Resumen
Here we are at a founding moment of Western aesthetics (defined, for the moment, as 'theory of beauty'): Hesiod, the first Western author who speaks of himself as an 'author', inserts into a traditional invocation of the muses the story of his 'conversion' (from shepherd to poet), introducing himself in the third person as a character in the story told by himself: Hesiod sings that Hesiod was taught the 'beautiful song,' that is: in a 'beautiful song' he sings that he was taught6 the 'beautiful song.'

Resumen
Each student of Einstein must eventually make his or her their peace with Einstein's pronouncements on relativity and spacetime coordinatesystems. Einstein saw the development of relativity as the ultimately successful struggle to overcome certain spacetime coordinate sys terns and thereby to implement a generalized principle of relativity. This signal achievement of relativity is embodied in its general covariance. We now hold spacetime coordinate systems merely to be convenient devices for smoothly labeling events.

Resumen
It is common for specialists in the various authors of the history of philosophy to raise objections to Heidegger's interpretations. Scholars of the so-called pre-Socratics, of Plato, of Aristotle, of medieval thought, of Descartes, of Leibniz, of Kant, of Hegel, of Nietzsche, of Husserl consider that, in each case, Heidegger is mistaken, arbitrary, or, at least, does not do sufficient justice to the author or the epoch of which he speaks author or to the epoch of which he speaks.

Resumen
He take this occasion of a well-deserved homage to my friend Torretti to return to the subject, not so much this time to respond to possible criticisms or objections, but rather to situate ideographically and methodologically the structuralist approach, pointing out at the same time what I consider to be its essential elements. The "historical" perspective provided by the years that have elapsed since this meta-scientific program began to develop can help us in this endeavor, and I hope that this question will not be completely indifferent to Torretti.

Resumen
The Jewish, Christian and Islamic religious tradition bequeathed us a completely anthropocentric and teleological vision of the world. In the Middle Ages, the Universe was conceived as a great theater, in the center of which, like a stage, was the Earth. There, human beings acted under the watchful eye of God, the angels and the rest of the heavenly court, who from behind the sphere of fixed stars watched the show and cared for us. We might be sinners, but there is no doubt that we were the protagonists of the cosmic drama. This whole worldview collapsed as a result of the scientific revolution.

Resumen
In the present essay, which I joyfully and admiringly dedicate to Carla Cordua, I will attempt to establish that to this Calvinist fideism, even to a greater degree than to the enlightened assumptions of her philosophy, may most likely be attributed her immediate and total disavowal of the credibility of religious testimony about miracles.

Resumen
This is one of the questions that have traditionally been considered the thorniest and most disputed and discussed in Hegelian practical philosophy. Repeatedly the reproach has been hurled that the philosophy of the objective spirit comes to be a negation of subjectivity and individuality, at least in the last instance, in the same way and for the same reason that the philosophy of the objective spirit (the Philosophy of Right) is ultimately a theory of the State.

Resumen
Kant operates in his critical work with the conceptual distinction between reason and understanding and with the mutual relations between the two modes of thinking. Such an internal difference of thought fulfills complex and varied functions in Kantian philosophy and has subsequently exerted an enormous influence that extends to the present day. But it is rather the separation of the two possibilities of thought that has continued to serve post-Kantian philosophers.
