Resumen
The operational management model of the Rural Water Supply Administration Board (JAAR) of the Ipetí Emberá communityin Panama, with the introduction of brine electrolysis as an innovative, easy and simple technology for disinfection of water for humanconsumption, requires of the addition of functions, operative and administrative positions for a sustainable operation. The model encourages thedissemination of local knowledge among peers from other communities that have rural aqueducts without processes for disinfecting water forhuman consumption and for new systems to be established in rural areas.

Resumen
In Panama most of the cassava (Manihot esculenta) is produced by small farmers in marginal soil, few fertile and with a lowtechnological level. In this work a comparison of pancakes formulated with wheat flour or cassava flour was made. The pancakes were subjectedto a physicochemical, textural and sensory analysis. The development product was prepared following an optimal way according to our sensorypatterns previously obtained by consumers. The development product was a physicochemical test of moisture, ash, fiber, carbohydrates, fat and protein. In addition, a texture profile analysis(TPA) was performed to measure variables such as strength, adhesiveness and cohesiveness of the pancakes. The substitution of 100% cassavaflour in pancakes reduced gumminess, hardness, chewiness and cohesiveness. Sensory analysis of the pancakes showed the same level of preferencefor the pancakes made with wheat flour and cassava flour, showing no differences (P < 0.05) in the attributes tested.

Resumen
This paper presents the development of a linear quadratic regulator for the navigational control of an underactuated and nonholonomicsystem: the unmanned hovercraft; a simplified model of the hovercraft derived from the general model for surface vehicles is used forthis end. This model considers three degrees of freedom for the hovercraft; two of them are completely actuated. A coefficient representing the dragforces perceived by the vehicle is added in the direction of the unactuated degree. It is found while verifying the controllability of the hovercraftthat the system is controllable as long as the angular velocity is not cero. Taking advantage that this model of the hovercraft is differentially flatwith respect to an inertial reference frame a circular trajectory is designed as the reference for the controller. After assuming that the angular velocityof the hovercraft is constant, these properties are used to design a controller that uses a single actuator to follow the reference trajectory. This paperproposes a control law that uses a linear quadratic regulator to determine its gains. The regulator is tuned by trial and error, starting from Bryson’sRule. This paper finishes with a series of simulations programmed on the software package MATLAB proving that, although the controller is notefficient, it follows the trajectory by means of a single actuation signal as expected.

Resumen
The purpose of this work is pre-design a subsonic open-circuit wind tunnel for the Technological University of Panama; forthe development of future researchs such as the design of small wind turbines and research on the dispersion of polluting emissions, among others. For them, it was necessary to carry out an extensive investigation of the existing models and their limitations of the various components that makeup a wind tunnel with this configuration, based on the existing guidelines to date and with the support of computational fluid dynamics. The use ofthe models and the support of these numerical methods allowed us to obtain a theoretically functional design that satisfies our initial requirements, propitious to develop a correlation for the design of the contraction, fostering new research paths in order to improve the performance of the fanaxial.

Resumen
The behavior of the adsorption isotherms is important since these guarantee the stability of the food products during the drying, packaging and storage processes. In this study, the carrot sorption isotherm was determined at a temperature of 22ºC ± 1 ° C applying the methodof static gravimetry method in a range of water activity (Aw) between 0.113 and 0.883. The data were adjusted using the GAB, BET and Hendersonmathematical models and the quality of the adjustment was evaluated with the regression coefficient (R2). An isotherm type II was obtained, whichis typical for fruits and vegetables. The humidity of the monolayer (Wo) was slightly lower in the BET model than in that of GAB, with values of0.102 and 0.125 g water / g of m.s, respectively, which agrees with the literature consulted. All models presented an adjustment higher than 0.92.However, those that best adjusted to the behavior of the experimental data were BET and GAB, which presented an R2 of 0.975 and 0.994,respectively.

Resumen
This article provides an overview of the analysis of electrical signals generated by the brain, when a person imagines themovement of their upper extremities. The signals studied are acquired with a brain-computer interface equipment and analyzed using DiscreteWavelet transform as the energy band decomposition technique. The use of this technique is new in the analysis of electrical signals generated bythe brain and the results obtained indicate that the use of the technique is feasible for the characterization of electrical signals coming from thebrain.

Buildings are responsible for 40% of global energy demand and CO2 emissions. In Argentina, buildings represent more than 40% of total annual energy consumption. Energy-saving strategies can cause thermal discomfort for building inhabitants. The aim of this research is to optimize daily set point temperatures based on occupancy profiles and changes in outdoor weather to find a balance between energy efficiency and thermal comfort in a public office building in San Juan, Argentina. The model takes into account the thermal adaptation capacity of the inhabitants considering outdoor temperature variation. The proposed method combines spot monitoring analysis, which introduces subjective occupancy data, with the Energy Plus building energy simulation tool. Optimization results show around 26% energy savings, while maintaining acceptable thermal comfort conditions.
