Resumen
Historically, money has always occupied a central place in economic theory. The perception of its role and its influence have changed over time and, although there is quite general consensus, it is still controversial today. Monetary policy, that is, the management of its supply based on several objectives, has also evolved over time along theoretical advances and historical situations. In this article, I intend to review how the criteria that govern its actions have changed and the challenges that currently exist at a global level, as well as analyze the evolution of monetary policy in Argentina within that context.

Resumen
For several years in Latin America philosophy and the humanities have been disappearing from middle and higher level education. This phenomenon is not strange in a utilitarian and global culture in which technical-practical knowledge prevails over philosophy, history, art or literature. The objective of this essay will be to briefly show that this knowledge, considered useless, is basically the most necessary for full personal (Ordine, 2013; Komar, 2021) and social (Nussbaum, 2010) development. And how certain values of this knowledge such as truth, beauty and goodness are demands of human nature (Komar, 2021).

The situation of dispersion in which current life conditions submerge us (networks, acceleration, schedules) favors the weakening of personal life and makes us vulnerable to what the historian Yuval Noah Harari calls "digital dictatorships" (2018: 89). The article makes a diagnosis of the current cultural situation in line with these ideas and proposes to rethink, based on Edith Stein, the conditions of possibility of freedom as a necessary instrument for the realization of the meaning of personal and community human life.

This essay discusses the results of the World Happiness Report 2022. There are no surprises in the report. The happiest countries in the world have been the same for years: rich and relatively egalitarian countries. But we must not draw hasty conclusions, nor convert the subjective indicator of well-being into an exclusive objective of development. In fact, poor countries with marked social problems also show good results in the happiness index. In short, it is a useful indicator, but it is necessary to know its limits.

A pesar de su importancia y complejidad, la interdependencia entre el tipo de cambio real y el tamaño del sector transable no ha sido estudiada en detalle por la literatura existente. Este artículo busca cubrir dichas deficiencias elaborando un modelo neoclásico de equilibrio general para una economía pequeña que explica como las variaciones en la productividad total de los factores, en la dotación de factores, en los términos de intercambio y en los servicios de la deuda impactan en el tipo de cambio real de equilibrio y en el tamaño del sector transable. Midiendo las variaciones en la asignación de recursos por los cambios en la participación del sector transable en el producto, mostramos efectos adicionales a los ya conocidos efecto del gasto y de los movimientos de recursos; a decir, el efecto de las ganancias extraordinarias, el efecto precio transable, y los efectos gasto y sustitución generados relacionados a los servicios de la deuda.

This article is a written version of the lecture given in the forum Challenges for The New Generation 2022. From the general positive opinion about democracy in today´s world, inquiries about its basis. It mentions how from the relativism that is proposed by some authors and a controversial conception of respect of difference appear metaphysical and psychological conditions for the crisis of identity and a totalitarian domination that nowadays is not easily identifiable.
