Resumen
This work aimed at the development and determination of the ideal formulation for the production of cassava, as well as the determination of the impact of drying kinetics on its sensory properties. Three formulations were prepared for the production of cassava of the variety Valencia (sweet) and cassava of the variety Ceiba (bitter), for the mixture design was counted on three variables; (Cassava flour, sea water and garlic), where it was determined from the mass-energy balance and sensorial analysis with hedonic tests applied to people belonging to the Garífuna people, that the casabe made from cassava of the variety Ceiba is the most accepted, at the same time the drying temperature, heat transfer speed and yield in the elaboration. Subsequently to the selected cassava were determined percentages of moisture, dry matter, protein nitrogen, protein, crude, fiber, ash, fat, starch and crude energy. The chemical quality of the Honduran casabe was compared with the Venezuelan one, being different in its composition and due to its poor nutritional value, could affect the health of the Garífuna people of Honduras.

Resumen
The drainage system is used to guide the flow of water in the earth dams. Construction of drainage in the dam body to collect and direct the drainage formed in the dam body to keep the slope dry and prevent the increase of pore water pressure in the body. One of the main goals of the designers is to find the minimum factor of safety and, consequently, reduce the cost of construction. In this study, the Marvak dam is modeled with the actual characteristics of the materials in the Geostudio software, and with the change in the dimensions of the drain, the material and the slope of the dam body, the minimum Factor of safety of the dam is obtained. In order to predict the minimum Factor of safety, a two-layer neural network has been used. With the training of the neural network based on the data obtained from heterogeneous dams, a minimum Factor of safety has been extracted for optimization of drainage. Finally, it was determined that the internal friction angle of the body material and the slope of the dam have the greatest effect on the dam factor of safety.

Resumen
Daylight is one of the most significant light source which could illuminate interior spaces by passing through windows and light collectors. Dust and aerosol accumulation on windowpanes reduce the light amount passing through it. The main objective of this research is to determine the impact of airborne particulate matters deposition on past light quantity. In this experiment the most prevalent particulate matters such as dust, carbon, and a mixture of both examined with 3 mm common commercial glasses at single and double glaze windowpanes and several interesting observations have been obtained. The result of this experiment will help building owners to adjust a window-cleaning schedule to reduce their lighting electricity consumption and expenses.

Resumen
In this article, the design and implementation of an industrial plant for the treatment of effluents generated in the production process of a tannery was developed in order to achieve its treatment and reuse in the activities of the company. Currently there are no major advances regarding the management of their effluents, being these directly disposed to the sewage system which has caused the breach of the environmental regulations in force in the country, causing a negative impact on the environment, in addition, it has been wasted the potential of reusing them within their processes. Due to this, it was decided to develop a technical study that allows to implement the proposed treatment plant according to the needs of the company. The treatment system is divided into three units, the first one for Pre-treatment of the effluents, the second one for the physical-chemical treatment and the last one for the conditioning of sludge.

Resumen
The double-tube heat exchanger is one the simplest piece of equipment which performs heat exchange in a continuous mode between two fluids. In the present work the thermal design of a double-tube heat exchanger for the cooling of a liquid acetone is carried out. It was also evaluated the influence of the increment of acetone feed flowrate over six design parameters of the heat exchanger: 1) overall heat transfer coefficient; 2) heat transfer area; pressure drop of 3) acetone and 4) ethylene glycol streams; 5) heat exchanged and 6) total amount of hairpins needed. The heat exchanger must have a total heat transfer area of 6.0 m2 and a total amount of hairpins of 10 to fulfill the system’s thermal duty. Both the acetone and ethylene glycol streams have pressure drop values lower than the maximum allowable limit established by the process (110 000 Pa). The increment of the acetone feed flowrate causes the increment of the six parameters studied.

Resumen
In the present paper is exposed the study of hydric erosion at 31 de Diciembre channel micro basin from Managua. The objective of the study was to determinate the hydric erosion in the rural area of the micro basin, with the Revised Universal Loss Equation (RUSLE), using the erosivity rainfall, the soil slope, soil type, soil use, and practices of soil conservation. An estimation of the RUSLE equation factors was made in a raster format, and with the raster tools from the spatial analysis of ArcGIS, a erosion rate map for the rural area was made. The study suggests that the mean annual erosion rate rage from 25 to 100 Ton/ (ha-year) in the middle side of the micro catchment, representing a high level of erosion, and range from 6 to 25 Ton/ (ha-year) in the upper side, that represent a moderate level of erosion.

Resumen
The Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) is a technology that allows, through the use of a computer, to control and monitor the movements of a machine tool. The Superior Technological Institute of San Andrés Tuxtla (ITSSAT) has a CNC milling machine tool with European technology acquired by the state government in 2003 for engineering student practices. The machine was obsolete and out of operation, a situation that obligates not to use the CNC in practice for a while since the industries that manufacture them use licensed software and electronic cards that have a high cost for repair. The purpose of this article is to present a methodology for the restoration and start-up of CNC machines without having to resort to the manufacturer. The results show the methodology whose main function is the communication of the CNC machine with the PC through the implementation of the alternate software Mach 3 and the electronic card LPT-Mach 3 achieving the operation of the machine and the milling of materials with academic and industrial purposes.

Resumen
In history he will absolve me, the then young lawyer Fidel Castro Ruz denounced the evils of Cuba at that time, among them those concerning the health of the people. Since the armed struggle against tyranny, the doctors of the Rebel Army attended to the peasants in the mountainous and remote places. From the Triumph of the Revolution, in 1959, to fulfill the Moncada Program, actions began to transform the health sector into the well-being of the people. The thought of the historical leader was promoter of changes in health, which reached universal dimensions. The objective of this work is to carry out a logical historical analysis of the importance of Fidel's thought and work for the historical development of health professional training and the main achievements of Cuban medicine. A literature review was performed, the theoretical-historical-logical method was used. Fidel's ideas have contributed to the development of medical care, teaching and research, and influenced programs aimed at primary and specialized care, which consolidated the National Health System. Inspired by its legacy, its solidarity and humanistic values, medical collaboration has extended too many countries. His thinking, in force as a revolutionary doctrine, proclaims that a world governed by values for the good of the citizen is possible, necessary and cannot be postponed. His ideology and work in health is a perennial reference for students and professionals in Cuba and other countries, because it constitutes the political and ideological foundation of the principles of Public Health in Cuba.

Resumen
Introduction: The analysis of the health situation in Cuba is an essential working tool for the family doctor and nurse programme. It constitutes a motivation for directors at University of Illinois, in Chicago, to carry out it in a high-risk community (Englewood) with a high rate of infant mortality, for which they request the participation of Cuban specialists for its preparation. Objective: To demonstrate the feasibility of an official alliance between the University of Illinois at Chicago and the Cuban Ministry of Public Health. Methods: Women between the ages of 18 and 49 who attended the Mile Square Health Clinic in the Englewood community in 2016 were defined as the universe. The process of recruiting women was carried out through letters sent to these women, and then 50 women were selected to constitute the sample. Results: All the women surveyed were highlighted, a high number were found to have no declared partner, most were dispensed as Group III because they were carriers of chronic diseases. They did not use contraceptive methods and there were a large number of multiparous women. Also, the number of late and low-birth-weight pregnancies was significant. Conclusions: Through the alliance between the Cuban team and the University of Illinois, we were able to carry out a study, according to Cuban methodology, that shows the results of the disparity of attention to black and poor communities. It is shown that African-American children under one year of age have mortality rates four times higher than whites, with preterm births behaving in the same way.
