This research represents the first approach to the history of podcasting in Spain through the description of its origin and the different evolutionary phases that it has maintained during its first forty years. Analysis of documentary sources and in-depth interviews with pioneers, users, podcasters and experts in digital communication were used in order to study the decisive technocentric and sociocentric factors for its development and current state, characterized by the presence of a robust community of listeners and creators, a complex ecosystem and the growing tendency towards the creation of transmedia narrative products that abandon the exclusively sound format of the beginning of this medium.

The free access to online information and the change in consumer preferences make us reconsider the future of the local press against the Internet and the large cross-media communication, information and entertainment corporations. The objective of this article, the research product of a Master's Degree in Administration, is to examine the bases of the value proposal of the newspaper La Crónica del Quindío, the most representative written communication medium of the department of Quindío-Colombia. The methodology used corresponds to a descriptive study, through a hypotheticodeductive process. The quality of digital journalism is currently at risk due to the extreme competence for attracting traffic from the social networks. Thus, it is becoming increasingly more frequent to include appealing headlines, which are sometimes not rigorous enough, as bait (clickbaiting). This fact could result in a distortion of reality and can contribute to a process of general misinformation. This research analyses, both quantitatively and qualitatively, and in an exploratory way, the appearance of the clickbaits in the Facebook fan page of Elpais.com in n=167 informative units. The study reveals the existence of some sort of clickbait in more than half of the sample -which, moreover, goes against the journal's policy-, especially that of the omissive kind, an item for which a new subcategorization has been established. In the same way, a significant lack of concordance has been detected between the information contained in some headlines and that included in the rest of the article.

This research focuses on the analysis of the prosumer in Political Communication in the environment of Social Media, a line of recent study that still lacks a journey and empirical works that address it in a scientific manner. The examination shows the growing tendency to mediatize the prosumer on the YouTube platform. The media are made with the domain of political messages in social networks, occupying a field originally intended for the use of the public sphere. Specifically, an analysis of the content of the videos that have the greatest number of visualizations about Procés Catalán is presented, that is, about the events carried out, during the month of October, by the independence bloc of the Government of Catalonia and which represent a turning point in Spanish politics.

The present research explores the geographical and gender diversity in the editorial boards of 40 journals indexed in the JCR (Journal Citation Report) ranking between quartile one (Q1) and quartile (Q2) in the category of communication during 2015. A cluster analysis is first designed to group the journals based on three factors: the nationality and gender of the editorial boards and the impact factor of the journal. Through a logistic regression the article explores the probability of inclusion of non-US researchers and women in editorial boards based on seven independent variables: the gender and nationality of the editor, the total number of editorial members of the journal, the impact factor, the affiliation of the journal to an academic association, the publishing house and its central theme. The study shows an association between the probability of inclusion of non-US researchers and all the predictor variables. In addition, the article reveals an association between the probability of inclusion of women and predictor variables such as the nationality of the editor, the publishing house and the central theme of the journal. It is concluded that geographic and gender standardization jeopardize the acquisition of global knowledge and challenge scientific plurality as a constitutive value of academic progress.

This investigation aims to analyze historical documentaries about Spanish Civil War. The research shows how History, in an audiovisual format thar appears more realistic and objective, is subject to concerns social issues about the society that produces, receives and assimilates the films. The importance of the present moment in Historical Documentary films becomes accentuated by the specifications and production requirements (specific images, easy-to-understand stories, to show current concerns…) This matter is particularly important in such a controversial subjet like Spanish Civil War.

The media offer content supported by graphic elements either to accompany the text as a decorative element, or to make it more understandable and/or to contextualize the information. This work proposes an updated definition of the journalistic infographic and establishes a typology according to its use, with the aim of clarifying as best as possible what graphic expressions can be considered journalistic infographics and when the infographic should be used to communicate the information. To corroborate and support the resulting definition and typology, there is a case study of the infographics published in the main newspapers of the Spanish general printed press: El País, 20 Minutos and El Mundo. All the cases analyzed meet each of the characteristics set forth in the definition. In addition, each infographic has been ordered in the classification confirming that the Spanish media use infographics mainly to compare and locate data.

The transition from paleoperiodism to post-journalism has been characterized by the bias in the analyzes, the epistemological partiality, the accommodation of the old tools to the new dimensions of the old objects and the new objects; faults and inconsistencies of theories not always consistent with empirical research; a profusion of tags and taxonomies by contrast to the absence of new concepts and theories. The long route of metadiscourse and concomitants, of constant loans and fractures, points to a new stage of journalism: the rediscovery of its essence, methodological riddle that implies turn around the epistemic coordinates already established through the discrete insertion in the epistemic field of other knowledge and the transparadigmatic reflection based on the beginning of journalism. This implies the need to recover critically some traditional perspectives, recontextualize them as appropriate and propose a new conceptual framework.

This research shows the importance of fototherapy as methodology of investigation in any particular case involving a domestic violence event.. Working actively through fotography and the different varietes offered by it, together with te follow up and the arttherapeutic frame, implies a link between the person involved and the arttherapist. This bond allows the possibility to generate a repairing dialogue through the images emerged in the different working sessions. In this research, the evolutive changes in the person treated was taken in acount as well as the overcoming, through fotography, of the most vunerables aspects that this person had to face at the time the work was being developed. All in all emotional and personal issues were repaired with highly positive evolved outcomes.

This research analyses the controversial story of “the tram girl” which divided the mass media and the audience in their way of focusing and perceiving it. The spaniard young boy's quest who is looking for a girl grabbed the most important media and arise varying responses from the society. Much of it understood this case like something very romantic, while the other saw it clearly a case of harassment. In order of understanding this media phenomenon, it is precised to analyse the components of the story, the mass-media focuses and the debate generated in social networks.
