This research examine the dynamics of labor income inequality within two territories with structurally different economic and social characteristics: Ecuador and the United States. We consider as measures of inequality the Gini coefficient and the Palma index, the measurements selected presents a view of inequality from a perspective of the variations of the midpoint of distribution (Gini) and the changes of poles of the same (Palma). After estimations, we identified a decreasing trend of inequality in Ecuador, and in United States an upward trend in income disparities. Among the factors that could explain this trend in Ecuador are the dependence of this economy on the commodities prices, the redistributive policies promoted by a leftist government -increase in public spending on education, health and social welfare- and increase of public employment. In contrast, in US we consider as determinants of increasing inequality: unions in decline, deindustrialization and delocalization, neoliberalism, technological change, education and financialization.

This work focuses on Mexican transnational families originating in Cosalá, Sinaloa, established in the state of Arizona. The application of anti-immigrant laws and policies in this state has been more severe than in the rest of the United States, negatively affecting the lives of thousands of immigrants, particularly members of families with mixed immigration status, which has caused, in recent years, the increase of the return migration flow to communities of origin in Mexico. Empirical evidence shows us that the return is presented as a resilience strategy and as another stage of the mobility dynamics of the transnational family. The adaptation and survival strategies of the transnational families are analyzed in the face of the current conditions of extreme adversity, using resilience as an analytical tool to understand the subjective elements in the development of adaptation attitudes and fight against such adverse conditions.

The purpose of this document is to determine whether there are convergence or divergence processes in South America from 1960 to 2015, for which data was collected on the Gross Domestic Product per capita of the ten main countries in the region. Next, we proceeded to calculate the sigma convergence, which implies that the "poorest" economies tend to grow more than the "rich" economies, and also the beta convergence, which allows us to know the level at which the backward economies grow the more than rich economies. In addition, beta convergence has been determined for different groups of countries in this same region. Once the methodology was applied, it was possible to determine that there are no marked economic convergence processes for South America and the convergence in the long term that arises in the orthodox economy is refuted, but for the countries of the Atlantic the Baumol affirmation is verified, he says that the convergence results only happen between rich countries, showing that the inequalities in the region are very marked, the accumulation of capital continuously widens the economic gap between countries.

The article presents an analysis about the characteristics of individuals that are part of youth underemployment. For this purpose, the methodology used is the estimation of probabilistic models, with the use of micro-data that focus precisely on analyzing the main characteristics of those who do not have adequate employment (commonly known as underemployed). The study segments the variables used in the estimates into three categories: demographic characteristics, human capital and socioeconomic conditions. Within these three categories, there are characteristics of young individuals that lead them to have precarious jobs such as those offered by underemployment. For example, the results show discriminatory gender and ethnic components. It also highlights the importance of the area in which the young individual resides, its family structure and how many qualifications, in terms of human capital, it has. The study also considers the incidence of the socioeconomic situation of the individual in determining the probability of being or not underemployed.

Contemporary and updated immersion in the thought of the philosopher, theologian and historian Enrique Dussel. Given the depth of his thought and the extent of his bibliography, this article draws critically on the link between his project of liberation and his foundation of ethics, a proposal that runs through his work, although it is especially condensed in the years that act as a hinge between the 20th and 21st centuries. With that starting point, it is analyzed the plurality of influences and paths that run through the philosophies of Latin American liberation, seen above all through the classification of the also liberation philosopher Horacio Cerutti. All this to put the focus on the lights and shadows of the domination-liberation schemes proposed by the Argentine-Mexican thinker Dussel. Especially relevant are the liberations directly linked to the three transversal dominations that he extracts from the face of the levinasian Other, that is, the widow, the poor and the foreigner, from which he establishes the respective erotic liberations (against male and patriarchal domination), pedagogical (against the educational model based on repetition) and political (against man as a wolf for man).

This paper narrates the experiences, feelings and tasks of teachers in the province of Chubut after having suffered countless rejections by the government to reconcile free and homeless parity, salary increase and infrastructure improvement in public schools. It describes how teachers organized and united in their interventions implement different strategies to combat the economic and social adjustments that the government carries out. This movement generated from the faculty of Chubut has its particularity, since they were not only “Teachers in Struggle” claiming for their rights, but also different union associations of the state, representatives of the health area, public works, private school unions , education assistants, self-convened who did not belong to any union affiliation but who identified with the cause. This article analyzes from a critical posture the difficulties that are experienced in a situation of teacher alertness and mobilization and also approaches some reflections that treasure these collective struggles.
