This paper aims to analyze the mythical character Paris Alexander in four Pindar’s poems: Pythian 6, Fr. 120 (encomium), Paean 6 and Paean 8a.For that, I will compare the mythical narratives presented in these melic songs, as well their poetic language, with other sources, especially Homer. In this way, it hopes to find possible traditional traces and/or innovation, which will permit pondering about the pindaric Paris characterization and its different facets, and how it relates with the overall objectives of the song.

In a warlike scenario like that of the Iliad, mainly associated with the male sphere and the search for a desired individual excellence, which earns the consideration of others, what presence, what role, what space do women have? This contribution seeks to discern the interference(s) of the feminine in this military and heroic world, showing how the effects of war extend far beyond the strategies taken in battlefield, with more or less visible wounds, in a reality that is also very current.

Digital Humanities, like the textual approach proposed by New Philology, have brought profound changes to how research in Humanities isconducted today and have enabled the conception of ambitious projects that require multidisciplinary and international teams. Thus, after reflecting on the genesis and scope of Digital Humanities and New Philology, we will present a selection of national and international research projects that exemplify the practical application of these fields to Linguistic and Literary Studies and History, highlighting their contribution to the preservation, analysis, and deeper understanding of various corpora. Particular emphasis will be given to projects that demonstrate the innovative and fruitful applicability of Digital Humanities and New Philology to the study of epistolary corpora (with special focus on medical letters and consilia), as they provide a detailed and comprehensive knowledge of the content of the texts that integrate them, elucidating crucial aspects such as the identity of the correspondents, the nature of the bonds that united them, or the socio-political and cultural context in which they moved. Finally, considering the advances made in this field of study, the conception of a new research project will be presented, centred on an unpublished set of epistolae medicinales and consilia by Jorge Godines, a 16th-century Portuguese physician.

Obs. For reasons of coherence, it is reproduced, almost ipsis uerbis, the abstract of first article, under the same title. It is almost impossible that to 8th century imperial China would come echoes, albeit diffuse, of Latin literature of eight centuries earlier. Eventual similarities between authors of both literatures shall therefore be considered as coincidences. Even like that, however, the fact is still interesting. This is what happens in what concerns some similarities between the work of Du Fu, a Chinese poet from the 8th century, and Horace, Roman poet of the 1rst century BC: the celebration of the seasons, especially autumn and spring, the praise of moderation, in the style of aurea mediocritas, the paintings of nature, the detachment of material goods, all this brings together these two poets from such different cultures and from such different historical times. The present article intends to reflect on this thematic proximity, using the steps of the two poets, even if these are coincidences; an approach that is not usual in the study of both literatures. After analyzing, in the first part of this study, published before, the presence of the subject of aurea mediocritas, moderation, the detachment of material goods, this second part will study the proximity between both poets in what concerns another thematic area: the seasons and their relationship with human life.

It is, to say the least, unlikely that in 8th century imperial China there were echoes, albeit diffuse, of Latin literature of eight centuries earlier.Eventual similarities between authors of both literatures shall therefore be considered as coincidences. The Interpretation of Cultural Heritage, especially with the storytelling, is increasing its importance within the field of Tourism. Here, the travel sources come into play as an element that shapes the cultural context of the destination and/or its resources through the message they transmit about them. Thus, this study aims to demonstrate that these sources, specifically Pausanias, and travel accounts of the 18th and 19th centuries, have an influence on the Athenian tourist signage and its message. A theoretical model of storytelling has been deduced with the incorporation of travelers.

The article proposes some modifications and improvements to the system of representation of syntactic relations in Ancient Greek presented in 1985 by Carlos Schrader. The aim is to incorporate, as far as possible, the most remarkable results achieved in the last decades by functionalist grammar (proposition and enunciation level, together with that of predication) and also by cognitive grammar, applied especially to some of the most remarkable features of Thucydides’ prose.

The article is about the Latin poem Dirae written by the humanist Pedro Ruiz de Moros in the context of the Lutheran Reformation. In particular, it analyzes the influence of Ovid’s Ibis and the twofold strategy used in defense of the papacy: the ‘give and take’ and the use of various episodes in Luther’s life.
