Resumen
In this article we ask ourselves to what extent the extreme specialization in the olive grove of the province of Jaén is capable of generating activity and sufficient income to guarantee the maintenance of the population in the long term. The applied methodology is descriptive and the purpose is to provide a holistic and prospective image of a complex reality. The results offer improvement strategies from a territorial development perspective.

Resumen
The situation that occurs within the framework of European demography is currently one of the most worrying aspects of the development of the European project, in terms of the consequences that a massive exodus of population from rural territories can have on the correct functioning of the Common Market. This expressed concern is not recent; since its creation, the European Union has advocated the protection of these disadvantaged territories and proof of this can be found in article 174 of the TFEU (Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union) and in the need that its wording establishes for the support of regions with special natural or demographic conditions and clear evidence of inferiority with respect to the rest of the areas.

Resumen
This article analyzes the bankability gap of investment projects with participation of the private sector that have a relevant impact on the Agendas for Sustainability and Development Financing. It reflects on the market failures that prevent the flow of private investment to developing countries towards “projects with impact". Arguments build on two parameters: i) the level of development and the institutional and regulatory soundness of the host countries, and ii) the technologies and business models necessary for the efficient operation of investment initiatives. Likewise, the article also argues that an important part of the bankability gap of private projects can be covered with public investments, by using blended finance structures as subsidiary to private investments.

Resumen
The year 2020 was marked by net migration dynamics in Spain that resulted in an increase in the rural population at the expense of the urban population, interrupting the secular trend towards greater urbanization prevailing since the middle of the last century. A regression analysis shows that the demographic dynamics during the rural exodus (1950-1990), the percentage of second homes and accessibility to services (both physical and digital) are explanatory factors when characterizing municipal-level population changes during the pandemic.

Resumen
This article analyzes the phenomenon of depopulation in Spain, delimiting its temporal and geographical dimension, as well as its links with the economic factors that largely determine it. The depopulated Spain is not, however, a uniform whole. The analysis carried out identifies three groups of provinces: an unpopulated Spain that is decreasing, an unpopulated Spain that is stagnating, and an unpopulated Spain that is rising. From this derives the need to design policies adapted to the reality of each situation.

Resumen
Three aspects of European societies are analysed in this article: the very low level of labour mobility within European Union (EU) Member States (MS), the high level of external immigration, and the disparate and sometimes extremely high rates of unemployment, especially in MS with an extremely low level of mobility and high levels of immigration. Intra-EU mobility is six times lower than in the US, and is mainly from Eastern MS. Non-EU immigration is higher than in the US, coming from the Southern Mediterranean, Latin America, the Middle East, Asia, and Africa, and is concentrated in the North Mediterranean EU MS. It is precisely the MS of this area of the euro zone that are receiving workers from several foreign countries, as well as from the EU, and this area has low employment rates, and high or very high unemployment rates.
