The purpose of this study was to analyze the level of social capital in two coffee organizations in the central area of Veracruz, Mexico to determine the extent to which the group activities implemented contribute to overcoming the crisis in this sector. A total of 41 questionnaires were applied to members and two semi-structured interviews were conducted with the organization leaders. Although social capital exists in both organizations, it does not appear to be at the same level. The organization in the Coatepec region has a low degree of social capital as a result of low levels of trust, reciprocity, cooperation and participation, reflected in weak cohesion as well as insubstantial networks and alliances. The organization in the Huatusco region has a high degree of social capital, expressed in greater levels of trust, solidarity, cooperation, participation and consolidated networks, which increase its capacity to implement collective activities for the benefit of its members. The concept of social capital is useful for understanding the role of coffee organizations in undertaking group activities. This paper concludes that a high level of the aspects comprising social capital is necessary but not enough to successfully tackle the coffee crisis.

Lescoses potser estan canviant i l'Olívia potser no perdrà capacitat imaginativa, ni l'atraparan les pors i els prejudicis. Així ho desitjo. Si em baso en gran part dels alumnes que ens arriben a la facultat, però, només puc enyorar aquells anys on tot era un joc. No va ser aquesta la raó per la qual vaig voler ser artista, però ara ho tinc clar, un dels avantatges de ser artista és poder jugar com un nen.

This paper offers an overview of the oeuvre of Dorothea Tanning (1910-2012) based on the iconography and hermeneutics of images relating to identity, trauma and violence. Tanning was not only a painter, but also a sculptor, writer, poet and outstanding chess player, who single-handedly pursued her artistic career through the best part of the twentieth century until her death. In addition, reference will be made to artists with links to Surrealism, such as Leonora Carrington, Dora Maar, Maya Deren and Louise Bourgeois, in order to frame the aspects discussed here in a wider context of female artists. Thus, Tanning will serve as a paradigmatic example of a sensitivity tending towards the mysterious, the occult and trauma in general.

Hemisferis Comparats és un projecte basat en la comparació d’imatges d’internet dels dos hemisferis, de l’hemisferi sud i del nord. Aquestes imatges han estat interpretades com a codis genètics, seguint el procediment de l’alineament de seqüencies, habitual en bio-informàtica. Els quatre libres CMYK que edita el Grup de Recerca BR::AC Barcelona, Research, Art, Creation, es van presentar al Paranimf de la Universitat de Barcelona amb l’execució de l’Acció sonora Cartridge Music (Cartutx de Música) de John Cage, que el 1960 iniciava l’anomenada música no-intel·lectual. Aquesta música amplifica el so dels objectes captat a través de micròfons de contacte i aconsegueix fer desaparèixer la divisió entre el plàstic i el sonor. Prendre consciència del gest, si, i del propi moviment dins l’entorn, d’acord; però això què ens aporta? Doncs, el que podríem anomenar una superfície d’aparició.

This paper describes the design of a program of activities of arts education for people with dementia based on visits to the Prado Museum and the Reina Sofia National Art Center Museum (Spanish anagram, MNCARS) of Madrid, and carried out by a team of researchers and artist-teachers. The program, called “Tenemos cita con el arte” (We have a date with art), in addition to the visits, included workshops of artistic activities. The basic aspects taken into account by the team of artist-teachers for the design of the itineraries in the two above-mentioned museums and the design of the artistic activities are specified. The museum itineraries, which included works of Velázquez and Goya (Prado Museum), and of Dalí, Juan Gris, Miró, Lipchitz, and Picasso (MNCARS) are described, as well as the artistic activities carried out by the participants, based on these itineraries. The considerations set out in this work can be extended to other are centers, so that they can be used as contexts for the promotion of the well-being and social inclusion of people with dementia by artist-teachers working in multidisciplinary teams.
