The architect role is to ensure spaces designed to every person. However, both public and private spaces present access difficulties. This lack of accessibility during the architectural design process leads to non-inclusive spaces. The aim of this study was to develop hypotheses about the perception of professional architects regarding accessibility and ergonomics concepts related to the application of the Norma Brasileira 9050. Through the qualitative approach, the design of this study aimed to investigate a new way of understanding the empirical event. The interview technique with semi-structured script was applied to 15 professionals who work in the design of architectural, residential or commercial projects. The results reveal issues related to technical items of the standard, as well as difficulties encountered in its application, which address aspects referring to users and the professional himself.

This article aims to promote the understanding of a concept that has been commonly used in both theoretical and propositional approaches of urban studies: the vertical city. The terminology is used in different research fields with various connotations, which indicates that “vertical city” may not have a fully established conceptualization. In this sense, a broad understanding of its meaning is necessary, as well as the revealing of its historic in urban theory. This article presents the ideals and pioneering projects that subsidized the formulation of the vertical city concept, with data extracted from a bibliographic review process. The primary results emphasized the importance of the concept sedimentation in the period between the beginning of the 20th century and the 1930s, in which most of the theories and projects of vertical cities are related to the progressive urbanism ideals. Among them, the work of Le Corbusier and Hilberseimer, complementarily, helps understanding the presuppositions that conform the vertical city concept in its genesis.

There must be a relationship between what is taught in schools of architecture and urbanism and professional practice, even because the curricular guidelines determine the knowledge and skills that professionals of architecture and urbanism must possess. However, the professional market is being affected by the implementation of a complex work platform, BIM, which exposes the weaknesses of the current education system. In this article, we analyze the definitions and meanings of BIM in the light of the legislation on the teaching of architecture and urbanism found in the current legislation and in the very viability that Higher Education Institutions give to the so-called applied informatics disciplines, where BIM traditionally intends to be taught. The study that we present, part of the conceptual discussion about the terminology used to define what is BIM and of the analysis and appreciation of the legal proposals that support the teaching of informatics in the architecture schools. The objective of this work is to consider whether it will be possible to teach BIM.

The article presents and discusses premises, processes and results of the workshop ‘’Offerings - Game-performance” organized in 2015 as part of the experimental format of the III International Seminar “Representar”, structured by remote and multicentric activities. The workshop faces the pervasiveness of global positioning systems (GPS) and geographic information systems (GIS) in the contemporary context, developing behavioral aesthetic works in order to update the concept of “drift” (Situacionist International) and to discuss some modes of urban perception that can be activated through the (mis)use of mobile interfaces and geolocation devices and the practice of artistic interventions in the city.

Vegetation can be considered as a significant indicator of environmental quality in cities, since it mitigates the adverse consequences of urbanization and has the potential to provide favorable environmental conditions and quality of life. Several certifications that aim measuring sustainability in the urban environment present different methods and evaluation measures for the criteria listed by it as relevant. Therefore, the objective of the present research is to analyze the vegetation as an environmental quality criterion along with widely adopted evaluation methods, in order to provide a comparative table regarding the relevance invested to the vegetation in the certifications of sustainability. To this end, it analyzes the certifications BREEAM, LEED e AQUA, in the categories referring to sustainable neighborhoods and new buildings, presenting from the importance invested in vegetation the proposals of suitable applications for it for each type of evaluation. The results show that vegetation, although – for paradox - is little mentioned along with certifications, it is a fundamental parameter for environmental sustainability in cities.
