The objectives of this study were to identify the predictive level that personality dimensions have on the students Body Image, as well as their possible relationships, and to compare such variables according to the sex of the participants. The study population were students of three technical careers at a public educational institution in the state of Jalisco, Mexico. The sample consisted of 567 students. The Body Shape Questionnaire was used to measure the Body Image. The Neo Personality Inventory Revised NEO FFI (reduced version of the NEO PI-R) was used to evaluate the personality. Regarding the results, a multiple linear regression analysis identified the predictive variables of the Body Image —unsatisfied—, the dimension of the personality called "Neuroticism" and the female sex. In addition, significant relationships were found between the dimensions of personality "Neuroticism", "Extroversion", "Kindness and Responsibility" with body image and significant differences in it according to sex. It is suggested that later studies include other characteristics that could explain the presence of Body Image dissatisfaction in adolescents and confirm the influence of the predictor variables identified.

The present research aims to evaluate the antibacterial effect of Jatropha Curcas latex "Piñón" against Staphylococcus aureus. The disc diffusion method of Kirby Bauer was used in the research, the concentrations of Jatropha Curcas "Piñón" latex were as follows: 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% and 100% using distilled water as solvent. Phytochemical analysis and solubility test were performed on the latex of the plant under study. Jatropha Curcas "Piñón" latex was very soluble in distilled water, ethanol and methanol. According to the phytochemical analysis the latex presented flavonoids, tannins, phenolic compounds, alkaloids and steroids. The concentration of latex at 40% had the highest antibacterial effect at a 95% confidence level and a relative error of 5%.

This  is  a descriptive study whose objective was to analyze the characteristics related to the suicidal behavior of those who were reported by this event in Tunja during the period between 2012 and 2017; from 701 notification cards of attempted suicide of the national public health surveillance system (SIVIGILA); the results from the statistical program SPSS, version 22, indicate that 51.5% were between 16 and 25 years of age, 53% of females and 31% with agricultural occupations; in terms of the characteristics of the suicide attempt, a greater proportion is identified as a result of partner problems (39.9%); the method most used poisoning (62.4%) and with at least one diagnosis of mental disorder in 37% of registered cases. It is concluded that the suicide attempts were mostly in the young population, with slightly higher figures for the female sex, predominance of the urban area and place of the housing event, being the occupations related to the field those that presented the highest occurrence, corroborating the information obtained at the national level, with the exception of gender.

A phenomenological qualitative study was carried out in nine men, between 19 and 36 years old, in a maternal program in Cucuta, to understand their experiences of participation in caring their pregnant partner. In the narratives, constructions around pregnancy emerge, as well as its acceptance, emotionality and associated changes, meanings attributed to fatherhood and care framed by the duty to be masculine. Caring for their partners generates satisfaction because it fulfills the expected social role. Meanings of caring their partners, associated to "responsibility" and "sense of duty", sustained in the role of providers and protectors to their gestating couple and in the son to come, emerge. Men experience various changes: they suspend proposed projects, they are more tender and linked to their partners, they reduce their social spaces and perceive transformations in the pregnant woman and in the affective and sexual relationship. Their principal barrier is their work, due to schedules, working conditions and self-demand. It is necessary to involve men in reproductive health care spaces to know their experiences, to give them information, so that, together with pregnant women, they can be stronger to live the pregnancy.

This review proposes to reflect on the role that emotions play in relation to an unpleasant experience for the human being called pain. The painful stimulus causes situations of disability to a greater or lesser extent, depending on how it is evaluated and addressed, leading to emotional and cognitive alterations that generate a lower quality of life in the person/patient, from functional, psychological, occupational and social aspects. A bibliographic review is carried out, which allows the health professional to reflect on the integral management of the patient who consults for a symptom, that, if not managed properly, will trigger a painful syndrome that interferes and threatens its existence.

En algunos contextos se ha cuestionado efectuar investigación en el pregrado, ya que se le considera una labor exclusiva de posgrado, no obstante, es sabido que la mayor parte de los egresados del pregrado no efectuarán investigación como su tarea principal en su accionar laboral, pero si requerirá contar con las herramientas mínimas que le permitan efectuarla cuando le sea requerida o necesaria en su actividad profesional.

El objetivo del presente estudio fue evaluar las propiedades psicométricas del cuestionario de procesos de estudio revisado – 2 factores (CPE-R-2F) en estudiantes de ciencias de la salud en Cartagena, Colombia. Estudio de validación de escalas, sin patrón de referencia en 857 estudiantes que respondieron el CPE-R-2F. Para determinar el número de factores que explicaban el constructo se condujo análisis de factores (exploratorio). El análisis de factores confirmatorio determinó la validez de constructo y el alfa de Cronbach la consistencia interna del instrumento. El CPE-R-2F mostró un puntaje medio de 66,01±12,38 con mínimo 36 y máximo 99. El AFE mostró una solución de dos factores que explicó el 42,56% de la varianza total. El AFC mostró como índices de ajuste χ2: 962.783; gl: 166; RCEMA: 0,075, IC 90%: 0,070 – 0,079); ICA: 0,883 e ITL: 0,866. CPE-R-2F es una escala con aceptable confiabilidad y estructura factorial bidimensional de cuestionable validez de constructo que muestra utilidad en estudios relacionados con el análisis de estrategias de aprendizaje en educación superior. Es recomendable seguir investigando sobre sus propiedades psicométricas en el futuro en otras poblaciones similares.

The purpose of this research was to formulate and develop playful strategies to increase the level of knowledge about the Human Papillomavirus and the vaccine in a group of schooled adolescents who live in a village in Pereira, Colombia. It was used qualitative methodology with Action-Participation method. They were 17 students involved, as research techniques focus groups and pedagogical workshops were used, adolescents' discourses were recorded and transcribed; for the analysis of data identification of units of meaning, coding and categorization was carried out. At the beginning of the project the adolescents had poor knowledge about the Human Papillomavirus and the sexually transmitted diseases, besides they were unaware of their clinical manifestations; but at the end of the process they had clarity about the organs involved, protective factors, the vaccine as a preventive method and the relation between the virus with cancer. The adolescents identified the lack of condom use and multiple partners as risk factors for acquiring a sexually transmitted disease, especially the Human Papilloma Virus. The playful strategies allowed the adolescents to generate new knowledge through a process of internalization, reflection and understanding about the virus and the vaccine.
