the complexity of an own Latin American thought in which symbolic importance of maternity is not only linked to a pattern of female subordination, but also connects with the value given to sustainability of life through care.

Resumen
Based on a short survey and in-depth interviews that allows us to apprehend some experiences, this paper analyzes the social, economic y labor situation of trans* women who have been liberated from different male prisons in Mexico City. The analyses allow to know the life trajectories of this population and to reveal the precariousness and ruptures that exist during their after-prison life. This analysis contributes to produce knowledge about the reality experienced by some trans* women and to critical studies of the prison system and its social reintegration objective.

Resumen
Considering the scarcity of socio agrarian research in El Salvador at municipal level, the following work had the objective to identify and analyze the white maize value chain in Ciudad Arce. To do so, a market map was used as theoretical framework, focusing in the enabling environment, value chain actors and service providers. The present study was able to identify dynamics that differ with the nationwide maize chain of value. Additionally, it’s been highlighted the existence of a dense number of actors and multilevel cooperation practices. Text sums up by identifying two not extensively explored research lines related to value chains in El Salvador.

Resumen
A questionnaire including sociodemographic questions and a Likert-type scale named Beliefs about Extension and Innovation was used to assess quantitatively Argentine extension agents’ beliefs about extension and innovation. The sample included 608 participants from the public sector. Results show the prevalence of a conception about extension as a process of horizontal dialogue and inter-institutional coordination, even though a third agrees with a transfer-of-technologies approach (ToT). Women tend to score lower in ToT and more in self-critical attitude. In general, a ToT approach connects with a more simplistic view of reality, which contrasts with a more complex understanding, derived from a self-critical attitude.

Resumen
While some Mexican states have reached levels of violence similar to those of the most violent countries, others have maintained levels close to the most peaceful ones. What drives this violence? This paper joins the literature that attributes the increase in violence to the breakdown of informal pacts and the fragmentation of organized crime at the subnational level. Using a novel dataset, we analyze the evolution of violence among Mexican states between 2000 and 2017. The results of Poisson, negative binomial, and ordinary least squares (ols) regression models suggest that violence levels have been significantly higher in entities that simultaneously experienced higher turnover rates and higher criminal fragmentation levels. We stress the relevance of using different methodological approaches, linking the literature on subnational violence with the development of state sponsored protection rackets.

Resumen
This paper deals with the process of construction and reproduction of privilege as seen by elite members in Santiago de Chile. Based on 24 semi-structured interviews with school parents of five prestigious high-schools, we present three dimensions of privilege, which specify different attitudes towards wealth: reference to family history, taking advantage of opportunities, and an attitude of ease. Thus, we show the influence of privilege on school choice, though schools understand it in different ways. This paper asserts the importance of privilege creation as a crucial process to expand elite research and the ways inequality is reproduced.
