Tooth decay is a serious public health problem, and identifying risk factors to the disease in pregnant women is essential. The use of the Cariogram, could contribute to implementing preventive measures to improve women’s health during pregnancy. The purpose of this study was to determine the risk to dental caries in pregnant women. The Cariogram presents the results of the five risk factors of caries, and it was observed that the patients have a 42% of chance to avoid new carious lesions and 58% could present lesions, which could be caused by 40% related to diet and bacteria. Conclusion: To date, existing studies are not sufficient to ultimately identify main caries risk factors associated with dental decay in pregnant women.

The action of Climate Change on the planet has affected the world wheat production, the forecasts ensure that these changes and effects will be greater over time. Considering the importance of this cereal as a food of the basic diet of human beings, this work proposes a new form of crop evaluation that allows to forecast probable damage by phenological stage, through an Artificial Neural Network trained with historical data of global climatic behavior and phenological impact, a results system interprets the output and constitutes the user interface. The proposal was validated, showed its generalization capacity and reached high precision of 84%, so it is considered adequate.

The relationship between coping with extreme risks and symptoms of post-traumatic stress in children who experienced the earthquake in Mexico of 2017 was examined. One month after the event 178 children between 11 and 15 years of age (Mean = 12.90, SD= 1.05) from the municipality of Malinalco in the South of the State of Mexico were evaluated, with coping scales facing extreme risks and symptoms of the disorder of stress (PTSD). The results showed high scores in PTSD, especially in girls. The hypothesis of a relationship between both variables is confirmed. It is suggested to analyze the resilient ability with respect to the exposure to this type of natural disasters, and carry out follow-up studies.

CaCCs are proteins forming pores located in the cell membrane. The CaCCs allow exchange of ions through the membrane, which is key for an adequate cellular function and for the development of some diseases. The purpose of this work is to provide a review of the physio-pathological role of the CaCC. We reviewed literature from the US National Library of Medicine-PubMed.gov. Our results indicate that in spite of the fundamental role of CaCCs for developing chronic diseases, in our country little research and dissemination is done in the field.

The objective of this paper is to analyze the relationship between the environmental commitment and the environmental and firm performance of three-star, four-star and five-star hotels of selected entities in Mexico. This research is quantitative, transversal and exploratory. A survey was applied to 55 hotels as a technique of data collection. To prove this hypotheses, Pearson´s bivariate co-relations were used. The results show that the environmental commitment is positively related to the environmental performance, and firm performance.

The aim of this study was to determine which anthropometric indicators and to what extent are significantly related to the atherogenic index (AI) considering lifestyles (physical inactivity, average calorie consumption/day and smoking), age and sex in an adult population, apparently healthy, attached to a public health hospital in Mexico. Method: Cross-sectional observational study. Sample for convenience: N = 206 (148 women and 58 men). Statistical analysis: Correlational and binary logistic regression using SPSS 19. Results and conclusions: A significant relationship was found between the increase of all anthropometric indicators and the elevation of the AI, regardless of age. The waist/height and waist/hip indicators showed greater weight in this ratio in both sexes.

Proteins are the molecular tools of life and men have sought ways to adapt them to meet their needs. The aim of this text is to present the scientific grounds about proteins such as their structural levels, folding, catalytic activity of enzymes, and limitations of their applications due to their nature. The conceptual and methodological bases of protein engineering are illustrated, in a simplified manner, including the scope and future perspectives towards the advance of science and innovation of processes. It is concluded that protein engineering is a field which continues to implement computational and genetic-proteomic engineering tools, through which new proteins can be generated to expand their applications in different processes.

At present, domestic and farming activities take place along its margins of the Ciénega de Tláhuac and affect the water through runoff. In view of this, the study evaluated the water quality and compared it to data which was published 20 years ago. The results showed a high conductivity due to surrounding farming runoff rich in fertilizers, hard water with a high sulfate content, an alkaline pH, an oxygen content that varied from anoxia or hypoxia to oversaturation, a hypereutrophication due to high levels of total nitrogen and phosphorus, and contamination due to fecal coliform bacteria. These data are higher than those of 20 years ago and indicate a bad water quality, particularly hypereutrophic.

The investigation was carried out in the municipality of Zinacantepec, State of Mexico, through an exploratory, descriptive, non-experimental study, which objective is to know the current situation of the level of mechanization of the tractors and agricultural machines that agricultural producers have, to identify technical indexes, in order to optimize them for the sake of efficient productivity.  The average age of tractors is 7.73 years old, its concentration is located at 77.38% in areas smaller than 10 ha; which indicates underutilization, joined with an inadequate maintenance program; which leads to premature tractor danger.
