This work presents an experimental study of the absorption capacity of crude oil contained in an aqueous medium, using corn cob as absorbent material. An experimental design of the generalized factorial type is proposed, taking into account the following factors: particle size, API density of the oil, temperature and salinity of the water; the values ​​of the levels corresponding to each factor emulate the behavior of a real oil spill. 36 experimental runs are carried out, the percentage of oil absorbed in a sample of corn cob is measured, from a statistical analysis of variance, it is possible to determine the factors that have greater and lesser effect on the absorption process; it is observed that the salinity of the water is a factor that has a greater effect on the absorption process, while the API gravity has a lesser effect. In addition, the result of an analysis of optimization of the conditions and quality of oil that present the highest percentage of absorption is presented.

In this paper, the processes of a fruit processing company were evaluated, taking into account the situation with customers, suppliers, and relatives or non-relatives who are directly or indirectly involved, in order to find opportunities for improvement or change, and from this way to solve the problems of productive continuity and placement of its products. For this, production evaluation methods were used through direct observation techniques and interviews with partners, which allowed an analysis of the external and internal situation of the company and to verify a situation similar to the reality of micro and small companies in the country; where the planning is insufficient, the organization of production is scarce, there is a lack of standardization in processes and products, and that, aggravated by technical problems, they keep them in a situation of ineffectiveness and conditions of manual artisanal work. All this causes low productivity, quality, supply of products, insufficient income and staff demotivation.

The article aims to present the result of the evaluation and improvement of the technological capacity of the Empresa de Investigaciones, Proyectos e Ingeniería de Matanzas (EIPI), Cuba. For this, the procedure for the Calculation and Improvement of Technological Capacity in Business Organizations was applied, in a period of three years (2018-2020). This procedure is based on five capacity factors, 17 indicators and 49 variables. The main result of the investigation was the improvement of the technological capacity index (CTemp) of the company in the years evaluated from the identification of the weak variables of the organization and the corresponding actions for continuous improvement. As a fundamental conclusion, the implemented procedure allowed evaluates and improve CTemp in EIPI, taking it from 49% to 58% as a result of improvement actions.

The study focuses on the analysis of a poultry production and it is developed with the aim of evaluating the application of the circular economy philosophy in this type of product during the 2021. An evaluation is carried out in order to propose the waste reuse through circular economy methodological tools within the sector. This research is characterized by applying a qualitative methodology in which a set of systematic and critical processes are used through a circular economy survey validated in previous studies. Among the results obtained, it was found that, in poultry production continues working in a linear economy. In this poultry company, the circular economy is at a low level of application despite the fact that it represents an effective alternative to achieve sustainable development and that the current legislation promotes its implementation.

Production is a daily activity carried out by companies, making the most of available resources, depending on the production capacity of the production plant to deliver a final product that generates customer satisfaction. The objective of this article is to evaluate the productive capacity of a footwear company in Ambato, Ecuador. The applied methodological procedure considers the calculation of the productive capacities in the four productive processes (Cutting, Setting, Assembly and Finishing) that the company has. Through the study of 51 operations that the production plant has in its entirety, the limiting point is found in the Aparado process. Based on the results, alternative solutions are proposed such as: mobilizing personnel from other areas where demand exceeds or, in turn, outsourcing in order to meet monthly demand. These strategies allow the company to meet its demand and increase the productivity.

The objective of the work is to measure the increase in value of the leather, when it passes from one link to another in the chain. The Value Chain of Natural Leather Articles in Cuba, (CVAPN) is structured in a group of companies that make up the productive chain where the different actors that participate relate to each other, managing to add value along the different links. As a method, the difference between added value (VA) and gather value was established, the different activities that are carried out in each link, their cost and the way in which they are intertwined. It is concluded that a way to measure business processes based on the value that is consumed and produced through a transformation considering input costs as added value in the product and price as new value generated.

The application of tools and best practices for Quality Management is acknowledged as of great importance for performance improvement on process from Higher Education as well as health care institutions. This research aims to develop a model for improvement management to Research and Innovation System in medical universities. A qualitative and quantitative study was conducted. The research resulted on the identification and conceptualization of interrelated key variables on organizations performance management, and subsequently described a model that integrates quality management tools, focuses on health care research and innovation performance improvement based seeking failure reduction, more efficiency, effectiveness, and control of academic processes.  

This article presents a bibliographic review on the theme of Museums, heritage and museum education, bringing a collection of scientific articles in order to discuss museums and science from the perspective of the field and the challenges in the Anthropocene, a more recent period of big global transformations. The chosen texts that make up this literature review deal with subjects such as educational practices in museums, science and art, cultural heritage, historical awareness, technology and innovation applied to museums. From the readings, it was possible to observe a growing interest in studies involving the theme of museums and related themes as heritage, especially with regard to new proposals or innovative proposals that give museums with the use of technologies an important role in the learning process of society as a whole. With the emergence of the pandemic in 2021, the search for new practices of access to museums and awareness of the actions and responsibilities that people have about the present and future in relation to environmental, political, social, economic and cultural issues are made even more necessary

This study analyzes fake news published on the website of the Brazilian Department of Health about COVID-19 in 2020. It argues that different forms of disinformation were constituted into reified communicative processes. The study emphasizes the emergence of a disinformation production circuit whose logic is the trivialization of informational practices manifested through fake news. The methodology applied here is of an exploratory-descriptive work with a qualitative approach and content analysis. The analyses prompted the emergence of six categories obtained a posteriori: main theme, language, elements that make up the news, rhetorical devices, devices for attributing credibility to the news, and fact-checking procedures. It can be affirmed that the news articles found are based on instrumental compositions that articulate themes related to the pandemic in a simplistic way, with language that disregards grammar norms, and resorting to the combined use of several elements, specially through text and image, and of different rhetorical devices – with the recurrent use of authorities to attribute credibility to the news, and the presence of inconsistencies in fact-checking procedures by Department of Health. Finally, it can be affirmed that the fact-checking carried out by the Brazilian Department of Health had as reference the politicization of the disease in face of the tension between science, politics and the market, which compromises the fight against this health crisis and corroborates the instrumental logic of the information circulating on the web
