Drawing on Lewin’s topological psychology as well as on Köhler’s insight learning theory the article deals with "Monkey Island". The short poetic prose presents a study on conflicting group dynamics in a small artificial island in Villa  Borghese, inhabited by monkeys and apes. The article analyses inter-, intragroup behaviour and compares it with Bion’s basic assumptions as a result of including a protomental system besides Lewin’s organisational development. Along with the  experimental setting "Monkey Island" also represents individuality as conflicting with group functioning so that the persecutor’s isolation is investigated as expression of individual creativity. His gaze sweeping over Rome after killing  one of the helpless simians of the ditch can be connected with Musil’s experiences as a child, whose family idyll was interrupted by the presence of a stranger disputing his mother’s affection. Alongside the holistic perspective of Gestalt  Musil's family experience gave him insight into the extent to which mind is inter-mind, self is inter-self. The translation of evidence-based theories into practice, now included in current research in embodied cognition, provided greatest opportunities for Musil becoming a writer. His literature is anthropogenetic inasmuch as it allows the reader to gain insight into human nature. The uniqueness of his oeuvre results in a persistent intertwining of ethics and aesthetics  representing interaction between the individual and the environment in constant pursuit of coexistence.

The article sets out to analyse Christoph Ransmayr’s latest novel Cox oder Der Lauf der Zeit (2016) in the light of recent criticism. The complex relationship between 18th-century cosmopolitanism and its fictional adaptation features prominently in the novel. Our focus is upon the making of characters’ identities, the literary and visual techniques of narration (especially intertextual allusions and ekphrasis), and the coalescence of time, decay and desire as displayed in the novel.

The presence of underused spaces within urban areas, associated with the need to promote the transformation of such situations to respond to the different needs of communities, has led to the emergence of numerous experiences of depaving. These initiatives, promoted by institutions and groups of citizens, have acted with the aim of: countering the physical degradation of areas located in residential contexts; responding to the needs of communities for a new endowment of collective spaces and protection of places; promoting the principles of sustainability through the creation and management of renaturalized spaces; restoring the permeability of soils to contain the phenomena of flooding of urban areas by applying the principles of sustainable urban drainage. The contribution, after a brief approach to some key issues, will deal with international cases recognizing some conditions that have characterized these experiences. In particular, it is interesting to highlight their ability to translate de-sealing into concrete action, compared to some results consciously sought by the promoters.

Quantum physics, risen from experimental evidences, shows us a new conception of Nature. Nature seems in some way weird. However, experiments point out singularities, irreducible contradictions, unpredictable events, which cannot be explained by means of universal, causal, deterministic laws for microscopic phenomena. Niels Bohr had deep knowledge of Kierkegaard's existentialism and he considered it as the key to understand Nature.

The defeat of the twentieth century revolutionary movements leaves a gigantic void. The space of hope can be taken up again by the renewal of the utopian dimension. Utopia must be conceived as a criterion of meaning, as an indication of direction and not as a social model to be realized. Recognizing Marx’s brilliant diagnostic skills but criticizing his erroneous prognosis and his ruinous therapies, we must draw from the critique of the category of fetishism the implications that allow us to understand why global capitalism does not generate a subject capable of becoming aware of its possible overcoming. The very category of politics, as a projection of evil on the adversary, has become useless if one must imagine the current condition of interdependence as capable of evolving towards a pact of balance and peace among peoples, classes, genders, with an eco-friendly use of natural resources. Utopia can be built over a very long period, transforming the level of awareness to experiment projects of evolutionary coexistence.

Passages is a book about journeys: mythic, realistic journeys that bring people from one place to another, from one universe to another one. In this sense, all the characters are immigrants and/or exiles, moving through three different places: a Caribbean island (Haiti), Miami and Montreal. The aim of this essay is to introduce a non-specialist reader to the main themes of Ollivier’s novel which stands on migration, identity and home.

The essay aims to explore the thought and work of Wilhelm von Humboldt (1767-1835) referring to the concept of utopia. Humboldt is known for his studies on Language, Philosophy, Aesthetics and Political Philosophy, but he is not considered a utopian thinker. Through the analysis of his mains works and his main ideas (language as organism, unity and diversity etc.) the essay tries to demonstrate that his work can be read as utopian. In his work utopia is not be considered as the project of a future better world, but as paradigm of knowledge (Denkform), intentional concept that pushes the man to educate himself and to work on the present.

This contribution deals with Kiezdeutsch, a form of youth slang spoken in multilingual and multi-ethnic urban settings in Germany. Based on three works by German scholars published in the past few years the linguistic features of Kiezdeutsch are described and the issues of its sociolinguistic status and of its origin are discussed. Then, the role played by Kiezdeutsch in present day German society is scrutinized relying on the dichotomy ‘community vs. migrancy’.

This essay explores the way two languages typically considered “less-common”can be connected through creative composition, translation and interpretation. Working together in a course on Great Lakes History at the University ofWisconsin-Milwaukee, three co-authors confront the problem of creating culturallyinformed translations of two indigenous texts. One author is the professor of thecourse and an Anishinaabe poet sharing her own work with students. One author is awriter and sign-language interpreter. One author is a long-distance Anishinaabecultural consultant. In the class, students learn to read and recite two texts originallycomposed in Anishinaabemowin and translated into English. With Deaf studentsenrolled in the course, an additional translation into American Sign Language (ASL) isneeded. An ASL interpretation of each text based only on the English translation isuseful, but does not contain the full meaning of the Anishinaabemowin original.Together the team created an ASL version which reflects more detail and culturalnuances. The primary aim of this essay is to demonstrate a method for reducingaudism by using inter-cultural methodologies to produce more accurate translationsand decolonial and deaf-centric interpretations. A secondary aim of the essay is tocompare and contrast Anishinaabemowin and ASL leading to the suggestion thatmore work should be done to directly connect indigenous and sign languages.
