Considering the objections that in the seventies led Michel Foucault to take distance of revolution as a paradigm of all forms of resistance, this paper explores the “return of revolution” as a positive figure in his last lectures. Taking the project of studying the revolutionary subjectivity that the professor formulated but left undeveloped, we reconstruct the mentions of the topic in his courses between 1980 and 1984, and we clarify as a result the consideration of revolution as an ascetic figure. Recovering Foucault´s interpretation of Cynicism as the matrix of the activist life, we suggest to understand it as the elaboration of a materialist ethics, which explains revolution as an askesis and finds its realization in present experiences.

This paper, based on an interpretation of the Greek myth of Eros and Psyche, explores the feeling of love focusing on the notions of gaze and alterity. The core thesis is that erotic passion emerges primarily through the sense of sight: the gaze is directed towards the loved one and comes together with an impulse of union that is described as a desire for alterity.

The article presents the first findings from a study aiming to comparatively analyze the forced immobility processes that take place at Tijuana, BajaCalifornia, and Tapachula, Chiapas, in México. The reflections deriving from this first stage, are based on interviews to institutes and organizations that work directly with the migration phenomenon in both cities. We show an overview on permanence and mobility trends on these mentioned destinations, examining causes and implications that prolonged permanence of transit, deported, and displaced population, and asylum seekers, in places that were not their desired destination. Finally, we present the main challenges and problems that organizations encounter, while attending people facing this situation.

This article displays some thoughts related to my ongoing research on the construction of gender subjectivities in urban religious spaces in Guatemala City. My analysis is based upon the fieldwork I conducted in 2017 during the Holy Week festivities and the follow-up interviews in the aftermath of the Holy Week and beyond. In what follows, I will analyze on one hand, the ways gender shapes and is shaped by processions, understood as a space of subjectivation, where multiple actors share a common space. On the other hand, getting to know the diversity of everyday experiences as well as individual and collective pathways, allowed me to explore how these actors, as gendered subjects, represent, produce, transgress and get to experience normative gendered borders.

We will observe a series of phenomena related to the coordination between the public entities that should be responsible for the patrimony, and the valuation and use made of them by these agents and the citizens in general. The historic centers are the reason for tourists visiting communities, activity that generates revenue which then stimulates the local economy. The impulse of tourism based on the value of culture, raises the need to establish comprehensive management mechanisms. We will outline some schemes for a paradigm shift in the current segmented management of archaeological heritage, and move from a centralized management to a transversal management that overcomes obstacles of participation and that is shared by the different agents and actors, through public policies involving authorities and academia, generating synergies to boost the processes of local and regional appropriation.
