Introduction: The teaching of Cuban History in Higher Medical Education needs to be anchored in specific determinants for what it can contribute to the integral formation of the future graduate. Objective: To base the determinants on which the educational process of Cuban history should be based in the context of higher education.Materials and methods: Qualitative research aimed at strengthening the educational process of the discipline History at the University of Medical Sciences of Pinar del Río. Based on the dialectical materialist method, it used theoretical methods: the historical-logical and systemic approach. From the empirical methods level, a survey and an observation guide were applied to classes. Descriptive statistics was used. Results: 44.4% (12) do not master the professional model defined in the Medical Sciences for each of the careers. 55.5% (15) know the professional model although they acknowledge that they do not know it entirety. 85.1% of teachers (23) acknowledge that they superficially dominate the objectives defined for each year in the different careers. 44.4% (12) of the teachers think that defining the historical processes to be studied at this level of education is dificult. Only in 48.1% (26) of the classes visited the teachers did work according to the professional model. 27.7% (15) of the observed classes showed to be tributary to the objectives defined per year. In 51.8% (28) of the classes, work was visualized based on research, and in terms of historical processes, 50% (27) were able to project work with process conception. Conclusions: The teaching of Cuban History emerged in Higher Medical Education with the objective of continuing to consolidate the integral humanistic formation of future health professionals who will also carry out educational work in the community. The particularities of the teaching of Cuban History in the context of medical training require a different approach based essentially on the model of the professional and that leads to the teacher becoming a counselor, driver, of students who are autonomous, reflective and capable. In correspondence with these purposes, the determinants for the teaching of Cuban History have been defined in this research, which, without claiming to be a recipe, can reorient the teaching of a Discipline that is called to be a center in the formation of future health professionals.

The social demands in the inclusive attention to the students with physical-motor disabilities demand dynamic processes of professional improvement capable of contextualizing and differentiating the actions according to each case in ambulatory attention. Facing this reality, a research is developed that reveals the limitations in the relationship between the upgrade studies offered by the University of Pinar del Río “Hermanos Saiz Montes de Oca” and methodological work at different educational levels, a relationship that does not always respond to the variability of the development of each case, becoming a challenge for educators and specialists. The present work proposes a theoretical-methodological conception to upgrade itinerant teachers on the development of the psychomotricity of students with physical-motor disabilities due to cerebral palsy. Methods of the theoretical level were applied such as analytical-synthetic, induction-deduction, hypothetical-deductive and content analysis in its theoretical and empirical variants; other empirical level methods such as observation, interview and expert consultation were used too. For processing the information collected, the calculation of the index and the methodological triangulation were used. The conception is structured around four main ideas that promote specialized upgrade, in close relation with methodological work, and psychomotricity is also introduced from the historical-cultural approach. The evaluation by expert criteria allowed confirming the high level of agreement regarding its theoretical-methodological value.

The University-Enterprise relationship must be managed in universities, so that it can effectively contribute to the quality of professionals, the relevance of research and, in general, and the impact of the institution on the development of its environment. When perceiving some limitations of this management in the Faculty of Administrative and Economic Sciences (FACAE in Spanish), of the Technical University "Luis Vargas Torres", of the province Esmeraldas in Ecuador; a research was initiated that would allow to base a process of management of the relationship in this academic structure, to systematize and direct the actions in integration with the university substantive processes. By means of the bibliographic analysis and the survey to the professors and directors of this faculty, the theoretical and empirical elements necessary for the proposal and the regularities of the current management in this faculty are determined. In the article the foundations of the process for the management of the University-Enterprise relationship in this faculty are presented by means of principles that govern its operation; its inputs and outputs from a systemic approach, and the stages to follow; that allow the dynamism and strengthening of the interactions between both actors of local and national development.

The study was comprehensive of what happened in Cordoba, Argentina in 1918, its impact on the student movement of the time and its immense value for the Cuban revolutionary process, had in the figures of Julio Antonio Mella and Ernesto Guevara de la Serna two of its most important paradigms, which understood that the struggles for a new university should be inserted in the struggles for a new society based on socialism as the supreme ideal. Its objective is directed, together with reflection, to build awareness and contribute to the formation of convictions around the current problems of our region, which in a context of extreme neoliberalism makes the university and its social function is threatened; so the updating of the legacy of Córdoba to the new reality, is presented as a challenge of current generations. The results correspond to the need for the call for definitions, so that the "American hour" materializes in the new university forged in the heat of the inclusive processes of these times that, threatened by retrograde forces, needs the protagonism of Latin American youth, to develop awareness of struggle, intransigence and together with the people to conquer the future.

After a recent increase in violence, policy makers and advocates in Mexico have proposed new firearm legislation that would shift Mexican gun policies towards a more permissive approach. Following the argument of ‘selfdefense’, these initiatives would facilitate citizens’ access to guns by allowing them to carry firearms in automobiles and businesses. These initiatives have been developed without a deep analysis of the effects of permissive gun laws. In this article, the authors present an assessment of what Mexican policymakers and advocates should be aware of regarding permissive gun laws using the example of the United States, the nation with the highest rate of gun ownership in the world and where these policies are already in effect.

This article shows that the number of people seeking asylum in Canada from Mexico continues and has increased at an exponential rate. Canada has become a favorite destination for Mexican asylum seekers while Canada accepts their claims at an alarmingly low rate compared to those from other nations. We argue that the reason Mexicans choose Canada to claim refugee status is due to Canada’s long history of open immigration policies and especially its economic and temporary labor agreements. These policies give the impression to Mexicans that they are welcome in Canada. This proved to be untrue when Canada changed its immigration and refugee policies in response, specifically, to the overwhelming number of Mexican refugee claims.
