El contexto de la narrativa estadounidense hacia fines del siglo XX se mantiene mediante el impulso dedécadas anteriores. La etapa posmoderna, pareciera extinguirse afectada por el mismo fenómeno que lehabía dado vida. Es así que, en el campo intelectual, se registran una serie de reflexiones críticas ymetaliterarias que pueden leerse hoy en día como verdaderos manifiestos y testimonios que funcionan comouna bisagra en la narrativa del periodo. David Foster Wallace, es sin lugar a dudas, el autor que anticipa estanueva etapa, y quien diseña los rasgos de la nueva subjetividad que caracterizará a los jóvenes escritores delperiodo. AMERICAN NARRATIVE IN LATE 20TH CENTURYAbstractThe context of the American narrative towards the end of the 20th century is maintained by the impulse ofprevious decades. The postmodern stage seems to be in a process of extinction, affected by the samephenomenon that had given it life. Thus, in the intellectual field, a series of critical and metaliterary reflectionscan be read today as true manifestos and testimonies that function as a hinge in the narrative of the period.David Foster Wallace is, without a doubt, the author who anticipates this new stage, and who designs thefeatures of a new subjectivity that will characterize the young writers of the period.Key words: american literature - late 20th century - new subjectivities

Los años 90 fueron particularmente prolíficos, no sólo en materia cinematográfica, sino también en losaspectos tecnológicos, de tal manera que modificaron sustancialmente las formas de distribución y deconsumo de las películas. Abordaremos esta década tomando tres ejes temáticos: la construcción de larealidad; la conspiración y creación del miedo; las cuestiones de género y las convenciones sociales. Este trabajo explora dos novelas del autor estadounidense John Irving: El Mundo Según Garp (1976) y ElHotel New Hampshire (1981) y pone la lupa en la construcción que en estos textos se hace de la ciudadaustriaca de Viena. Irving da su visión sobre la función del arte en general y la literatura en la primera y uncontra discurso sobre la sexualidad humana en la THE WORLD ACCORDING TO IRVING AFTER VIENNAAbstractThis work explores two novels by American author John Irving, The World According to Garp (1976) and TheHotel New Hampshire (1981) and focuses on the construction of the Austrian city of Vienna that these textsreproduce. Irving provides his views on the function of art in general and literature in the first novel and acounter discourse on human sexuality in the second. Ante el alza de la demanda internacional de minerales y los requerimientos nacionales de materialesestratégicos, los gobiernos de países latinoamericanos ratifican a la minería como una de las actividadesproductivas con alto potencial sobre todo en materia de inversiones extranjeras para su explotación. Sinembargo, de manera concomitante en el Cono Sur y el Caribe, las tensiones y conflictos en torno al modeloextractivista son evidentes a partir de las resistencias populares al desarrollo de diversos proyectos mineros.Esta problemática cuenta con múltiples antecedentes en Argentina y evidencian las contradiccionesexistentes en los modelos de desarrollo que impulsan los gobiernos y empresas en relación a lasexpectativas sociales.Gran parte de las resistencias ciudadanas a esta actividad, provienen de la defensa al recurso hídrico (entreotros bienes comunes), entendiendo que la promoción de la minería requiere de cuantiosas proporciones deeste recurso vital. A su vez, manifiestan la desconfianza ante la debilidad en las políticas de control por partede las autoridades competentes.La propuesta de este artículo es analizar aspectos de los conflictos socioambientales a la luz del caso de laresistencia al uranio en la ciudad de La Rioja, donde se manifiestan tensiones sociales ante los avances dela Comisión Nacional de Energía Atómica (CNEA), para la realización de estudios de prospección en laQuebrada de Alipán (área localizada a 20 km de la ciudad riojana). Este asunto lleva años de idas y vueltas,movilización social, decisiones políticas y hasta la judicialización del caso, a partir de lo cual se problematizala continuidad de la estrategia nacional para la explotación de uranio en todo su territorio frente a lasresistencias sociales que interpelan las bases de una gramática del desarrollo capitalista y mercantilizadorade la naturaleza. SOCIO-ENVIRONMENTAL MINING CONFLICTS IN ARGENTINE PROVINCES. URANIUM RESISTANCE IN THE CAPITAL CITY OF LA RIOJAAbstractGiven the rise in international demand for minerals and the national requirements for strategic materials, thegovernments of Latin American countries ratify mining as one of the productive activities with high potential,especially in terms of foreign investments for its exploitation. However, concomitantly in the Southern Coneand the Caribbean, tensions and conflicts around the extractivist model are evident from popular resistanceto the development of various mining projects. This problem has multiple antecedents in Argentina andevidences the contradictions existing in the development models promoted by governments and companiesin relation to social expectations.A large part of the citizen's resistance to this activity comes from the defense of the water resource they claimfor their territories, among other common goods, understanding that the promotion of mining requires largeproportions of this vital resource. At the same time they express distrust of the weakness in control policiesby the competent authorities.The proposal of this article is to analyze aspects of socio-environmental conflicts in the light of the case ofuranium resistance in the city of La Rioja, where social tensions are manifested before the advances of theNational Atomic Energy Commission (CNEA), for the Surveying studies in the Quebrada de Alipán (located20 km from the city of Rioja). This issue has been going back and forth for years. Social mobilization, politicaldecisions and even the prosecution of the case, from which the national strategy for the exploitation of uranium throughout its territory is problematized in the face of social resistance that challenges the basis ofa grammar of the capitalist and mercantile development of nature.Key words: Socio-Environmental Conflicts, Uranium, CNEA, La Rioja.

El presente artículo discute la importancia histórica de los escritores y cronistas riojanos que, al escribir sobrela provincia desde las décadas finales del siglo XIX a primeras del siglo XX, fueron conformando un riojanoideal, potenciando una identidad específica. La dicotomía civilización y barbarie que popularizara Sarmientoa nivel nacional, fue paradigmáticamente expresada localmente en el libro de Carmelo Valdés (1916)Tradiciones Riojanas: Blancos y Negros, y por ello, a partir de su lectura crítica se propone indagar laintencionalidad de la construcción histórica de riojanidad.En esta investigación pretendí como investigador, relacionarme con la producción textual de los escritoresriojanos de fin del siglo XIX hasta mediados del siglo XX, como objetos de estudio en sí, utilizandoherramientas científicas propias de la metodología de la Historia, incorporando y contrastando diversasfuentes escritas, y orales.WHITE ON BLACK. This text presents a case study which focuses on how the predominantly male press in Rio de Janeiro used to present the new female behaviors associated to new dressing styles adopted by Carioca female subcultures. These were comprised of young women who were starting to have access to education and to the labor market in Rio de Janeiro at the beginning of the 20th century. As these youngsters integrated into the male dominated world, they began to wear new outfits that progressively included items from the male wardrobe. Thus, these clothing styles worked as a political instrument to mark a new social position for a new class of women.

The present study comes from reflections about expressions of resistance which emerged in the social movements of punk fashion in the 1970s and the slow movement triggered in the 1990s. The investigation consists of bibliographical research with a qualitative approach and seeks to understand how the social context can boost resistance phenomena. The dialogue about contemporary society is based on the theories of Lipovetsky (2004); Bauman (2001); Aquino and Martins (2007); Hoden (2009), and Han (2015). The discussions between the authors pointed to motivational intersections between the Punk and Slow fashion movements, which are characterized as forms of resistance to productivism and consumerism.

Como atestam hoje muitos artigos e peças publicitárias, o uso de cosméticos e de maquiagem não é mais exclusividade feminina: os produtos destinados aos homens ganharam as prateleiras das perfumarias. Ao mesmo tempo, como podemos perceber nas fotografias de moda e nas ruas das grandes cidades, esses produtos eventualmente ajudam a forjar aparências que tornam mais imprecisas as delimitações entre as identidades sexuais. Alguns observadores, influenciados pelas reflexões sobre gênero, concluem que se trata de uma outra relação com o corpo, com o sexo biológico, baseada sobre uma maior liberdade de expressão do indivíduo — a não ser que a expressão da individualidade tenha se tornado, ao contrário, uma nova obrigação social... De todo modo, é inegável que ocorreram mudanças nas representações das identidades sexuais em relação aos últimos dois séculos e em relação às práticas de maquiagem, quase exclusivamente femininas até recentemente.
