This article analyzes the aspects that constituted colonialism and the coloniality of power; knowledge and being, and how this model continues to operate in the hegemonic logic of development, where gender, race, and class have been established as the basis for the hierarchization and classification of people, a process in which the women from these colonized peoples have been the most subordinated. The Kaingang’s well-living, on the other hand, presents a different style. It is the Kaingang women from the Mangueirinha Indigenous land, in Paraná, who criticize the violence suffered due to development policies upon their territory, through their practices and narratives. This article is based on an ethnographic research conducted on them, between 2017 and 2021.

The year 2019 registered the largest social mobilization of the last thirty years in Chile. What factors led to the growth of electoral abstention and the increase in mobilizations around unsatisfied demands? We argue that the institutional framework caused and deepened the malaise. We identify those institutional arrangements and explain their mechanisms. Empirically, we first analyze participation/abstention levels and mobilization trends, associating them with the accumulation of discontent with the system. Second, we present the results of a survey taken at the epicenter of mobilizations at the end of 2019 to sustain that what led to the outbreak was not apathy but discontent. The poll suggests that the majority of the protesters had voted in previous elections and planned to do so in the future. By identifying the institutional roots of the outbreak, the work provides a rationale for the solution that was given to the conflict.

One of the main demographic transformations of modern societies is the lengthening of life and the greater number of older people, compared to younger generations, being women the ones who live longer. This article describes and analyzes the daily lives of centenarian women, which has been conducted under a qualitative and ethnographic design, in central and southern territories, in Chile, by using both, the biographical interview and the direct observation techniques. Results are presented as ethnographic tales about these women, from both urban and rural areas. Results show the axes of diversity and intersectionality, in the frame of gender, care, family structures, their homes and socio-territorial features. Strategies to adapt to such contexts are highlighted, as well as the possible shapes of autonomy and agency during old ages. The findings show that enquiring about the reasons that would explain why women live longer than men have not been enough, thus, it is absolutely necessary to consider the observation of their whole lives from their feminine identities, as well as their sociocultural contexts which have helped to extend their life expectancy.

Resumen
The Covid-19 pandemic, in Latin America, brings the opportunity for a reconceptualization of a set of social problems, in the light of debates over both, social solidarity policy and universal basic income. This article argues that the above statement forces to reconsider the central characteristics of the Nordic Enabling Welfare State, and its implications in Latin America, especially, in terms of human development and people’s capacities, delving in the relationship between these and the associated social contexts. The article proposes a robust conceptual framework to address this challenge from a sociocultural approach and the critical elaboration of Hegel's social theory, contributing to the intellectual revitalization of social democracy in Latin American debates.
