Despite the growing use of humor in advertising, cartoon is not yet common. This article analyzes the campaign that Galician artist Kiko da Silva made for the Dental Association of Pontevedra and Ourense in 2015 to warn population of potential risks of new dental franchised clinics and to promote to «lifelong» dentists as an alternative. We have reviewed some of the literature on humor in advertising, analyzed the two campaign ads and interviewed both the humorist who executed it as advertisers who designed it. It has been concluded that the strips helped to fix the readers’ attention and to make them to reflect on the subject.

The article studies the media portrayal of people in movement (refugees, migrants and displaced persons) in seven countries of the southern border of the European Union in 2015 and 2016, a period during which the migratory flow increased due to a change in the routes. The purpose of this research is to compare how the media in Bulgaria, Cyprus, Greece, Malta, Italy, Poland and Spain have treated the largest flow of people arrived at Europe since the Second World War. For this purpose, 749 journalistic pieces have been content-analysed. Results show clear deficiencies in the information treatment on migration and refuge in the selected media, with poor contextualization and an irregular attention to this kind of issues.

The main objective of this study is to help to understand how social media influenced the process of revocation to the Mayor of Lima, Susana Villarán, and collaborated with the dissemination of the magnificent strategy of political communication that her team made, attaining to influence public opinion. The methodology used applies a qualitative approach is applied with descriptive scope, and it is considered a non-experimental and longitudinal design, since the information was collected from secondary sources covering the duration of the whole process of revocation. The results show that social media were fundamental for the Mayor to be able to maintain her position until the end of her term. Although the results obtained cannot be generalized, a conceptual model is proposed that emerges from the abstraction of the analyzed case in order to serve as a starting point for further studies on this topic.

In this research, we analyze the most powerful television shows in the time-shifted audience regarding their linear or live broadcast in Spain. We propose two hypotheses: the H1 affirms that the most consumed genres, according to time-shifted audience, are those related to fiction instead of current affairs shows, entertainment or live events; the H2 affirms that the fiction contents get the highest percentage of increase of their traditional audience after adding their time-shifted audience. Both hypotheses will be demonstrated through a methodology based on the analysis of the 10 most watched shows (between time-shifted audience) every day for 9 months and reaching a sample of 2,750 shows. Finally, we propose in this article the first classification of the most consumed television genres in Spain according to their time-shifted audience.

The following article shows how shellfishers women of the Galician coast perceive the mediatic representations of their work, on the basis of a reception study with a focus group. The research takes into account contributions from Feminist Economics, since the shellfish by foot is a highly feminized job, and from Cultural Studies, which take into consideration the particularities of media consumption of women. Results indicate that shellfishers have a critical discourse about the representations proposed by media, which tend to simplify their work.

Silvio Berlusconi’s irruption in the Italian political scene changed the political communication, ushering in a new stage marked by a new role of the media, the power of image, the politics as a spectacle and the manifestation of video-power. His model proved successful and appetizing to be emulated. And so it was: Donald Trump's election campaign showed obvious analogies with the Berlusconian model. Through the analysis of the political discourse of this two politicians and the literature published on the topic, it will revealed a new way of communicating, closer to the world of spectacle and entertainment. Berlusconi and Trump are deliberately transgressors; they adopt provocative and catchy slogans, they resort to offensive expressions. Two similar models and even so with some differences that make foreshadow a new way of communicating.
