The fragmentation that characterizes the current urban structure of the city of Valdivia has affected the accessibility and legibility of its natural structuring element: its hydrographic network. Deficiencies in urban planning have in turn brought environmental degradation and exclusion of public uses associated with these riverfronts. The protection of the ecological value of rivers and their banks, as well as the provision of quality public spaces, are objectives of sustainable urban development. Faced with this challenge, an assessment of fluvial public spaces is proposed, which covers morphological, social and ecological aspects of urban design, with the aim of contributing to the design and planning of these places from the perspective of sustainability. This article focuses on the discussion and evaluation of the concepts of physical accessibility and legibility in ten case studies located on the banks of the Calle-Calle and Cruces rivers.

In the 19th century, the Botocudos, a group of Brazilian natives, were the target of the continuous contact with Portuguese-Brazilian colonizers interested in the colonization of the Rio Doce (Doce River) region, with actions that ranged from violent attacks to the attempts of pacification and settlement, from Brazilian Independence. In this article, we analyze a set of documents formed by military and native’s directors correspondences written during the dacades of 1820-1830 in Espírito Santo, that documents reveal the impetuous indigenous resistance, not just in a offensive way, but using the resources offered by the colonizers and undertaking a constant transit among the space of the “sertão” (the forests) to the colonizing enclaves formed by barracks, villages and settlements. This analysis allowed us to identify the different Botocudos groups and their self-denominations, their internal rivalries, the domain of the territory and the indigenous awareness of the colonization in the process.

The political rupture between Brazil and Portugal was driven not only by events in Rio de Janeiro - seat of the Dom Pedro regency - and in the Lisbon Courts, but also due to different regional circumstances in Portuguese America. In the case of Espírito Santo, the commercial relations of the dealers in this province with ports in Bahia and Rio de Janeiro, since the beginning of the 19th century, were of great importance for local authorities, linked to this interprovincial trade, to decide politically between joining the Cortes or the regency of Dom Pedro, in 1822.

Abstract   Introduction.  Human papillomavirus 13 (HPV-13) belonging to Alphapapillomavirus-10 species, is an oral mucosotropic virus phylogenetically related to others human papillomavirus (6, 11, 44, 55 and 74). It causes Multifocal Epithelial Hyperplasia, an uncommon benign oral disease reported mainly amongst ethnic groups from America.Objective. To describe the genetic variability of the HPV-13 L1 gene.Material and Methods. A retrospective study including 50 oral samples from patients with Multifocal Epithelial Hyperplasia, and 25 samples from asymptomatic carriers of HPV-13, all subjects living in Mayan area of Mexico. A fragment 240 bp corresponding to the HPV 13L1 gene, which encodes the major capsid protein was amplified, sequenced, and compared with the only two reference sequence of HPV-13 available.  A phylogenetic tree was constructed using PAUP* software.Results. Eight single nucleotide polymorphisms were identified including three synonymous polymorphism and five non-synonymous. According to the phylogenetic tree, the variants were grouped in two branches. Conclusion: This is the first study of the genetic variability of HPV-13.  A dominant polymorphism shared by patients and asymptomatic carriers was identified.

Problem: Transgender people and travestis constitute an extremely vulnerable population in several social spheres, including the institutional one. In health, this process is no different, with numerous barriers to the health demands of this population. This lack of care contradicts the current legislation, the very foundation of the Brazilian public health system (Sistema Único de Saúde — SUS), and even health care policies for the LGBTQIA+ population. The expansion and strengthening of this population's care network move toward historical reparation and reducing inequities, which are systematically violated in our current social structure. This work aims to report the experience of creating the Gender Identity Outpatient Clinic (Ambulatório de Identidade de Gênero — AMIG) of Conceição Hospital Group (Grupo Hospitalar Conceição), a comprehensive and depathologizing service for trans and travesti health care in the primary health care context of SUS. Methods: This is a qualitative descriptive study. We performed documentary research on minutes and materials produced during the implementation, as well as observations made by the researchers, such as field journals, resulting from their participation in this process. Data were analyzed through content analysis to synthesize and process the information collected. Results: Specific services for the trans and travesti population are necessary because they work to remedy historical inequities experienced by this population. The design and operationalization of this service allowed us to revisit stages of a complex and not always linear process, with challenges including transphobia. Conclusions: Strengthening the service itself and the health care network for this population will require continuing education for professionals, as well as incentives from the institutions involved in this process. The formalization of the project, the increasing participation of the population and social movements, and the promotion of educational and training actions are perspectives to be considered in the next steps of this journey.

Introduction: Pregnancy losses are common events in reproductive life. In view of the individual and professional difficulty of dealing with the mental suffering that they cause, we question the choice of technique, the regularity and the way of carrying out approaches that would be better suited to cope with this situation. Therefore, this clinical review aimed to assess the recent literature and seek the best scientific evidence about the psychosocial approach to these losses. Methods: Keywords determined by MeSH were used to select study titles in the databases PUBMED, ACCESSSS, BMJ, DYNAMED, EBM and LILACS. The inclusion criteria were: year of publication between 2010-2020; study type (meta-analysis, systematic review, randomized clinical trial, non-randomized clinical trial and cohort or control case); induced abortion not addressed; written in English, Portuguese or Spanish; and found in full text. Results: Twenty-eight articles were found and their abstracts were evaluated, where 14 were excluded and 14 were read in full. In the end, 9 studies were included in this review. It was observed that psychological symptoms are frequently presented after pregnancy losses, that there are several ways to access these data and that there is no consensus on the best intervention. In addition, in men and homosexual couples, there is a greater chance of making suffering invisible and a lesser mourning approach by health professionals. Conclusion: In the absence of consensus on which interventions have the best results, it is recommended to screen for mental suffering and share the decision with the parties involved.

Introduction: This is an experience report about the idealization and implementation phase of the Manto Project of Palliative Care Assistance, developed in a primary care facility at Caruaru (Pernambuco, Brazil). Methods: Manto Project had a continuing education strategy for the multidisciplinary team and a comprehensive assistance to the health of palliative care patients and their families. Results: The project impacted the reality of work and the care of more than one family health team; it promoted and reinforced care unit/family bonds with team and consolidated itself as a good practice and successful experience in primary health care and Sistema Único de Saúde. Conclusions: The Manto Project experience challenges the reality of Brazil’s northeastern interior in the context of economic crisis, weaknesses in health care professional team training and continuing education of health care workers.
