Resumen
In the XIX century, the city of Ribeirão Preto, in the São Paulo state, southeast region of Brazil, centered wealth from the coffee plantations, being scenery for architectures as interesting as those from other important cities in the inner state of São Paulo. Nowadays, few are the remaining mansions and ‘palacetes’ in downtown rightlyconserved. The preservation of these architectures receive eventual media focus, in an effort of bringing awareness to the city’s population about it’s importance. When we focus on the preservation of the modern residential architecture production, in the beginning of the second half of the XX century, spanning the 1950’s, 1960s and 1970’s, Ribeirão Preto’s architecture does not receive the same attention, and is not properly studied yet. This article, the reflection of an on going masters research, is supported by a preservation questioning, through documentation, interviews with architects and dwellers, and photographs. The analyzed houses are authored by the prime professional architects headquartered in the city, in neighborhoods, at the beginning, strictly residential. When these dwellings begin to be demolished, it is up to the research and the registers of the representations, supported by the social network Arquigrafia, to guarantee that this legacy can be preserved.

Resumen
On 7 April 2016, Edifício Caiçara, a beachfront property in the city of Recife, in the Brazilian State of Pernambuco, was demolished, bringing to a close a process that began in 2011, when members of civil society attempted, principally through social networks, to ensure its preservation as cultural heritage. Constructed in 1940, the building became from the outset a point of reference for those living in the Boa Viagem neighborhood, with its controversial architecture reflecting the characteristic way of living of residents and beach home owners at the time. In view of the controversy and the outcome of the discussions regarding preservation of the building, which culminated in its demolition, the present article outlines a number of aspects of Recife’s current built heritage preservation code, and discusses the case of Edifício Caiçara in the light of the Recommendation on Historic Urban Landscapes (UNESCO, 2011), of the Sofia Declaration (ICOMOS, 1996) and concepts relating to Cultural Identity (Hall, 2006). The approaches referenced, which relate to aspects of the controversy surrounding the attempt to preserve Edifício Caiçara, suggest that the concepts underlying the preservation of the built cultural heritage of the city of Recife are out of step with current norms.

Resumen
The identification inventories contribute to data collection and information gathering of protected cultural property (or to be protected). The aim of this article is to discuss the concept of place and heritage from knowledge about a fisher’s village not safeguarded by the National Institute of Historical and Artistic Heritage at Mato Grosso do Sul, seeking to understand whether it has any relevance for some patrimonialization process, or if it mnemonics senses and identity are owned only for the people who work there and live. To achieve this goal, we analyzed two authors diferent perspective (concept?) of place, first as an anthropological experience of association values, then as a set of events that relate to intangible form on it, and finally, from an appropriation of space idea as everyday experience.

This article is the result of recent research on the Penha neighborhood, between the years 2015 and 2016, with the purpose to understand the relationship between its transformations and urban continuities. This neighborhood, located at São Paulo’s east region, comprises the center of Penha itself and its surroundings and presents a recognized historical significance, which manifests through the presence of urban constitutive elements of its identity that have remained over time. Despite its permanence, the neighborhood remains subject to significant changes due to transformations occurring there and urban legislation recently approved, which provides forth its densification. Since the resumption of the concept of urban environmental heritage, research has built tools related to new information technologies in order to identify the representations relating to social memory and to the perception of changing processes in Penha. Therefore, we intend to be able to establish new procedures to understand the neighbor-hood social representations.
