This article analyzes an in-depth interview with restoration architect Martin Fabbri, carried out in 2017. It shows the expressions of restoration architecture, and the actions executed in it, while contrasting the discipline with some of the international charters and documents on the subject, in order to understand how this scholar combines theory and experience to achieve adequate and sustainable heritage conservation and restoration interventions according to current international standards and Peruvian reality. To achieve this, the article mentions national and international examples that show the influence of prominent thinkers, and international treaties and charters, in the protection and management of monuments. The archaeological sites located inside the campus of the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP) are part of an extensive pre-Hispanic complex that, unlike other sites that existed in Metropolitan Lima, managed to be partially conserved. It occurred mainly due to the work of people committed to heritage such as Dr. Josefina Ramos de Cox and other members of the Archeology Seminary of the university. The initial management actions taken towards this piece of heritage, consisting of Huaca 20, Huaca 64 and the Inca Trail, were related to defense, protection and research. On the other hand, recent actions have been associated to the rescue and enhancement of the monuments, tasks that have been carried out thanks to political will institutional commitment. The following article aims to present the experience of the management of the university’s archaeological heritage, which will be considered on the basis of normative frameworks, values and functions. Likewise, it evaluates achievements linked to the exercise of the above-mentioned commitments, and proposes challenges related to the integration of archaeological heritage to the daily life of the PUCP community.

The present study consists of revaluing the historical and architectural importance of the Welsch House, a shop of German origin, dedicated to the sale of jewelry and watches in Lima in the mid-nineteenth century. Through the compilation of unpublished images and information, one will be able to learn more about its transformation from the time of its construction to the restoration project that was carried out in 2012. One of its best features is the famous front clock that for many years fronted the property and provided the official time to all people who passed through Jirón de la Union, the street where it was located; it was removed from original location at the end of the last century. For this reason, the study highlights its historical value, so that it may be recognized and assimilated by society. As well, the purpose of this work is to contribute to the diffusion of this monument as a part of the Historic Center of Lima.

Valdivia City suffered a transformation after its refoundation in 1647 as a walled city. During the XVII and the XVIII century a process of consecutive improvement for the walls or fences was pursuit. All this was a product of the climatic and geographic situations, as well as military engineering requirements. In this process two Turrets were built by the same quarter of the XVIII. Its origin was justified by the need of strengthening two points considered as strategic and vulnerable in the city. Moreover, population protection was not the only purpose, but also to consolidate the progress to other zones, which by that time were under mapuche-huilliche domain. During the second decade of the XX, both turrets were declared as Historical Monument. These are two postcards which identify the city, but they lack the meaning and sense by which they were built.
